1928 Ford Model A Coupe on 2040-cars

Year:1928 Mileage:49245
Location:

Cheraw, South Carolina, United States

Cheraw, South Carolina, United States

Model A coupe that is an inherited vehicle. It's been in my family for roughly 40 years. I don't know much about Model As, so I'm including lots of photos. This car is sold as-is. I will try to answer questions to the best of my ability.
Clear title that lists this coupe as a 1928.  This car was taken off the road and stored in a dry barn from 1983-2000.  We pulled it out in 2000 and a local Model A mechanic had it running in just a few days. We drove the car for a few years and its been back in the same barn ever since. The engine is free from what I can tell.  It is all steel.
I will assist with shipping in any way I can.  The cost of shipping is the buyer's responsibility.
If you have any questions, just ask!  Thank you for looking.

I also forgot to mention that the cloth top has a decent sized hole on the top center.  (It obviously needs replacing anyway)

Forgive me for not being a car guy, but I've done some research about turning the crankshaft pulley to see if a motor is free.  I tried to do it today, but its not easy to get to because of the radiator being in the way.  I couldn't move it with my hand, but I also had a poor grip.  I will try to get someone to put a wrench on it and find out for sure before the auction ends.  Thanks!

On Jul-17-14 at 15:56:44 PDT, seller added the following information:

I pushed on the fan belt to tighten it and then turned the fan.  Viola, the crankshaft pulley turned so I can now say that the motor is FREE.

Also, the serial number on the motor is A227694 and the serial number on the title is the same.

The big dune jump and the damage done

Mon, 20 May 2013

The Silver Lake sand dunes see their fair share of well-built trophy trucks executing impressive jumps. Drivers build insane pieces of machinery for the express purpose of sailing through the air like mad men and women.
Mike Higgins is no stranger to the area. His heavily modified Ford trophy truck has gone flying through the sky on more than one occasion, but he recently bit off more than he could chew. After hitting a particularly lofty dune, Higgins went airborne for a ridiculous 180 feet before becoming intimately familiar with the finer points of gravity.
While Higgins nailed the jump, his landing fell short of wowing the judges. The impact very nearly broke his truck in two. Despite the mechanical mayhem, the driver walked away without a scratch, proving that occasionally miracles really do happen. You can check out the jump and the subsequent destruction below for yourself. Be warned: there's a fair bit of foul language.

Stock Miata beats bunch of high-powered cars in wet 1/4-mile drag race

Thu, 06 Jun 2013

When is a stock, 167-horsepower Mazda MX-5 Miata quicker than a Chevrolet Corvette, Ford Mustang, Lamborghini Gallardo, Lotus Elise and a Porsche 911? When it's raining. Sort of.
Mazda Canada arranged a unique drag race to show off the fact that the Miata's optional power retractable folding hardtop can go from top-down to top-up in just 12 seconds flat. In this video, all six cars line up for a drag race, and it starts to rain (well, sort of - but you'll have to watch the video all the way to the end to see what we mean). The green flag is waved, and the timer starts as soon as the convertibles begin to put their tops up. But because the Miata's roof mechanism gets the car's roof back up a full 5.1 seconds quicker than the second-place car, the Mazda gets a serious advantage off the line for the actual drag race.
It's a fun video. And while we've spoiled the results (come on, the video was uploaded by Mazda, you knew the Miata was going to win), be sure to see how it all unfolds, below.

2015 Ford Focus Electric hides in plain sight

Wed, 16 Apr 2014

The styling changes to the 2015 Ford Focus were shown off at the recent Geneva Motor Show, so what the EV version looks like is not that much of a surprise. Still, the 2015 Focus Electric is making its world debut here at the New York Auto Show, so we wanted to know what changes we are looking at compared to both the internal combustion engine version and the earlier EV models.
The exterior visual distinctions between the ICE and EV are minimal, and basically nonexistent from the A-pillar to the rear. Up front, you can see the charge port, of course, but the front fascia has also undergone a bit of an adjustment. The front doesn't have the ICE version's flattened grille and the EV's Ford logo creates a bump in the hood line where none exists on the ICE. The 2015's grille is also different than the one on the 2014 Focus Electric, being slightly smaller (you can see this better if you compare pictures in our new gallery above to these of the 2011 Focus Electric and these of the gas-powered 2015 Focus).
The updated 2015 interior - which we couldn't access ourselves - has things like a new center stack, improved cupholders and is basically identical between the gas and electric models. With the car off, you can't even tell if you're in an EV or ICE, Seema Bardwaj, the US brand manager for the Focus, told AutoblogGreen. The only things that are different, she said, are extra menu screens to show EV powertrain information to the driver.
