1969 Ford XL Fastback (Sportroof), 390 "Y" code original motor, original 3 speed FMX auto transmission, driveline, and rear end. 74k Original Box "A" actual miles!!!

This XL is gorgeous inside and out!  The car was assembled in Atlanta, GA. and spent most of its past 45 years with its second owner in Indiana.  I purchased the car 4 months ago when the previous owner moved from Indiana here to Arizona.  The previous owner was a car enthusiast like myself, and kept this car in a climate controlled garage its entire life.  He started restoration on the XL, and had put a new period correct Candy Apple Red paint job on the car that looks amazing, which is the cars first repaint - the original color of the car was Champagne Gold.  He also had the A/C compressor rebuilt, added brand new brakes, wheels and tires, Holley 4 barrel Double Pumper 850cfm carburetor, and aftermarket carpet in the interior.

Over the past four months, I have completed most of the restoration on the car, including having a new headliner and sail panels professionally installed, package shelf reupholstered, new rear speakers installed, original door panels dyed to match the interior, re-freshed the under chassis with new paint, refreshed the motor and motor compartment with new paint, rebuilt the carburetor, replaced the valve covers with period correct Mickey Thompson's with new gaskets, replaced all vaccum lines, restored the grille area, repainted the trunk with correct spatter paint finish, added a new dash cap, had the original factory AM/FM radio rebuilt and installed, new belts, fluids, filters, aftermarket Ford Air Cleaner, shocks front and rear, the list goes on.

This car just passed Arizona's strict Emissions, and has been professionally tuned.  I have owned over 21 classic cars in my time, and this XL by far starts, runs, drives, handles, stops, and turns better than any I've owned.  The car runs better than it did when new, and needs nothing mechanically.  This car could be driven anywhere with confidence, very solid and reliable, motor runs cool, and smooth, and the original FMX auto transmission shifts smoothly, and is tight as it should be.

Included in the purchase of this XL is the original owners manual with documentation of ownership, and maintenance, Two original build sheets, verifying all components are original and match (Motor, Transmission, Driveshaft, and Rear End), as well as the original keys.  Also included is a transferrable warranty for the newer wheels and tires.

Although this car is extremely clean, and I'm sure will not disappoint, it does have its small flaws.  I have listed them as follows:

- This is a factory A/C car, and I have all components needed to hook it up, however I haven't done so yet.  All A/C parts will be included with the sale of the car, ready to put back on the car by the new owner.

- There is one very small ding at the bottom of the drivers side door, paint isn't cracked in this area, but there is a small ding about the size of a pencil eraser in circumference. Rest of the car is lazer straight with NO RUST ISSUES.

- Rear seat is original, and in great shape, however the front seats are buckets from a same year Torino that look great, however not the original bench seat as the car came with.  **All seats are in great shape, but the front buckets have a couple small areas where the vinyl is starting to crack by the side outer top as you might notice in the pictures.  Seats are still very presentable and structurally sound.

- there are two small paint chips that I have repaired with paint touch up, one is on the passenger side of the hood on the very far corner, and the other is on the drivers side of the hood far corner.  The previous owner hadn't aligned the hood back up correctly after paint when he tried to shut it and created the two small chips.....they are very minimal and not a big deal, but again I want the potential buyer to know everything!

- Factory Clock works when it wants to, some days it will work, others it will not, not sure why this is.  Other than this EVERYTHING on this car works, including the cig lighter, turn signals, hazards, Factory AM/FM radio, windshield wipers, dome lights, etc.

- Center console is custom made from my upholsterer, but isn't original, looks great, and flows very well with the interior.

- Hide away headlights work properly, however after the car is parked / turned off for more than 30 minutes, the headlamp doors slowly rise back up in full open position instead of staying down like they should.  This is a simple fix as its just a slow vaccum line leak somewhere that I haven't had the time to track down.

- Door panels are original, but have been re-dyed professionally.  All door panels are in great shape, the drivers door panel however had a small tear patched before we dyed them which you can see in the picture. Still looks presentable, but if I had the choice I would have it redone, or replaced.

- All chrome on the car is original, and has some small pitting in areas showing its age, but overall shows well, is still bright, shiny, and straight.

Other than the items listed above, this car is very clean, and a well done example of an XL, buyer will not be disappointed!  If you have any questions about the car, please feel free to contact me directly at (602)799-2309.  I want to be as upfront and honest as possible, and make sure the future owner of this beautiful car is fully satisfied and aware of everything.

Which electric cars can charge at a Tesla Supercharger?

