I am listing this car for a neighbor and friend of mine who is 72 years old and unfamiliar with E-Bay.  What we have is a late 1931 Ford Model A Deluxe Roadster.  This is in amazingly original unmolested condition!!!  It is a late designation vehicle becuase of a lower roof line and indented firewall on the passenger side.  That means the fuel shutoff is on the outside, rather than the early models where it was a flat firewall and the shutoff was in the passenger compartment, for those of you that are model A freaks.

The car has a tan canvas top that may be original, and it has a re-covered rumble seat.  The car is matching numbers in that the engine number matches the frame number.  The engine is the original 4 cylinder, 40 horsepower unit and the car has the original 3 speed transmission.  The car is mechanically 100 percent, with a completely rebuilt front end including bearings, bushings and pins, and a modified "easy turning" pitman arm.  You can drive this car anywhere!!!

The body is all original steel, and there is absolutely NO RUST WHATSOEVERAll of the stainless steel on the car is perfect on the car.  The body could use light cosmetics as a driver.  The pictures tell the story, and you may request more, although there certainly are plenty in the ad.  This car was New Hampshire owned until the current owner bought it, and it has 34,364 miles on the odometer, which is believed to be extremely accurate.  There is no title, and the owner is the third one since this car was new.  The owner can obtain a South Carolina title if required, or you could do it yourself, but but the age of the car and the number of ownerws is why a title was not necessary.  (Any car in New Hampshire over 25 years old does not require a title, but your state may).

If you have any questions, please call Joey Cianci, the owner of the car, directly @ 803-684-2129 or on his cell @ 803-526-1957.  This car is for sale locally, so we reserve the right to end the auction at any time.  We require a $1,000.00 deposit within 72 hours of the end of the auction, and the balance within 7 days of the end of the auction.  We will accept Paypal for the deposit, and require the balance in cash, cashier's check or certified check only.  Thanks for looking!

70% of pickups could use aluminum by 2025

Wed, 11 Jun 2014

In the next decade, the auto industry will see an explosion in its use of aluminum to cut weight and increase fuel economy, according to a study from market analysts Ducker Worldwide cited by The Detroit News. We are already seeing the lightweight metal show up extensively in luxury models from Europe, but with the impending launch of aluminum-intensive 2015 Ford F-150 (pictured above), North America is using it even more, as well. The report predicts 70 percent of US pickups to have aluminum bodies by 2025.
It won't just be pickups that see the benefit, though. The average amount of aluminum in US vehicles is forecasted by the study to grow from an average of 350 pounds in 2013 to about 550 pounds by 2025. The most common parts to use it will be hoods, doors and - to some extent - roofs, as well.
The massive increase in pickups' aluminum content hardly seems surprising. The F-150 is predicted to use so much that it might cause a short-term shortage, according to one earlier report. At the same time General Motors is heavily rumored to be negotiating with suppliers for the next generation Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. Ram is the last holdout of the Big Three, but the study predicts that not to last.

Ford to announce Mulally retirement, Fields CEO as early as May 1

Mon, 21 Apr 2014

Ford CEO Alan Mulally may be about to announce his long-rumored retirement from the Blue Oval, according to a pair of insiders who spoke to Bloomberg. An official statement on the succession could arrive as soon as May 1. Chief Operating Officer Mark Fields is rumored to step up as the new CEO. The company is said to be readying the announcement soon to ensure an orderly transition of power, according to the insiders.
Mulally's retirement from Ford has been a hot topic for a while. He was seriously rumored last year to be leaving the automaker to take over as the CEO of Microsoft. The board even said at one point that it was okay with them if he stepped down early. However, the CEO maintained he would stay with the business through at least the end of 2014. Fields has been rumored as a frontrunner to take over the top spot at the company since he was promoted to COO.
For the moment, Ford isn't officially confirming any of these plans. "We don't comment on speculation. We do have succession plans in place for our key leadership. We take succession planning very seriously," said Susan Krusel, Ford Global News Manager, to Autoblog.

Ford demonstrates Mustang's new Line Lock burnout feature

Tue, 22 Apr 2014

Been saving your pennies for a 2015 Ford Mustang? Put in a few extra shifts or some overtime? Got a great down payment ready? Well, however much you saved for your new pony car, start saving more - you'll need the extra money to spend on tires.
That's because the Mustang will come with a system called Line Lock, which can lock the front brakes electronically, allowing drivers to perform big, dumb, smoky burnouts without moving so much as an inch. It's sort of like launch control, only the average driver might actually use it.
Now, line locks aren't uncommon, particularly in drag racing. Usually, a flip of the switch locks the front brakes. The Mustang, besides offering the system from the factory which is unique in and of itself, looks a bit more involved.
