1930 Model A Ford Rumble Seat Coupe. This is a older restoration, probably from the 1970's. The car runs good, has decent older interior and the paint looks good from a distance. It is Laquer from back in the day when they thought more was better. In this case too many coats of paint has caused some spider cracking. There is also some pimples showing where the thinner was trapped in the paint. The paint is driver quality not show  at all. This is  a good Model A to drive around and enjoy. The body is in very good shape, doors fit nice, rumble lid fits nice, and also the hood. The fenders are really good also, and all Henry Ford steel.  All the lights work, gas gauge has been rebuilt and works, amp meter and speedometer work also. The car has a real nice steering wheel, maybe a new one from its earlier restoration. All the glass is good with no cracks, and both windows roll up and down. The car also still has a Orginal Radiator, nice radiator shell and good orginal stainless headlights. Bumpers are still shinny showing some places that has lost its chrome, but not bad or very noticable.  I cleaned and detailed the engine, replaced the radiator hoses and clamps with period correct ones.  I also relined all the service brakes, and the emergency brake shoes. Car has a new battery. Clear TN Title in my name. Car is located in Greeneville TN. If you can come take a look I will gladly make myself avaible to show it. If you cannot pick the car up in person I will work with your shipper. $500 deposit through pay pal, and the balance in Cash at pickup up, or bank transfer. If you have any questions you can call me (Joe) at 423-470-2489 , please leave a message if I can not answer at the time of your call.  This is a old car sold as-is.  PLEASE LOOK AT ALL PICTURES, I have made pictures of the cracks in the paint and other defects. This is  a nice old car to enjoy as is, or would be a great canidate for a restoration or Street Rod,Hot rod. I like it just the way it is and would drive and enjoy it. This kind of car you dont have to worry like you do the $30,000 show cars, just have fun with it. Put the grand kids in the back and take them for a ride, Ice cream sure would be good.

Swedish car mag says Ford Mondeo is dangerously, illegally overweight [w/video]

Thu, Dec 18 2014

Sweden's Teknikens Varld has a reputation for being very persnickety when it comes to auto safety testing, and its latest catch is the Mondeo Titanium Estate 2.0 TDCi 150 bhp S6 MPS (basically a station wagon variant of the Fusion). In addition to the model's mile-long name, it has another problem according to the Swedes, because its weight on the scales does not equal the official numbers for the vehicle. Teknikens Varld claims the wagon is dangerously overweight because it weighs in 4,145 pounds, while Ford officially lists its weight at 3,530 pounds. That 615-pound disparity means that if a family loads it to what they think is the model's gross vehicle weight, it will actually be too heavy, and therefore illegal to drive in Sweden. According to the magazine, when it tried doing this, the rear wheels scraped against the wells, and the estate failed the mag's legendary moose test. However, at 220 pounds over the limit, it passed the test. When reached for comment by Autoblog, Jay Ward, Senior Manager at Ford of Europe Product Communications, explained the reason for the deviation between the official numbers and the magazine's test: "We are aware of this, but this is not an issue that relates specifically to the safety of the Mondeo, but is in fact related to the way in which the cars are tested by the authorities. We provided an Ambiente model for the testing but the car that featured in the magazine test was a Titanium model which has a different weight. We are in discussion with the Swedish Transport Agency to change the framework so the real weight of the Titanium model is reported instead of the Ambiente model which will resolve the issue." Teknikens Varld is well-known for calling out automakers for perceived transgressions. Most recently it leveled criticisms against the all-wheel drive system in the Honda CR-V, and both the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Porsche Macan failed its moose test. Scroll down for the magazine's video of weighing the Mondeo Estate and the model's test results. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Mondeo weighs 279 kg more than Ford claims. With big load (ie family plus luggage) the car therefore becomes illegal to drive.

Ford to update Sync, MyFord Touch software... again

Wed, 07 Aug 2013

Ford hasn't had the best luck with its MyFord Touch and Sync systems, as the finicky infotainment system has been subject to a critical whooping while customer issues have helped sink Ford's IQS scores. The automaker has made a concerted effort, though, to try and fix MyFord Touch. And while the results have been mixed, The Blue Oval is hoping its latest free update, set to go live next week, will make things better.
According to a report from The Detroit News, the new system promises streamlined voice commands with fewer levels between opening query and actual result. Ford is also addressing where certain options are selected on the touchscreen. Rather than working one of the four quadrants on the homescreen, users will be able to select anywhere within the quadrant to make adjustments.
While it might only be a band-aid for MFT's problems, the fact that Ford is still trying to improve it is a promising sign. It's going to take more than just this update to address the system's ills, though.
