1930 Model A Ford Two Tone Paint on 2040-cars
Otho, Iowa, United States
fresh out of dry storage since 1969 is this old model A coupe. i bought it from the person that had it from the early 60s. he rebuilt motor and installed a jc whitney 3/4 cam as he described it. he claims motor has probably 500 miles on it since rebuild. was last driven on his wedding day then put into storage. car is a rumble seat car with extra trim added along with a side mount antennae[ probably for a coontail as there is no radio]. i bought the car out of his storage shed brought it home and checked it over. the gas tank was dry and super clean-i had to replace the wheel cylinders and shoes along with a couple of steel brake lines to get the juice brakes working has good brakes now. the coupe has what looks to be 35 ford headlights for the sealed beams. car has 16'' rims. this is a old hotrod and the paint shows it with plenty of cracks and patina. the roof has been filled but has a false textured insert painted on and looks pretty nice. all the glass looks to be replaced back in the 60s with safety glass. car runs and drives down the road and all the lights -gauges-electric wipers etc work. car is a rumble seat cat and has been reupholstered again back in the 60s. car has very little rust in lower cowl that is typical and fenders have some dents. please feel free to email me with any questions or call my cell# 515-570-5646. buyer is responsible for shipping cost but i will help load etc as much as i can. has clear title. i require a 10percent deposit thru paypal within 48 hours of auction end. will make a perfect car to restore as it is complete or hotrod it. too nice of a car for me to use for my project so decided to sell. thanks and good luck marty

Ford To Unveil Solar Hybrid Concept Car At CES
Thu, Jan 2 2014Ford plans to unveil at this month's International CES gadget show a solar-powered concept car that offers the same performance as a plug-in hybrid but without the need for a plug. The C-Max Solar Energi Concept car uses a gasoline engine combined with a gizmo that acts like a magnifying glass to concentrate the sun's rays on the vehicle's roof-mounted solar panels. The automaker says the vehicle's estimated combined city-highway mileage is 100 miles (160 kilometers) per gallon. The U.S. auto maker says that by using solar power instead of an electric plug, a typical owner will reduce their annual greenhouse gas emissions by four metric tons. The company says it sold about 85,000 hybrid or electric vehicles in 2013, including 6,300 units of its C-Max Energi plug-in hybrid. The sun-ray concentrator was developed by researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology and uses what is known as a Fresnel lens, which concentrates light but can be made thinner than a conventional lens. A full day of sunshine is equivalent to a four-hour battery charge, or 8 kilowatts, Ford says. On a full charge, it should have a range of 620 miles (997 kilometers), the same as the C-Max Energi. The concept car also comes with a plug-in port for standard electric charging. Ford says that 75 percent of all trips made by an average driver could be powered by the sun. After showing off the concept car at the convention in Las Vegas Jan. 7-10, Ford Motor Co. says that it will test the vehicle with institute researchers to determine if it's feasible for mass production. Jay Leno and Lee Iacocca reflect on 50 years of Ford Mustang
Mon, 30 Dec 2013Lee Iacocca oversaw the birth of the Ford Mustang back in the 1960s, rocketing the new pony car nameplate into million-unit sales territory in its initial go-round and cementing its place in the history books. Thus, we were immediately drawn to this latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage, in which the funnyman hosts Iacocca for a look at the origins of Ford's most iconic sports car. The legendary auto exec is looking notably more frail than when we last saw him, but if we're being asked around as a video guest when we're 89 years old, we'll consider that evidence of a life well lived.
Serial No. 0001 is on hand for the occasion for Jay's romp through history, as is the historic Mustang 1 showcar from 1962. Of course, the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang GT (in prototype form) makes an appearance at the end of the episode with chief engineer Dave Pericak, as well. Get some, below.

$1.8 million is spent each year to maintain GM's fleet of 600 production and concept cars.
When at least two of the Detroit Three were on the verge of death a few years back, one of the tough questions that was asked of Ford, General Motors and Chrysler execs - outside of why execs were still taking private planes to meetings - was why each company maintained huge archives of old production and concept vehicles. GM, for example, had an 1,100-vehicle collection when talk of a federal bailout began.
