1930 FORD MODEL A DELUXE ROADSTER This automobile was recently purchased from a private collection, the car has been in the collection for over 20 years. The gentlemen bought this car several years ago and had it completely restored in the 1990's. This was a complete original straight car before its restoration. Professional body off frame, ground up restoration done in the 1990's. This automobile has been meticulously cared for since its restoration and has been used very little over the years. SHEET METAL/ PAINT: All original Henry Ford sheet metal, stunning body, no signs of patch panels. Paint is excellent: has a few minor nicks and scratches, but not very many considering how long this car has been done. Paint is not all chipped in normal places (around door hinges, hood hinges, rumble seat lid, etc.) for a car that has been done this long, refer to pictures. Hood alignment is great, doors open/ shut great/ rumble lid open and closes great. All chrome/ stainless is in great shape (bumpers, windshield, hub caps, stone guard, radiator shell, etc.). This car looks like it just rolled off the show room floor. CHASSIS: Motor completely professionally rebuilt, runs excellent, lots of power, all new babbitt bearings, very clean and detailed nice, new radiator. Frame is excellent, underneath of car is very clean- and shinny- refer to pictures. Hard to find shocks are on the car and in great working order. Brakes were recently completely gone through- new linings, hubs turned, pins/ roller replaced as needed, and front brake floaters installed. Car stops great! Front wheel bearings cleaned and repacked, new seals on rear drums installed. Recently new leakless water pump with aluminum fan installed. Firestone white wall tires with correct steel stem inner tubes. Car is ready to go. UPOLISTRY: LeBaron Bonny interior professionally installed during restoration. Correct beautiful brown seats and door panels, pockets in kick panels in cowl, rumble seat in great shape, nice matching rug in front and correct rubber mat in rumble seat floor. Top is slightly faded, but has no rips or tears, have top boot and all side curtains. Side curtains are in great shape and have all irons necessary to use them. All lights work, directionals have been added for safety, generator charges strong, gas gauge works. (NOTE: The pictures show the passenger side windwing is missing, the windwing was cracked, so I took it off and dropped it off at the local glass shop to have a new one cut; this will be fixed by the end of the week.) How new car shortages may impact your buying experience
Wed, 04 Sep 2013If you want further proof that the auto industry is bouncing back, look no further than the empty lots and forecourts of your local dealership. According to a story by The Wall Street Journal, continued high demand for mainstream cars is overtaxing automakers' ability to produce enough models. Several dealers interviewed for the story are reporting two-week supplies as opposed to the typical two-month allocations.
With sales expected to hit 1.4 million units when August numbers arrive shortly and incentive spending down to its lowest amount since January, these limited supplies are pushing prices even higher. For example, according to the WSJ, the average price of a Ford Fusion is up past $26,000. Unfortunately, it's difficult for manufacturers to increase production quickly. If it invests in its facilities, as many manufacturers have done, it risks wasting cash if growth suddenly slows. At the same time, the momentum gained over the past several years could be short lived if vehicle supplies continue to dwindle. "Manufacturers are in a precarious situation," notes Karl Brauer, a senior director at Kelley Blue Book.
Low interest rates and a wealth of desirable features are also allowing customers to purchase more expensive vehicles while justifying their higher overall price tags, a situation that is compounding supply shortages. Even now, during the annual end-of-summer clearance season, deals on new vehicles are remarkably difficult to come by. According to the report, the Toyota Corolla is in a self-inflicted state of shortage, as Toyota clears out inventory in anticipation of the new 2014 generation arriving in dealers. Ford's supplies should rebound as Fusion production comes on line at its Flat Rock, Michigan factory. The Chevrolet Impala, Honda Odyssey, Civic, and Accord and Subaru Forester are also facing shortages.

Ford faces class-action lawsuit for selling vehicles without brake override systems
Fri, 29 Mar 2013A total of 20 Ford customers are suing the automaker in a class-action lawsuit for selling vehicles "vulnerable to unintended acceleration." According to Reuters, the suit names 30 models built between 2002 and 2010 with electronic throttle control systems but without a brake override system. Those include the 2004-2012 F-Series pickups and the 2005-2009 Lincoln Town Car. Adam Levitt, a partner with the law firm of Grant & Eisenhofer says the plaintiffs in the case want "to be compensated for their economic losses by having overpaid for cars that contained defects." Levitt contends that the plaintiffs would not have bought their vehicles or paid less for them had they known there was no brake override system in place.
Ford began installing brake override systems in its vehicles beginning in 2010. In response to the lawsuit, Ford has pointed to research by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that indicated that unintended acceleration is mostly caused by driver error, saying in a statement that, "NHTSA's work is far more scientific and trustworthy than work done by personal injury lawyers and their paid experts."
Belville et al v. Ford Motor Co. will be heard in US District Court in the Southern District of West Virginia.
