This is a great car to restore.  The sheet metal is great -but  it has been sand blasted in the past and not primed.  As a result, it is covered with surface rust.

Some comments:

---Title - a clear Minnesota title.

---Front fenders - great - no weld, no breaks, no rust thru, and I found no dents.

---Rear fenders - very nice, no weld, no breaks, I found no dents,  but there is some rust holes ins the area where the fender attaches to the body, right above the running board splash aprons.  I believe these can be easily covered and

        hidden.

---Hood - also very nice - no weld, no breaks, no dents,  all surfaces look straight.

---Doors - nice - no dents, no holes in the bottoms  -- applies to both doors.

---Cowl - very nice, no rust out,  no weld, , solid - two holes drilled cleanly  thru on both sides.  Looks like there may have been an aerial attached at one time.

---Running Board splash aprons. - again, very nice - no weld, no rust out, I found no dents.

---Windshield frame - solid, no weld, no bends, no rust out on the bottom,

---Gas tank - nice - solid, no rust out, no dents that I could see, no weld.

---Body - some rust out on the lower part of the rear panel, near where the spare tire hanger sits - it is largely hidden by this bracket.

Otherwise, both side panels, the back panel, the two roof panels appear dent free, no weld, no holes

---Body parts behind rear wheels - there are frequently rust outs in these areas.  On this car, I found none.

---Radiator cover - would be okay for a driver, but not for a show car, as there is significant rust.  Recommend a replacement.

---Splash apron under radiator - pained, looks okay, no rust out or weld.

---Firewall - significant hole - could be where someone had a manifold heater.  Needs a piece of metal welded, or bolted, in.

---Running boards -solid - will need new rubber covering, and new edge strips.

---Glass - all glass is present and looks ok.   The windshield is some imperfections, and should be replaced for safety reasons alone as  original Model A glass is very dangerous.

On all the other glass, I personally replaced all of it on the Tudor I restored because of safety reasons, but you make your own decision.

---Interior trim -  looks like most, if not all, of the window trim is present.   Only a couple of door and window handles present for the outside of the car.

---Dash rail - present, surface rust, but no extra holes. - very use able.

---Speedometer, amp meter, ignition cable, key - not present.

----Windshield wiper - vacuum wiper is present.

---Wood - is surprisingly solid - some/most of it may be useable, but the roof bows, one is warped.

----Seats - two front seats, and one rear seat is included.  - The wood frames may be useable.

----Radiator - looks good, may be an original ( I'm not sure) but no serious gouges on it.

--- Motor - is stuck

---Generator, starter, carb, distributor, tranny, rear end, all are present, but need rebuilding.

---Horn - no horn present

---Tires - shot, all need replacing.

---Chassis - complete but rusted,  needs sandblasting.

----Shocks - 4 shock bodies (stuck) and a couple of arms.

---Headlights - nice lenses, but the buckets may, or may not, be useable. I've seen worse, and I've seen better.

---Tail light - should be replaced

---Rear bumper bracket is broken, but there is a replacement bracket that goes with the car.

This would be an excellent car to restore.  The chassis and motor should be all gone thru but the sheet metal is unbelieveably nice, for original items.

Typically, you would have to replace all 4 fenders and the hood, at a cost of $1500 +, but here there is no reed to replace them ( in my opinion)

Use the buy-it-now, or bid high, and get a good restoration project.

Ford EcoBoost smashes records at Daytona

Thu, 10 Oct 2013

Some mighty machines have lapped the banks of the Daytona International Speedway over the years: thunderous V8-powered stock cars, Le Mans-conquering Group C prototypes, open-wheel Champ Cars, knee-dragging superbikes... heck, the infield lake has even hosted powerboat racing. But this - this is the fastest car ever to lap the legendary raceway.
What you're looking at is the new Daytona Prototype being prepared by Riley Technologies for the new United SportsCar Championship. The car, released just last week, is powered by a new 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 from Ford's EcoBoost family, and just obliterated the top speed at the track with a blistering 222.971 miles per hour through the traps.
That's enough to annihilate the previous record that was set, also under Ford power, by Bill Elliott while placing his Thunderbird on pole for the 1987 Daytona 500 that he would go on to win. His 210.364 mph record had stood for 26 years until now.

Ford's official Euro aftermarket partner Mountune coming to US

Tue, 06 Aug 2013

Now that we're getting a steady stream of Ford's European offerings, the aftermarket world is finally starting to catch up as well. UK-based aftermarket tuning company, Mountune has just announced that it will be setting up shop in California to provide high-performance and racing parts for Ford vehicles including the Focus ST and Fiesta ST.
Mountune lays claim to being Ford's "official European tuning partner," and US buyers will soon have access to these parts through Ford dealerships and with a Ford Racing warranty. Speaking of Ford Racing, Mountune also says that it will be working with Ford's in-house team to develop future components for both street and track. There are no specifics as of yet for which products will be offered here, but the company plans to launch a US-specific website later this month with more information.
