Surprise! More Ford and Lincoln cars found with marijuana

Thu, Jul 27 2017

Ford is starting to have a serious problem on its hands. Today, ABC 7 in Detroit reported that another batch of Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ cars were found packed with 227 pounds of marijuana. This is a little over a week after Fords in Ohio were found stuffed with marijuana and only about two months after Fords in Minnesota were found full of weed. All of the cars traveled on train from Mexico to their destination. All in, several thousand pounds and several million dollars worth of marijuana has been discovered. According to the report, Immigration and Customs Enforcement found the cars at the Ford Rail Distribution Facility in Woodhaven, Michigan, just south of Ford's world headquarters in Dearborn. ICE became involved after a Ford employee reported the cars to Woodhaven police. It's unclear when and where the cars were packed with marijuana. With the cars in Minnesota, it's believed that the weed was added after leaving the factory but before being loaded on the train. Spare tires were removed and the space was used to smuggle the marijuana. Related Video:

2014 is shaping up to be a big year for Ford Motor Company, as it's announced an onslaught of 23 new global product launches which will help create 5,000 new jobs in the US. As part of the new product push, three more manufacturing plants will be opened.

Why the Detroit Three should merge their engine operations

Tue, Dec 22 2015

GM and FCA should consider a smaller merger that could still save them billions of dollars, and maybe lure Ford into the deal. Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne would love to see his company merge with General Motors. But GM's board of directors essentially told him to go pound sand. So now what? The boardroom battle started when Mr. Marchionne published a study called Confessions of a Capital Junkie. In it, Sergio detailed the amount of capital the auto industry wastes every year with duplicate investments. And he documented how other industries provide superior returns. He's right, of course. Other industries earn much better returns on their invested capital. And there's a danger that one day the investors will turn their backs on the auto industry and look to other business sectors where they can make more money. But even with powerful arguments Marchionne couldn't convince GM to take over FCA. And while that fight may now be over, GM and FCA should consider a smaller merger that could still save them billions of dollars, and maybe lure Ford into the deal. No doubt this suggestion will send purists into convulsions, but so be it. The Detroit Three should seriously consider merging their powertrain operations, even though that's a sacrilege in an industry that still considers the engine the "heart" of the car. These automakers have built up considerable brand equity in some of their engines. But the vast majority of American car buyers could not tell you what kind of engine they have under the hood. More importantly, most car buyers really don't care what kind of engine or transmission they have as long as it's reliable, durable, and efficient. Combining that production would give the Detroit Three the kind of scale that no one else could match. There are exceptions, of course. Hardcore enthusiasts care deeply about the powertrains in their cars. So do most diesel, plug-in, and hybrid owners. But all of them account for maybe 15 percent of the car-buying public. So that means about 85 percent of car buyers don't care where their engine and transmission came from, just as they don't know or care who supplied the steel, who made the headlamps, or who delivered the seats on a just-in-time basis. It's immaterial to them. And that presents the automakers with an opportunity to achieve a staggering level of manufacturing scale. In the NAFTA market alone, GM, Ford, and FCA will build nearly nine million engines and nine million transmissions this year.

DESCRIPTION
We are very pleased to offer this 1930 Ford Model A Deluxe Rumble Seat Roadster finished in classic all Gloss Black body with matching Black fenders, Apple Green pinstripe accents & wire wheels, and Tan Stayfast canvass top & side curtains! The Brown Naugahyde interior compliments the exterior perfectly. Options include the 201ci Inline 4 cylinder engine with Zenith carburetion, 3-speed transmission, dual side mounted spare tires with Ford-scripted vinyl covers, glass wind wings, driver rearview mirror, inner kick panel map pockets, vacuum wiper, quail motometer with thermometer, 4-blade cooling fan, rear-mounted luggage rack, dual cowl lights & taillights, TwoLite headlamps with Ford lenses, Firestone whitewall tires, and more!

This particular example was fully restored approximately 20 years ago while still in the Fort Worth, Texas area. Our inspection indicates the body and frame remain brilliantly solid and original! It has had just two careful owners over the past 16 years according to documentation provided. When restored, this example was fully converted to 12-volt negative ground electrics with an alternator charging system. This allowed for brighter lighting, more efficient starts, and the addition of turn signals & a water temperature gauge. The brakes were also enhanced to utilize a 4-wheel hydraulic system at all four corners. More recently in August 2013, the convertible top irons & wood frame were replaced along with a brand new Stayfast canvass convertible top! It will come complete with new boot cover and matching side curtains and storage bag. In addition, the cooling system was flushed and new hoses & clamps installed.

Its present day condition makes for a nicely decorated and very drivable example! Ready for autumn time parades, outings across town, or confident long range touring! You will be impressed with this Model A no doubt! The odometer shows 7,434 miles today, although the St. Louis Car Museum does not have enough evidence to support an original mileage claim. A great investment that we are sure will not last long! Please feel free to call with any questions or to schedule an inspection to see it in person!
