1929 Ford Model A Tudor - vin # A1692542 - up for auction with a low reserve. Ready to be restored or turned in to a "Depression Cruzer". This is a solid car and was stored indoors since 1950. The motor runs, lights do not work. The original wiring needs to be replaced because it is cracked. When I got it to restore, it had a dead short in it so I rewired the ignition system so I could get it running. Most of the interior is there, but would need to be replaced. The head liner is gone and a couple of the bows need to be re-glued. The top is not installed, but I have it and will go with the car. I also have a couple of seat covers for the front seats if the winner wants them. The paint is old and needs to be sanded and repainted. This car had been partially restored in 1950 before going into storage. I have a clear title for the car. The Mallory distributor in the pictures has been replaced with a Model A distributor. The red wheels and tires on the front in the video do not go with it and I have the silver wheels and tires like on the rear to put back on and go with the car. Ford says 70% of its models to get stop-start by 2017
Sun, 15 Dec 2013Ford is following up on a report we posted a few weeks back that the Blue Oval would be adding stop-start technology to its entire model range. Now, the Dearborn-based automaker has announced that the fuel-saving feature would be available on 70 percent of the company's range by 2017.
Ford claims the technology will improve fuel economy by around 3.5 percent, although its actual effect will vary based on how the owner drives - apparently up to a 10-percent improvement is possible for those who sit in heavy traffic (Los Angelenos, this means you). The latest recipient of the technology is the updated 2014 Ford Fiesta with the company's three-cylinder EcoBoost powerplant.
Part of the reasoning for the new addition has to do with cost. Ford claims the tech is affordable and easy to implement. "Simply put, Auto Start-Stop helps customers use less fuel, which is an important component of Ford's Blueprint for Sustainability," Ford's global powertrain vice president, Bob Fascetti, said.
Reflecting on the Ford GT on its 10-year anniversary
Thu, 10 Apr 2014Ten years ago, during the bright-eyed enthusiasm of the early 2000s and before the collective automotive industry did its best Titanic impression, we had the Ford GT. An everyman's supercar like there'd never been (remember, this was before 638-horsepower Corvettes were a thing), the GT arrived with a supercharged, 5.4-liter V8 that produced 550 horsepower and graced this retro-styled rocket with an easy, sub-four-second sprint to 60 miles per hour.
Equal to the GT's performance were its looks. Inspired by the GT40 racers that dominated Le Mans and bested Ferrari in the 1960s, the sleek, low, almost-reptilian look of the GT was the absolute pinnacle of the retro styling that so defined the early 2000s.
Crank and Piston put together a video celebrating the ten-year-old GT, arguing that Ford is a bit too busy with the next-gen Mustang, which turns 50 next week, to do it themselves. In the short clip, there is gratuitous engine noise and supercharger whine, not to mention scenes of the white-on-red GT prowling the deserts and streets of Dubai.