Sun, Jul 9 2023

The difference between Tesla charging and non-Tesla charging. Electrify America; Tesla Tesla's advantage has long been its charging technology and Supercharger network. Now, more and more automakers are switching to Tesla's charging tech. But there are a few things non-Tesla drivers need to know about charging at a Tesla station. A lot has hit the news cycle in recent months with regard to electric car drivers and where they can and can't plug in. The key factor in all of that? Whether automakers switched to Tesla's charging standard. More car companies are shifting to Tesla's charging tech in the hopes of boosting their customers' confidence in going electric.  Here's what it boils down to: If you currently drive a Tesla, you can keep charging at Tesla charging locations, which use the company's North American Charging Standard (NACS), which has long served it well. The chargers are thinner, more lightweight and easier to wrangle than other brands.  If you currently drive a non-Tesla EV, you have to charge at a non-Tesla charging station like that of Electrify America or EVgo — which use the Combined Charging System (CCS) — unless you stumble upon a Tesla charger already equipped with the Magic Dock adapter. For years, CCS tech dominated EVs from everyone but Tesla.  Starting next year, if you drive a non-Tesla EV (from the automakers that have announced they'll make the switch), you'll be able to charge at all Supercharger locations with an adapter. And by 2025, EVs from some automakers won't even need an adaptor.  Here's how to charge up, depending on which EV you have:  Ford 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. Tim Levin/Insider Ford was the earliest traditional automaker to team up with Tesla for its charging tech. Current Ford EV owners — those driving a Ford electric vehicle already fitted with a CCS port — will be able to use a Tesla-developed adapter to access Tesla Superchargers starting in the spring. That means that, if you own a Mustang Mach-E or Ford F-150 Lightning, you will need the adapter in order to use a Tesla station come 2024. But Ford will equip its future EVs with the NACS port starting in 2025 — eliminating the need for any adapter. Owners of new Ford EVs will be able to pull into a Supercharger station and juice up, no problem. General Motors Cadillac Lyriq. Cadillac GM will also allow its EV drivers to plug into Tesla stations.

Weekly Recap: Chevy and Alfa plot comeback strategies

Sat, Jun 27 2015

Chevrolet and Alfa Romeo were two of the 20th Century's most iconic automotive brands. Chevy embodied America's post-war power and confidence. Alfa was the definition of the stylish Italian sports car. They reached halcyon heights in the 1950s and '60s, before declining precipitously amid new competition, changing consumer tastes, and uneven corporate management. Both say 2015 is the start of something better, and this week Chevy and Alfa laid out ambitious plans and showcased new cars that they hope will make them more relevant this year, and in the coming years. Each brand sits at its own crossroads, and their paths forward are as different as the Chevy Cruze and the Alfa Romeo Giulia. Chevy is still a sales beast, as evidenced by its volume of 4.8 million vehicles sold around the world last year. Chevy executives are fond of saying one of their cars is sold every seven seconds, which illustrates the strength and reach of a car brand that is the fourth largest in the world. "Make no mistake about it, we are a brand for the people," said General Motors North America president Alan Batey. But he wants consumers to want to buy a Chevy for its design and technology, not simply because it's affordable. That starts with all Chevys now featuring a distinctive a family look, with sporty cues from the Corvette or strong lines that riff on the Silverado pickup. "We want people to fall in lust with our cars," said Mike Pevovar, executive design director for Chevy passenger cars. "That initial emotional attraction has to be right on the exterior, and that's where form comes into play." Chevy is also loading up its cars, like the freshly unveiled 2016 Chevy Cruze, with technology to appeal to a younger crowd that prizes connectivity. The Cruze will offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with its MyLink infotainment system, and OnStar with 4G LTE and wifi. Seeking out younger buyers is also sound business practice: Millennials now outnumber Baby Boomers as the largest single age group in the United States. Younger buyers also can improve a brand's image, which is another area where Chevy would like to improve. Chevy ranks 82nd on Interbrand's Best Global Brand's list, behind 11 other automakers. Apple is No. 1. "We need our own variation of the Genius Bar," Batey said. 2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia View 3 Photos Meanwhile, Alfa is in different shape.

Carfection looks for the ultimate pocket rocket

Fri, Mar 18 2016

If there's one thing we love, it's a good showdown. Especially when it's on video, done by some Englishmen, and involving some manner of performance machinery. Like this latest clip, for example, from Carfection. The team formerly known as Xcar have assembled three very compelling supermini hot hatches: two we can get on our side of the pond, and one we can't. One American, one Frenchman, and one Brit. One cheap, one expensive, and one somewhere in between. They all pack turbo fours, of course, but placed in entirely different packages. There's the evergreen favorite Ford Fiesta ST, the Renault Clio RS 220 Trophy that should have the rest licked, and the retro rocket that is the Mini JCW. And there's only one way to find out which is the best. It's a tough contest, to be sure, but lest you think it all comes down to specifications or which one's the newest, you'll want to think again. Because when it comes to hot hatches, all the electronic gizmos and power boosts in the world can't show up a perfectly dialed-in chassis that lets you hug the curves and feel like you're going a lot faster than you actually are. But don't take our word for it – see what our British friends have to say about it in the Queen's English in the seventeen-minute clip above. Related Video:
