1930 Ford Coupe Chopped Model A Hot Rod Traditional Project on 2040-cars
Sebastopol, California, United States
I have a 1930 Ford Model A Coupe for sale.
It has been chopped, including the windshield, back window and quarter windows, the garnish moldings were also chopped. It is on a Model A frame with a 4" step in the rear, stock rear crossmember, and stock front crossmember, but it has been trimmed to fit a V8. The original center crossmember is not in the frame. It has a really nice Model A rear axle, with a Model T spring, including the torque tube and radius rods. The gear ratio is 3:78. There are later brake drums and hubs but no backing plates or hardware. It has an Original Model A Ford front axle that was dropped about 4", with 1942-48 Ford spindles, that have been bent to mount the shortened tie rod. It has a 1928-32 reverse eye front spring, longer perches with lower shock mounts. There are later hydraulic brake drums, but no backing plates or hardware. The front axle is mounted with 1937-40 Ford wishbones that have been split and chromed long ago. The brackets where the wishbones mount to the frame are only tack welded, so final location can be determined by next owner. It has Ford 16" rims, with some old hot rod firestone tires. 750-16 rears and 550-16 fronts It has original 1950 Pontiac Tail lights. It has a three piece hood of unknown origin. I have been told it is a 1931 Chevy Truck hood, but I can't confirm that. It has a 1932 Ford 4 cylinder radiator. And a 1932 Ford pick-up grill shell. It has what appears to be a 1931 Chevy dash, with some vintage gauges made to fit, and some missing. I will include a 1948-52 Ford F1 truck crossmember and pedals, which will make mounting hydraulic brakes easier. The body does have some rust around the bottom, but comes with two patch panels for the rear quarter panels. It also comes with another back panel for below the deckled. There is a bench seat in the car, but I don't think it is stock, and it would probably need to be recovered. The sub rails were cut out from behind the seat to the back of the body, but the section that is there from the seat back to the fire wall it pretty good. Seat pan and frame are good. Looks like newer wood in the roof, the top was filled long ago with a sheet of galvanized sheet metal. Doors open and close nicely. There are no hinges on the deck lid, but there are rumble seat brackets on the body. I will include the hinges for the deck lid to be a rumble seat. It will take a fair amount of work to get this on the road, but if you want to build an old hot rod this is a very good start. If you put in a flat head V8, and 39 style transmission it would bolt right up to the rear axle, and bolt into the F1 crossmember I have included. I could even include Vern Tardel's book on How to Build a Traditional Hot Rod, if you want it? If you want a painted finished car, this will take a lot of work. But if you want a car that looks like it just got drug out of a field, this is it. Car is sold as is where is, no title, only bill of sale. I cannot find any vin numbers on the frame, there may be some on there, but I don't see them. Buyer is responsible for pick up or delivery by hauler of your choice, all cost to be paid by buyer. This car is also for sale locally, and if it sells locally, the auction will be cancelled, since the item will no longer be available. search words: Hot rod ratrod rat hotrod custom kustom 1926 1927 1928 1929 1930 1931 1932 1933 1934 1935 1936 chopper bobber roadster shitbox rust bucket flathead flat head sedan pick up 39 transmission |

Ford issues four recalls covering 163k vehicles
Tue, 19 Aug 2014Recalls! 2014 will be forever remembered as the year that automakers went recall crazy, with millions and millions of vehicles adding up to crush previous recall records well before the end of the year. Adding to that tally is Ford, which announced a call-back for 163,000 vehicles.
Leading that charge are the 2.0-liter, EcoBoost four-cylinder engines of the Ford Focus ST and Ford Escape. 160,000 of the 2013 and 2014 models have bad wiring harnesses that can disrupt the signals traveling to the powertrain control module. That, in turn, could lead to a check engine light, reduced power and stalling. Notably, Ford hasn't recalled any other vehicles that feature the 2.0 EcoBoost, such as the Fusion, Taurus or Explorer.
While the Focus ST and Escape constitute the vast majority of recalled vehicles, they aren't the only problem children in the Ford family. 1,300 Transit passenger vans from model year 2015 were recalled due to brake fluid leaks, while another 600 Transit cargo variants were recalled after Ford discovered the windowless sliding doors could come open in the event of a side-impact crash. Dealers will replace the sealing washers on the passenger variants and add a reinforcement plate on the cargo models, The Detroit News reports.
Is that the Ford GT Le Mans racer in the background of this Forza video?
Mon, Jan 26 2015Shortly after the reveal of the new Ford GT in Detroit a couple of weeks ago, Microsoft announced that it was putting the new American supercar on the cover of the upcoming sixth installment of the Forza Motorsport video game series. Now it has put out a video of the process of digitizing Dearborn's latest. Whether you're into Detroit steel (or carbon fiber and aluminum in this case), exotic supercars or video games, the video is worth a watch in and of itself. But our eyes were focused on something else. In the background of one shot (around the 1:49 mark) you can see a design board with renderings of what looks to be the rumored racing version of the GT – complete with reshaped air intakes, deeper side sills, a bigger rear wing and a central rear fin like you'd find on the latest LMP1 racing prototypes. It wouldn't be the first time we've caught wind of the prospect of the Blue Oval's new supercar going racing. We first heard of the plans last October, further reinforced in December with reports of the new GT coming to Detroit. And as we reported just a couple of weeks ago following the supercar's reveal, a return to Le Mans could be in the cards – which would be fortuitous timing, since next year will mark the 50th anniversary of the original GT40 scoring its landmark 1-2-3 finish in the 24-hour race.
