1930 Model A Ford Pickup Truck on 2040-cars
Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, United States
A classic 1930 pickup titled and in running driving project condition. I bought the truck with hopes of painting the bed and cab black and installing a dropped axle for a period 40's hotrod look. The truck could go any direction at this point, either hotrod or close to original with some mechanical updates. Thousands of dollars spent on 5 speed conversion and juice brakes. All work thoughtfully done with quality parts. The following has been done and all work looks quality: Drivetrain has been updated with a Auto Restorations 5 speed kit using a nice low mileage GM t5 transmission. Smooth quiet running stock engine and great clutch. The exhaust is also newly redone Brakes have been upgraded to juice brakes using stock model A pedals, 39 ford style master cylinder, 41 ford backing plates and drums, new hard and soft brake lines. Electrical is 6 volt with new battery and upgraded powder coated battery box. the headlights and taillights are not finished wired. I was going to pull the cab and bed and respray before finish wiring. Engine wiring is complete and starter , alternator and distributor work great. Wheels are 17" with older gum dipped firestone 5.25/5.50 bias plies. Wheels could use new paint or powder coat. Overall they are in good condition and tires are without cracks or leaks. Fenders are the nicest I have seen on any pickup. The bed is not very wavy with only minor dents inside and has new oak wood kit with stainless strips. Cab and doors are in good condition with some bondo in lower cowl. I had plans on fixing with new metal when it was repainted. I think the yellow paint job should be redone. All glass is great condition and windows roll up and down nicely. Doors close great and hinges are in good condition. No sagging issues with the doors. Seat has been redone includes excellent frames and springs. Floor has new wood and top is nicely redone I have lots of money tied up in the pickup and it is well on it's way to being a great driver. The 5 speed ads that needed overdrive and keeps the engine rpms at a comfortable level and the juice brakes are a must for higher speed cruising. Great project that needs some completion and maybe , just some primer black paint to cover the yellow on cab and bed ( I hate yellow on model A's). I Live in Coeur d' Alene Idaho and can help with any shippers and overseas buyers welcome. I have the pickup truck for sale locally and I reserve the right to sell local. Please call with any questions. Thanks, Ben 801-550-6042 On Jun-30-14 at 11:41:06 PDT, seller added the following information: Answers to questions? frame started out as a solid original, rust preventative painted and new hardware used throughout. Front and back springs pulled apart, greased then assembled new hardware. Sacramento vintage ford -MASTER CYLINDER CONVERSION KIT & BATTERY BOX 1928-31 used for juice brake conversion using a 39-52 ford master cylinder. I have the front wiring new in package and was just going to run a home made harness to rear lights. I also have taillight brackets to run lights on both rear fenders. Tires are repops from Coker and have been sitting with very little use. A little flat spot on fronts and they need some road time to warm up and round out. Rims are 17" I believe from 32-33 fords. I was going to buy 7.50 x 17 for rears and run the 5.25 on fronts for a big n little hot rod look. Engine runs quiet and smooth. I was going to change out the distributor to an electric type , install a Stromberg 97 for better carburation and then the 5 speed could be used to it's fullest. I will include the Large logo 97 in the sale. Engine is fine as is and runs cool. |

Ford C-Max sales hold steady despite fuel economy fracas
Mon, 09 Sep 2013Despite the ballyhoo that accompanied Ford's lowering of the C-Max fuel economy figures, the Blue Oval is still seeing strong demand for the five-seat MPV, as Automotive News reports. Speaking to marketing boss Jim Farley, AN says that the controversy surrounding the C-Max's fuel economy figures won't force Ford to change its marketing strategy.
Ford lowered the fuel economy rating of the C-Max after public outcry and legal action by customers that were unable to reach the 47 miles per gallon promised by the window sticker. The new ratings were dropped about a month ago to 45 mpg on the freeway and 40 mpg in the city. Ford offered rebates for current C-Max owners, with $550 going to those that bought their car and $325 to lessees. The issue, says Ford, stemmed from testing standards that allowed the automaker to base the C-Max's fuel economy on the Fusion Hybrid, because they use identical powertrains. The C-Max's less aerodynamic shape wasn't taken into account, though.
Whether Ford's PR team handled the crises perfectly or people just aren't that bothered by a four-mpg drop in combined ratings, demand remains strong for the C-Max among consumers. Ford moved 3,000 units in August, which was a 12-percent jump over July sales. Meanwhile, consumer demand through third-party shopping websites remains strong as well, according to Autometrics, a data analysis company that spoke with Automotive News. While the long-term effects of the adjustments remain unknown, the C-Max appears to have fared well in the near term.
Ford Police Interceptor with 2.0L EcoBoost rated most fuel-efficient police sedan
Tue, 26 Nov 2013Back in September, Ford announced a non-pursuit version of its Police Interceptor Sedan, which swaps out a choice of two V6 engines for a fuel-efficient 2.0-liter EcoBoost inline four-cylinder. This Special Service Police Sedan will be marketed to law enforcement agencies looking to cut fuel costs and don't need the extra power.
For college campuses, detectives and the like, this new police car has now been certified with EPA fuel economy estimates of 20 miles per gallon in the city, 32 mpg on the highway and a combined rating of 24 mpg. These figures represent a decrease of two mpg in city and combined ratings compared to the civilian-spec 2014 Taurus. These police cars still offer active grille shutters for better aerodynamics, although we're guessing agencies upfitting their cars with light bars and push bumpers aren't exactly concerted with aerodynamics. The true benefit of the SSP version is when it's compared against other police sedan options like the Dodge Charger, Chevy Impala, Chevy Caprice and even the V6 Police Interceptor Sedan.
Ford claims the new Police Interceptor Sedan SSP is the most fuel-efficient current option for police departments, saying that this car can save $1,720 per car over three years and almost $260,000 over the same span of time for fleets with 150 vehicles. There is an official press release posted below, and also check out the gallery of images from Ford collected from various police agencies across the US (although none show the 2.0-liter SSP model). Head on over to Ford's Police Interceptor mini-site for even more pictures of the Police Interceptor Sedan and Utility.
2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost flogged and analyzed by Ignition
Mon, 13 Oct 2014Aside from the way it looks and perhaps its independent rear suspension, the biggest bit of news on the 2015 Mustang may be the inclusion of its 2.3-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine. That blown mill marks the first time since the Mustang SVO of the '80s that a turbo has been fitted under the engine of Ford's pony car.
The Mustang EcoBoost is the subject of the latest episode of Ignition from Motor Trend, giving us a great look at the technical, nitty-gritty side of the turbocharged coupe. Covering it from bow to stern, host Carlos Lago walks us through the boosted Ford before taking to the track for some driving impressions, with particular praise given to the low-end grunt of the 2.3-liter mill.
Check out the full video and then let us know which 2015 Mustang has your interest piqued the most - the EcoBoost four, the 5.0L V8 or the entry-level V6.
