This RARE 1961 Ford Galaxie Sunliner turns heads everywhere it goes, and always draws the biggest crowds at the cruise in! Thumbs up every time it hits the road! People who aren't even into cars inquire and comment on how much they like this vintage ride.

This Sunliner is a 100% Rust Free car! The last year of the tail fin fenders the 61 Sunliner is one of those convertibles that looks just as good with the top up as the top down. The body lines are nice and straight with all the gaps between doors & fenders, and trunk & hood even. No door sag. The hood and trunk align correctly as well open and close just like they should.  It has been repainted in the factory Ford Crystal Green. I'm unsure of the age of the paint, but as you can see in the pics and video it shines very well with only a few chips/blemishes from driving which I've included close up pics of below. Being particular I would give the paint a 8 of 10. A really nice driver paint job, but not "show car" quality. The chrome is in very good condition and shows very well. The trim is also in good shape and shines up well with only a couple of very minor dings. The car also looks very good and clean underneath as well  with no rust on the X-frame Chassis and all the wiring in looms tucked back on P clips.

The FE 390 Ford big block engine was just gone through by the previous owner, and has a nice sounding rough idle cam. It gets it's fuel from a Holley 750cfm 4 barrel carb with electronic choke for reliability and performance. New 2.5 " exhaust from the factory cast iron headers back with Flomaster mufflers that sounds great as you can hear fro yourself in the video link I will include below. The T10 Borg Warner 4 speed transmission with competition Hurst shifter puts all the power to the Ford 9" rear end. All this combines for a very strong and reliable power plant that will have you feeling like you are in a racecar! You can just cruise her around to look good, but if you need the power it's there. Very fast for it's large size!!

The interior on the car is 2 tone blue all original except for the drivers side seat panel that has been replaced, and the fresh blue OEM style carpet kit. This is really one of the highlights of the car as you can see in the photos the colors are stunning and blend together perfectly for a striking appearance. It also has a beautiful handmade custom console painted in the factory Crystal Green that houses a 3 piece gauge cluster, stereo head unit, and door activated interior lights. It looks very classy and fit's the car as if it came from the factory that way. This adds a touch of modern convenience being able to plug in your Ipod and enjoy to your favorite tunes while cruising in your 50 year old classic. The convertible top is in great shape with no tears or rips in the canvas and no cloudiness in the window. The power top works flawless with no catches that you can see for yourself in the video link posted below.

The car gets it's aggressive stance from new aftermarket coil springs in the front with American Racing Daytona 17x7 wheels up front and matching 17x9 wheels in the back. It has new shocks all the way around as well as a rebuilt front end with sway bar and all new urethane bushings. It hits the road well and handles very tight with no slop or sway.

Overall this an extremely clean, good looking, reliable classic car that gets a lot of attention and is very fun to drive. I just drove it to the Rod Run in the Tennessee mountains last month on a 400+ mile trip with absolutely no issue. I would get in it and drive it anywhere. Auto critic calls out Corvette, Mustang and Cherokee faithful

Mon, 26 Aug 2013

Most automotive purists fear change, but not without reason. Change, after all, did kill big-block V8s, along with most station wagons and manual transmissions. But change has also brought with it far more performance, safety and fuel economy - not to mention ridding the world of shag carpet interiors, bias-ply tires and those horrible motorized seatbelts of the early '90s.
By this time next year, the Chevy Corvette, Jeep Cherokee and next-generation Ford Mustang will all be on sale and will all, in some way, have angered or offended purists. To those critics, Mark Phelan of the Detroit Free Press is preemptively telling them to stop complaining - at least until they've all been driven. From the Corvette's square taillights and the Cherokee's radical nose to whatever pony car purists will harp on the 2015 Mustang for, Phelan's column points out the positives of automotive evolution and the negatives of staying the course for too long. That's fair enough, but do you think Phelan is on point, or all wet? Head on over to the Detroit Free Press to read his words, then have your say in Comments.

Hot sales have Detroit automakers shortening summer shutdowns

Tue, 08 Jul 2014

Back in May, there was speculation that the Detroit Three automakers would maintain or perhaps even extend their traditional summer shutdowns, mostly due to a bitingly cold winter that saw below-freezing temperatures infiltrate the southernmost reaches of the US, putting a chill on auto sales. Now, though, the numbers are in, and thanks to some promising sales figures, it looks like some domestic line workers are going to be working clear through July, in some cases.
According to Automotive News, Ford has slashed its traditional two-week hiatus for factory workers in half at four of its plants, while both Chrysler and General Motors will keep factories running nonstop (two plants in Chrysler's case and a third of GM's factories).
This is, as we said, thanks to some positive numbers. Chief among those is the Seasonal Adjusted Annual Rate, which was at an eight-year high of 17 million units. Individual figures were less promising. GM, embroiled in its recall scandal, still saw a one-percent increase while Ford dropped six percent in year-over-year sales. Chrysler was the big winner, though, with a nine-percent jump in June.

Ford E-Series chassis cabs and cutaways to survive mass Transit onslaught

Fri, 18 Apr 2014

In March 2013, Ford announced we'd be getting chassis cab and cutaway versions of the Transit. Since incoming Transit vans will soon be rolling over the grave of the E-Series van, it was assumed that all E-Series models would go six feet under as well. According to a report from PickupTrucks.com, however, that's not the case, the report claiming that the highly modifiable E-350 and E-450 chassis cab and cutaway versions will continue being produced in Avon Lake, Ohio "at least until 2020."
Being decades old, the be-cabbed E-Series platform has found its way under an army of heavy-duty shuttle buses, work truck and ambulances. Ford spokeswoman Jessica Enoch verified the production horizon, telling Autoblog that the particular E-Series configuration "are a higher GVWR than the Transit chassis cab and cutaway (available this summer), which is more Class 2 and a new segment for us." So there you have it.
