1929 FORD A-V8 5 WINDOW COUPE

PERIOD CORRECT EARLY 1950’S HOT ROD

This award winning car is currently featured in the April issue of STREET RODDER MAGAZINE

? This traditional hot rod was built to replicate a car built in 1950.  Starting with a complete, stock, running 1929 Ford Model A, the car was disassembled, saving the frame and body as the foundation for the build.

? The frame was boxed, Z’d 5” and uses a 1932 K-member.

? The engine is a Ford 8BA Flathead built by H & H Flatheads.  It runs Mercury heads, Offenhauser intake with 2 Stromberg 97’s, Mallory dual point distributor and Red’s Headers with Smitty’s mufflers.

? Behind the engine is a 1939 Mercury transmission and a 1948 Ford rear end with Lincoln axles connected with a 12” shortened Lincoln torque tube.

? Steering is a modified Ford F-1 box and brakes are early Ford drum.

? Front wheels are 1940 Ford 16 x 4 steel with 5.50 x 16 Firestone Deluxe Champions.  Rear wheels are 16 x 7 steel with 7.50 x 16 Firestone Deluxe Champions.  All wheels have 1941 Ford hub cabs with trim rings.

? The original Ford body was chopped 3 1/2 ”, retains the rumble seat, original gas tank and was painted 1936 Ford Washington Blue.

? The interior has a 1936 Ford dash, 1940 Ford steering wheel, Stewart Warner “wings” gauges, custom oak slat headliner and light Oxblood vinyl upholstery with black cut-pile carpet.

? This traditional hot rod was completed in November 2012 and has received awards at every showing.  Some of which are:

November 2012 – Goodguys Del Mar – Rodders Rep Pick

   January 2013 – GNRS – Club Pick

April 2013 – Goodguys Del Mar – PPG Dream Car

September 2013 – Orange Co Cruising Association – Hollywood Hot Rods – Hottest Hot Rod Pick

Ford Mondeo with 1.5-liter EcoBoost debuts in China

Sat, 20 Apr 2013

Does the car above, posing fancifully in white, look familiar? Well, it should. Although it wears Mondeo badges in the form you see above for the Chinese market - as it does in Europe - the car is basically the same thing sold in the US as the Ford Fusion. Of course, it's what's under that shapely skin that counts.
Ford has chosen the Shanghai Motor Show as the venue with which to unveil its 1.5-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine. We'd heard about the engine before, but now we have a few performance estimates to share: 133 kW of power (about 178 horsepower) and 240 Nm of torque (about 177 pound-feet).
Those numbers pretty much confirm previous rumors indicating about 177 in each category, and it's right on par with what Ford's own 1.6-liter EcoBoost produces. Ford is claiming best-in-class fuel economy as well, but no specific figures have yet been provided. In any case, we'll surely have all the data soon enough, as the 1.5-liter mill is destined for the US Fusion in 2014.

How Ford secretly used customers to test its aluminum F-150 [w/video]

Fri, 30 May 2014

Automakers getting clever about disguising development vehicles isn't anything new. Between mules wearing the sheetmetal of other cars and prototypes decked out in as much camouflage as is practical, automakers know how to make it very difficult for the general public to get an exact idea of what kind of vehicle is in development. Ford, though, is rapidly becoming the master.
We knew that the Blue Oval originally tested the durability of the aluminum construction being used for the 2015 F-150 by building an all-aluminum 2014 truck and entering it in the Baja 1000 off-road race. That's no longer a secret. What we didn't know, though, is that the aluminum development dates back to before even that, and that some of the people in question had no idea what it was they were working with.
Ford says this is the first time prototypes have ever been handed over to the public.

2015 Ford Mustang to offer solid-rear axle, sort of

Tue, 17 Dec 2013

One of the biggest knocks against the last Ford Mustang was its solid-rear axle. Not one to actively court criticism, Ford dutifully swapped out the old-fashioned rear end for something a bit more modern in the redesigned 2015 Mustang, adding an independent rear suspension across the board.
While an IRS Mustang is great news for those that value handling and ride comfort, there's one big group that it's bad news for - drag racers. See, a solid-rear axle is a big deal for drag racers, because not only is it more durable and cheaper, but it's better for the hard launches that can make or break a race.
To satiate this vocal demographic, Ford will sell a body-in-white version of the Stang, complete with a nine-inch rear axle, that will debut at the 2014 Performance Racing Industry show. The news came from gas2.org, which cited an unnamed employee of Ford Racing at this year's PRI show.
