If you are in the market for a nice 1930 model A Ford, let me save you alot of aggravation . My loss is your gain...............................................................................................................................................
I know more now about a 1930 model A Ford than I ever cared to know. I purchased this vehicle in mid March with the intention of using it in my limousine service. Time was a factor and I wanted to market it for prom season this year, but it was not meant to be.. I paid  $21,000.00 in mid March to Streetside Classics in Georgia with the expectation of having to dump some more money into it but was not prepared for what I got. Although the ad had many pictures and accurately depicted the cosmetic portions of the car, the short video showing the car underway and travelling an equally short distance did not really tell much of the mechanical condition of the car. The sales agent for Streetside only advised me the car had a head light out and the horn did not sound. Upon delivery of the car, pools of oil formed under the vehicle. A coolant stain appeared on the large crack on the engine head after shutting the car off. Upon further investigation there was a large weld on the front of the engine block from an apparent crack repair. The first time I drove it on anything other than a flat road (hill), the car could not go over 10 miles an hour; the same approximate speed in the sales video.  After removing the engine from the car and taking it to Schwalm's Babbitted Bearings, Inc. in Strasburg, Pa., the true condition of the engine was diagnosed. Again, I would expect to have to make some reasonable upgrades but I did not think I was buying a fixer upper. After contacting Streetside Classics by phone and thru the intermediary of the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU, they still refuse to refund any repair costs and wrap themselves around the fact that they had me initialize mutiple places on the sales contract that said the vehicle was being sold in "as is condition". I guess legally they are covered but I don't think that is any way to do business, if they in fact knew nothing about the expensive mechanical problems the car had. They say they are a consignment business and just connect sellers with buyers. Kind of like a piano player in a whorehouse playng away on the first floor and pretending he doesn't know what is taking place upstairs on the second floor. I guess they did not notice the oil puddles on their showroom floor, the visible crack in the engine head, lack of compression when running etc. I find it hard to believe they know nothing about their stock and just buy and sell classic cars. Well I'll be a monkey's uncle. Please, no wise cracks.

Anyway the good news for you is I have this car that now in the past months has a (rebuilt) short block in it, which to you means :  I have spent over $4000.00 on repairs and that is with me taking out and reinstalling engine and components, which saved additional monies.

note: did not use original block which had the welded crack and numerous cracks in cylinder walls

the newly rebuilt engine has

1) Clean and magnaflux block and crankshaft
2) Bake and airless blast block, resurface, bore cylinders , install hard valve seats, rebabbitt, alignbore
3) Grind and fit crankshaft
4) Rebabbitt connecting rods, regrind camshaft
5) New pistons, rings, stainless steel valves, guides, adjustable tappetts, valve springs and timing gears
6) The block is sprayed with cast iron gray metal prep

We installed new gaskets on all engine components when reinstalling rebuilt engine.

Vehicle will now climb steep hill at 45 mph - not 10 mph.

Vehicle has a nice red accent stripe at mid body with matching freshly painted red wheels. Tires are like new. Interior photos to follow. Gray cloth seats with rear seat middle armrest. Gray cloth door panels. Nice black carpetting front and rear. Inside and out aftermarket door handles and window controls replaced. Matching gray cloth headliner.  Vehicle has working fuel shut off valve under dash, steering column mounted hand throttle and spark selector. Amp gauge and fuel level gauge. Horn button for aoohgah horn, 3 speed trans and parking brake lever. Chrome knob for headlamps and running lamps. All lights are now operational. Interior mounted ceiling light over back seat.

I painted the engine Ford engine green, painted oil pan black, painted other engine components as well.
Sanded and painted removable front wood floor boards. Cleaned and waxed vehicle. Currently painting some undercarriage frame rails and relacing old hardware.
Greased all fittings...........more updates and photos to follow. I have many more photos of before and after.

Stay Tuned...........................................................

Ford to build next F-150, outgoing model concurrently?

