1970 Ford Country Sedan, Runs And Drives Great , Good Condition, No Reserve! on 2040-cars
Orange, California, United States
This listing is for my 1970 Ford Country Sedan. It has the original numbers matching 390V8 with a C6 automatic transmission. This is an original California car, it does not have any rust and has not been wrecked! I have the CA title in my name, the license is current through January 2015, this car does NOT require a CA smog test. I bough this car from a friend of mine who owned a tow yard. In order to get the car re-registered we had to do a salvage sale, hence the salvage title. This has been my daily driver on and off over the past seven years. The engine and transmission were rebuilt at about 98,000 miles by the previous owner. All the work that has been done to the car since I have owned it has been done in the last four years and less than five thousand miles. The car is now, almost, completely done. Only the interior needs a little work and a good detail. The car was recently painted. The car still needs a little work to be complete. The front door panels are not as nice as I would like, the car needs a new headliner, some small interior trim and the rear side storage compartments need to be carpeted. Now on the positive side. The car has leather bucket seats, the front two are power. The rear two fold flat to increase load capacity. The power steering box is new, it also has a new power steering pump, new power steering hoses, a new Edelbrock 4BBl carburetor, a new Malory unilite distributor, new plug wires, new spark plugs, a new HP coil and new water pump. It has a new thermostat, the tires have less than five hundred miles on them, the heater and defroster system is a new. All the hoses and belts are new, it has a new aluminum cross flow radiator, new brakes, new front spindles, new front brake calipers, new tie rod ends, new idler arm, new upper and lower control arm bushings, new strut rod bushings and new brake hoses. The rear axle bearings and seals were replaced. It has a new NASCAR style dash board with all new gauges and switches, the instrument and dashboard wiring was all replaced along with new fuse panels and circuit breakers. The new dashboard and speedometer were installed at the same time as most of the other work was done. The car only has 2,402 mile on it since the dashboard and most of the other work was completed. The old speedometer had 129,464 mile on it . So the total mileage on the car is only 131,866! The carpet is new, it has a floor mounted shifter, the steering column was replaced and a new steering wheel. The paint is only about two month old, never even been waxed yet! This car is a great daily driver, it starts, runs and drives very good. I wouldn't hesitated to drive it on a long trip! wish I had the money and health to do the little things to finish this car. But I don't, so I have to sell it! I am selling my wagon as-is with NO RESERVE! The high bidder gets it, bid to win, this is a great driver! Thanks for looking, good luck bidding.

Pickup prices rising at 2x industry average
Tue, 11 Jun 2013We've said it before, but bears repeating: Pickup trucks are the financial engines of America's automakers. Good thing, then, that the segment is in rude health - in fact, Automotive News is suggesting that pickup truck sales are arguably healthier than they were pre-recession, even though the segment's volume is still significantly down from where it was before the bottom fell out of the US economy. That's because per-unit profits on full-size trucks are skyrocketing, outpacing the industry's average price increases by more than double since 2005. According to data from Edmunds, the average transaction price of a full-size pickup is now $39,915 - a heady increase over the $31,059 average price in 2005 - a gain of over 8 percent after inflation is factored in.
Just how important are trucks to automakers' bottom lines? Automotive News quotes a Morgan Stanley analyst as saying the Ford F-Series is responsible for 90 percent of the company's 2012 profits, and General Motors isn't far behind, with the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra twins chipping in about two-thirds of the automaker's earnings.
Automotive News points out that Detroit's automakers now have the money to invest in modernizing their full-size truck offerings, in part because they don't have the same overhead and legacy costs that pushed General Motors and Chrysler into bankruptcy. Certainly, the pickup segment has seen a lot of innovations as of late, including turbocharged V6s, coil-spring rear suspensions and active aero. Those improvements in important areas like fuel economy and ride comfort have given existing pickup buyers new reasons to upgrade. In addition, automakers are piling on the tech and luxury goodies, creating more and more high-content, high-profit models like the Ford F-150 King Ranch, Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn and Chevrolet Silverado High Country (shown).
Ford GT40 makes historic return to racing at Goodwood
Wed, 23 Oct 2013Is there a more iconic, American racecar than the Ford GT40? That may be a discussion for another day (although by all means, tell us how wrong we are in Comments), but this video of heaps of GT40s running in the Goodwood Revival races certainly has us thinking that Ford's Ferrari-killer might just be the best racer the Land Of The Free and Home Of The Brave has ever come up with.
That's completely ignoring the fact that the GT40 was largely developed by Brits using American money, but that's besides the point (there was also a rather brash Texan, who had a big role later in development). The resulting vehicle was dominant, besting the cars of Il Commendatore from 1966 to 1969, although it should be noted that Ford's GT40 was unable to beat Ferrari in its first two Le Mans outings in 1964 and 1965.
Those four years of dominance, which started with Ford sweeping the podium, were enough to establish the GT40's legend. And now, here we are almost 50 years later, celebrating the mid-engined monsters at Goodwood, in their first ever one-make race. Take a look below for the entire video.
