The 1971 Ford LTD Convertible Coupe was the first of its kind for the legendary automobile manufacturer, and one of the last as well. This was one of 5,750 LTD Convertibles made in 1971.

This incredibly spacious car is a true luxury ride, with plenty of room for those of us of generous dimensions, even in the back seat. It is designed for 6 passengers, seat belts for all. I have owned and enjoyed this car since 1988 and drove it daily until the fall of 1998. At that time, I decided to have the engine rebuilt and have it painted and the top replaced. Since that time, I have gone through the brakes, fuel tank, replaced the radiator, had bumpers re-chromed and did my best to make it a great car ready to drive anywhere. It is a real eye-catcher wherever you go.

This car has been freshly painted and has no rust. The engine has been completely rebuilt with new pistons, cam, lifters, timing components, and bearings. The brakes have been completely upgraded including new calipers, pads, hardware, rear shoes, rear wheel cylinders and new brake hardware. The radiator is new, as are the water pump and fuel pump. All tune up parts are new. The fuel tank has been replaced with a new one. The wheels and tires are new, 15” Cragar SS wheels. I still have the original wheel covers in excellent condition. The LTD has a new top and new carpet that matches the original.  I also have a second new top in the box and a new carpet also in the box. The bumpers have both been re-chromed and are in perfect condition. The engine and transmission are original to the car. The 400 CID with the C6 transmission are ready to go. The NADA retail for this car is $15,942.00

Full-size Fords were totally restyled for 1971. The look begins with a prominent vertical grille theme evolved from 1969-1970 LTDs and XLs. Headlamps are exposed, but set in deep cavities that flanked the central grille. The trailing edge of the domed hood conceals the windshield wipers. On the sides, a pair of creases bulges out from the far ends of the car, then fade again toward the middle. A large inset cove under the trunk lid holds the taillights, which are a three-section design on LTDs and Broughams. Inside, there is a new, flatter instrument panel. The instrument panel was newer and flatter than in previous models. A power ventilation system was newly standard. Growing concerns about vehicle safety were addressed by steel "Guard Rails" now built inside each door.

LTD standard equipment includes power front disc brakes, a self-regulating clock, and wood grain interior appliques. The convertible added vinyl upholstery and a five-ply vinyl power top (in a choice of white or black) with a tempered glass rear window. Soft-top prices began at $4,094.Vinyl interior was one of the LTD's standard options. Power comes from a 260-bhp 400 V-8 with a two-barrel carburetor. Other accessories include power steering, power front seat, AM/FM stereo, air conditioning, and deluxe wheel covers.

2014 Ford Fiesta gets fuel economy bump to 41 mpg

Fri, 07 Jun 2013

The 2014 Ford Fiesta is in showrooms now with refreshed styling and new performance ST model, but it's what isn't yet available that should help the Fiesta stand out from the growing crowd of subcompacts. Aside from the new 1.0-liter EcoBoost model coming later this year, Ford recently told us that a new Fiesta SFE trim level is on the way that should put the updated Fiesta at the top of its class for fuel economy.
The new Fiesta SFE will hit an estimated 41 miles per gallon on the highway when equipped with the six-speed automatic transmission. The current listing on fueleconomy.gov shows the 2014 Fiesta getting up to 29 mpg city and 39 highway, but the SFE will get minor aero tuning and a recalibrated engine controller to help bump the highway figure past rivals like the Chevrolet Sonic and Nissan Versa - both of which top out at 40-mpg highway. There's still no word as to when the small 1.0-liter EcoBoost will show in the US, but Ford has indicated that engine's fuel economy isn't expected to be released until October.

Ford wins second consecutive International Van of the Year award with Transit Connect

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

The redesigned 2014 Ford Transit Connect isn't even on sale yet, but it's already making its presence felt around the world. At a commercial vehicle expo in Russia, the Transit Connect was named the International Van of the Year.
Ford's small work van edged out the new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter by just seven points to allow Ford to grab this honor for the second consecutive year, which it won last year with the Transit Custom. Not only does this make Ford the first to ever win the award in back-to-back years, but it's also the fifth time the automaker has won this award since 2003 (two with the Transit Connect, two with the fullsize Transit and once with the Transit Custom). Ford congratulates itself for the accomplishment in a press release posted below.

First retail 2015 Ford Mustang headed to Barrett-Jackson

Fri, 20 Dec 2013

Want to be the very first person to own a 2015 Ford Mustang GT? Here's what you'll need to do: be in Scottsdale, AZ on January 18 for the Barrett-Jackson auction and bring a very big checkbook. Having a passion for charity isn't a bad idea either.
Yes, the first 2015 Mustang to be sold to the public will be crossing the block at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, with proceeds from the auction going to JDRF, the charity formerly known as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
"Ford Mustangs have always been among the most popular collector cars at Barrett-Jackson Collector Car events," said the president of Barrett-Jackson, Steve Davis. "While every collector wishes they had snapped up the first Mustang sold in 1964, this is an opportunity to realize that dream in a different way."
