This wonderful old vehicle was probably used to carry luggage from the train station in Colorado; an earlier owner remembers the words "Clays Luggage" faintly painted on the doors. It was completely restored in 1985 by a mechanic who owned an auto parts store. Every part in the engine was new, with adjustable valve tappets,main and rod bearings babbited and line bored. The paint is Rock Moss Green, done by a Model A expert; five coats were applied. Pictures of the restoration and a history of the vehicle are provided. It runs beautifully, looks great, and is fun to own. The true mileage is unknown,even though approximately 44000 is showing on the odometer. The engine is believed to be the original, and there are many other original parts on the car. The interior is new and I am told it is by Lebaron-Bonney. I have owned the car for five years, and in that time I have added an alternator (I will include the original generator), a second light in the back for safety, a new horn, and a driver's seat belt, which can be stowed under the seat if you want to have the car judged in a car show. Pickup sales may hit 2M units for first time since 2007
Sat, 21 Sep 2013Even as fuel prices creep back up, trucks are still a hot item among new-vehicle shoppers. To see how popular pickup trucks still are, you don't have to look any further than how much effort automakers put into the continual one-upmanship of their trucks. Backing this fact up, USA Today is reporting that the segment could top two million sales this year - a total not matched since 2007, though still far from the pre-recession, three-million-unit levels.
Through August, the Ford F-Series continues to be the segment leader with almost 500,000 units sold, but the Chevy Silverado (328,269), Ram 1500 (234,642), GMC Sierra (122,232) and Toyota Tacoma (110,293) are all seeing at least 20-percent sales increases, helping to account for around 1.44 million truck sales so far this year - not including possible outliers like the Suzuki Equator and Chevy Avalanche.
This year alone, General Motors has completely redesigned its fullsize trucks, Ram and Toyota have significantly updated their offerings, the next-gen Ford F-150 will be out next year and Nissan is promising an all-new Titan around the same time with an eventual Cummins diesel under the hood. It would seem, then, that truck sales are poised to continue their upward trend.
Ford reports $3B profit in Q4, $6.9B for the year
Tue, 28 Jan 2014Good news out of Dearborn today, as Ford announced $3 billion in profit for the last quarter of 2013, a 90-percent increase over the same period of 2012. Net income for all of last year, meanwhile, jumped to $7.2 billion from $5.7 billion in 2012, while pre-tax profits sat at a decade-topping $6.9 billion for all of 2013.
The results of the substantial profit increases are bigger profit-sharing checks for UAW employees. How big? A record $8,800 on average for 47,000 UAW workers, making 2013 the biggest year for profit sharing in Ford history. In total, $414 million will be paid as part of the profit-sharing scheme.
Now, it should be pointed out that a fair portion of Ford's Q4 profits were due to tax benefits, totaling $2.1 billion, according to Automotive News. Total profits would have also been higher, had there not been a significant recall on the Escape, as well as plant issues in South America.
