Body - 1930 steel ford model a coupe. 4"chop, filled roof, paint rubbed down for that old barn find look. The body is not perfect, but it is very good. No dents. The only real rust on the car is in the rear wheel wells, and it has been coated with rust inhibitor. I also have new wheel wells for it. All lower cowl and lower doors are perfect with no rust. No dents, the filled roof was done by a shop, but the chop needs to be smoothed if you want it perfect. All wood has been replaced by metal bracing.

Frame - fully boxed 1930 model a frame. Z'd 4" in the rear. stripped of paint and clear coated. 16 gallon fuel cell in the trunk. Trunk needs floor pan or leave as is.

Engine - Fresh Chevy 327 bored (.030), Duntov 30/30 solid lifter cam, Flat-top pistons, "power-pack" heads, Offy intake, Edelbrock 650, Carter electric fuel pump, electric fan, aluminum radiator, Flowmaster mufflers (maybe 3,000 miles on the entire car since frame-off rebuild)

Trans - Saginaw 4-speed, Wilwood Hydraulic clutch, Hurst shifter

Rearend - Chevy Chevelle 10-bolt, 3.08 gears

Wheels/Tires/Brakes/Suspension - 15" steel Chevy rally wheels, 8.20/15 Firestone cheater slicks in the rear, and 5.60/15 Firestones in the front. Power brakes, disc up front and drum in the rear w/proportioning valve. Superbell 4" lowered axle w/mono leaf spring. Adjustable coil overs in the rear. Ladder bars.

Interior - stock bench seat, cd/mp3 stereo with 5 1/4" speakers mounted in the old gas tank, has ipod/iphone hook up, sounds real good. Original dash has not been cut at all. Autometer tach, oil temp, volt. No speedo, no turn signals. Glass in windshield and doors, rest in plexi. Window mouldings have been chopped, but not welded up.. All new Painless wiring done clean and located under seat

Ford ditching Microsoft in favor of BlackBerry QNX for next-gen Sync?

Mon, 24 Feb 2014

Ask the average consumer - at least, those who follow the goings-on in the automotive industry - which carmaker they'd most closely associate Microsoft, and the answer you'd most likely get would be Ford. The Blue Oval automaker, after all, was at the forefront of bringing Microsoft technology into cars with its pioneering Sync system, and, though reality didn't turn out as such, Ford's CEO was recently touted as a potential future head of the Redmond-based software giant. But that relationship, according to the latest reports, could be coming to an end.
Alan Mullaly kiboshed the idea of leaving Dearborn for Redmond, but more importantly Ford is tipped to be ditching Microsoft in developing its next-generation Sync system. In its place, Ford is expected to partner with BlackBerry's QNX division.
Now, before you go balking "BlackBerry?! But they're finished!" consider that QNX is (or at least was) an independent entity that Research In Motion (as BlackBerry's Ontario-based parent company was then known) just happened to have bought back in 2010. QNX provides control systems to everything from nuclear power plants and UAVs to automakers like Audi, BMW and Porsche.

Ford forced to recall Escape over fire risk yet again

Tue, 26 Nov 2013

Recalls happen. Automakers hope they won't, but they do. And that's alright, for the most part, because cars are designed (and to a large degree still made) by humans, and humans make mistakes. So we forgive them, as long as the problem is resolved. Only in the case of the Ford Escape, the problem seems to keep coming back.
That's why Ford is calling in the Escape yet again due to fire concerns. The issue revolves around problematic fuel lines in 9,469 units manufactured between October 5, 2011, and July 11, 2012, all of which use the 1.6-liter EcoBoost inline four-cylinder engine.
As you yourself may recall, the Escape was subject to a string of recalls last year that resulted in a $17 million fine. One of them was over this very same issue, which Ford apparently didn't rectify the first time around. Let's hope this time is the last time.

Ford Mustang GT350 seen and heard in motion for the first time

Fri, 27 Sep 2013

We just recently saw our first spy shots of the next-gen hi-po Ford Mustang slated to replace the Shelby GT500, but now we're getting our first look - and listen - of prototypes captured on video. Mustang6g.com has the video (along with some different spy shots), which show that, if nothing else, SVT knows how to tune an exhaust system. The :50 mark is a good example of this, but fast-forward to around 2:00 where the driver revs the engine and really gets on the throttle hard taking off from a stop.
There's still no definitive evidence that the next-gen SVT Mustang - said to be called GT350 - will be naturally aspirated, but it sounds just as menacing as the current Shelby GT500. While the video posted below exhibits the sort of quality that is to be expected from someone driving while trying to film someone who is attempting to elude being filmed, it's still exciting to see and hear this new Mustang in motion.
