This is a very nice driver car mostly original in condition. It has a new rebuilt engine and transmission, new top, complete new a/c system including everything, tires replaced, new brakes was a daily driver over 50 miles a day. This car runs cool and starts right up. I appears to still have the original interior. The car belonged to a friend of mine who passed. I purchased it from his widow. This car has sat in storage for the past couple of years and I have made it a point to drive and start the car on a regular basis. I have driven the car and it runs down the road smoothly.
Mechanically the car is ready to drive and enjoy. It still has the original paint and it is down to the metal along the top of the drivers fender. Looks like someone took a buffer to it at some point. Interior has a couple wear points showing through on the drivers seat (very minor). The worst points on the car is some rust on the rear where it is bubbling the paint. These spots are not rusted through and seem to be isolated to the rear along the bottom and the fuel door. Possible coming from the top letting water in where it should. This car is not a rust bucket because the trunk floor and rockers etc are all solid. If you decide to have the car painted I would fix these spots at that time. The other bad point on the car is the dash which has cracks and is breaking up. My contact number is 410 533 5347 (work cell phone) ask for Sterling in Big Sandy Open to TRADES NEW OR OLD This is not a Galaxie just an XL could not list it properly. XL was to be an individual line for ford as I understand it. |

Ford EcoBoost V6 hits the dyno before hitting the track
Wed, 02 Oct 2013Ford Racing just unveiled the Riley Daytona Prototype that will make its racing in the United SportsCar Racing Championship Rolex 24 at Daytona in January, and now it has released a video showing development of twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 that powers the car. Using the same block and heads that can be found on a production Ford Taurus SHO, this new racecar benefits from the collaboration between Ford Racing and Ford powertrain engineers.
While we still don't know what kind of power this engine is putting out, it has definitely gotten a workout at Ford's 17G dyno. This area deep within Ford allows the automaker's racing program to work hand-in-hand with production engine programs, which can be a benefit to racing operations and production cars alike. Scroll down to hear a few people from Ford talk about the crosspollination between its racing and engine teams and watch the EcoBoost get red hot on the dyno.
BMW V8-powered Ford Model A is the definition of Hot Rod
Thu, 20 Jun 2013Today, hotrodding has a pretty staid definition. Take one classic American car, add one classic American V8, sprinkle with tire smoke and you pretty much have every hot rod to roll out of a shop in the last 40 years. Mike Borroughs knows it wasn't always this way. Once upon a time, getting your bucket to go faster meant grabbing whatever parts were lazing about the yard, bolting them together with a bit of ingenuity and laughing your way down the quarter mile. It's in that spirit that Burroughs built his 1928 Ford Model A.
Rather than turn to the tired flathead or the common Chevrolet small block, Burroughs plucked a 4.0-liter V8 from a 1995 BMW 7 Series. With 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, the engine has no trouble shuffling the old A around town. He had to build a custom chassis to get everything to cooperate, but the result is a 1,500-pound heathen that looks built to harass dry lake beds. You can check it out in the video below. Be warned, the soundtrack by Hanni el Khatib may not be safe for work - awesomeness of this caliber rarely is.
Leno talks racing with NASCAR racer Joey Logano
Wed, 02 Jul 2014Jay Leno has to be under significant pressure knowing the appetite his fans have for a new Jay Leno's Garage video every week. This time, Jay takes a break from his usual format (something he's been doing with some frequency as of late) and goes back to his roots as a talk show host. There's no classic in the garage his episode with an interesting story to tell and a sumptuous exhaust note. Instead, the focus is purely on interviewing 23-year-old NASCAR racer Joey Logano about what it's like to be a racecar driver in his Ford Fusion.
Logano started racing at the tender age of six and has risen up the circle-track ranks to the big show of the NASCAR Sprint Cup. The two of them talk about what it's like to compete in the sport today compared to yesteryear, and Logano shares some racing anecdotes. Of course, they also get into what it's like to be on the racetrack controlling a car with about 850 horsepower, a four-speed manual transmission and brakes without any power boost. Scroll down to watch the video.