Wed, 24 Jul 2013

Ford is rumored to be considering concurrent production for old and new F-150 models in a bid to minimize supply chain disruptions and inventory. Automotive News is reporting that the Blue Oval will build both the current F-150 and its replacement, which we showed you testing just last month, side by side for about half a year before switching over entirely to next-generation production.
As IHS Automotive analyst Mike Jackson told AN, "In order to ramp up, you have to retool...and that means you have to take capacity offline." Building both models alongside could allow Ford to cope with the still strong demand for the current F-150, while populating dealer supplies and working out supply chain kinks for the new model before making a full-time switch.
A loss of capacity when demand is so strong, even for a short period, could spell bad news for Ford, which nets an estimated 90 percent of its global profit on pickups and large SUVs. As AN states, Ford produces the F-150 in both Kansas City, Missouri and Dearborn, Michigan, which allows it to maintain some degree of flexibility in production. The new F-150 is expected to arrive at the 2014 North American International Auto Show as a 2015 model, with a design inspired by the Atlas Concept first shown at the Detroit Auto Show last January.

Ford profiles surprisingly affluent Focus ST buyers

Fri, 08 Nov 2013

It comes as no surprise when Ford says that 32-percent of Focus ST buyers are under 35, but we weren't expecting this: the average annual salary of Focus ST buyers is $127,000. Twenty-two percent of non-ST Focus buyers are under 35, while their average annual salary is $67,000.
We like the Focus ST because it has 252 horsepower, is genuinely fun to drive and offers great value for performance-minded car enthusiasts; facts that are not lost on customers, it seems. Ford says that the Focus ST has the highest percentage of conquest sales for a non-hybrid model it sells, and that the top-four trade-ins are from Honda, Chevrolet, Mazda and Toyota. Demand for the hot Focus is strongest in Los Angeles, Detroit, Houston and Orlando.
"[The Focus ST is] having this kind of halo effect for other vehicles we'd hoped for when we invested in the ST brand," says John Felice, vice president of US marketing, sales and service, because it's helping to boost sales of other Ford vehicles.

Will the new Ford GT race at Le Mans?

Tue, Jan 13 2015

Ford stole the spotlight here on the floor of the Detroit Auto Show this year with the reveal of the new GT. Its carbon-fiber chassis, 600-plus-horsepower EcoBoost engine and radical aerodynamic shape made sure of that, but flanking it with the debuts of the Mustang GT350R and F-150 Raptor didn't hurt any, either. Any racing fan looking at the new Blue Oval supercar, however, had to wonder whether Dearborn is planning on putting it on the race track. The House that Hank Built is, after all, a known entity in motor racing. It may be canceling its V8 Supercars program Down Under, withdrawn its support from the World Rally Championship, and it's been years since it's competed in Formula One or Indy. But it still competes in the United SportsCar Championship, NASCAR, NHRA and a variety of motor racing disciplines. One of its most famous and celebrated of racing endeavors, however, came in the form of the original GT40 that brought Ford four consecutive victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, starting with a dominant one-two-three finish in 1966. It's the 50th anniversary of that landmark win which the new Ford GT celebrates, but while the press materials made clear reference to that historical event, any mention of a return as was previously speculated was carefully omitted. That, according to Autosport, could come down purely to the ACO, the organizers of the event and sanctioning body for its associated series, which has yet to announce the revised format for the GTE class under which a potential Ford GT racer would compete in 2016. Longtime Ford racing partner Multimatic is said to have closely consulted with the ACO on the formation of those rules, however, and assuming they're finally formulated to Dearborn's liking, we could be looking at a GTE-spec Ford GT to return to La Sarthe next year in celebration of that landmark victory half a century prior. Chip Ganassi Racing – which races under Chevy power in NASCAR and Indy but recently switched to Ford for its Daytona Prototype – is said to be in line to field the car on Dearborn's behalf. If given the green light, it would be the first time Ford would field a factory effort at Le Mans since the C100 project under the Group C category in the early 1980s. A racing version of the previous Ford GT was prepared by Switzerland-based Matech a few years ago, but without factory support or notable success beyond the FIA GT3 European Championship.
