1967 Ford Galaxie Fastback Survivor! on 2040-cars
Clifton Park, New York, United States
For sale is a 1967 Ford Galaxie. Original car with 118kmi. I purchased the car from the original owner family. Exterior has original paint on most of the car. Some of the lower sections have been painted many years ago, and some work was done on the quarters, again many years ago. This car is very solid, but the work on the quarters needs to be redone properly. Reproduction quarter panels for this car are around $300 for the pair. The floors are clean and solid. I intended on fixing the quarters and blending the paint to match the original paint, but of course you could refresh the paint entirely in any color you choose! The factory paint is oxidized, but should shine nicely with a little work. I wet sanded a small area on the trunk and found it will polish up well. The interior is in great condition. Last year I completely overhauled the brakes on all four corners. I had new drums, hardware kits, wheel cylinders, and shoes professionally installed. I went with original parts instead of adding disc brakes because the car is completely original. The brakes work excellent! The rims are late model Mustang GT. The car is an automatic with a 289ci V8. I added a Pertronix III electronic ignition and flame thrower coil, as well as 8mm wires. Included is the original FoMoCo stamped radiator that has a small damage to a cooling fin that leaked a little bit, so I removed it to have is brazed and put a replacement radiator in there for now. I also bought the correct Ford stamped radiator hoses for the reinstall of the proper radiator. Also included is a set of wheel well trims to replace the one that is dented, and a rear deck lid trim to replace the one on the car. There was some work done on the frame long ago. There is a small area at the rear rail that needs a bit of attention. It runs great and the car drives very nicely! It's registered and on the road. I drove it almost daily all last summer when the weather was nice, and this year I just haven't had the time to enjoy it as much as I would like to so I am offering it for sale. It is reliable and cruises down the highway at 75mph with no problems. I believe this car could be driven across the country. I want the new owner to be happy with their purchase. Please ask any questions before purchase. I encourage you to come see and drive the car. I am open to offers. I might also consider a Volvo, S60, v70, v70xc, or xc90 with the 5 cyl Please ask any and all questions prior to bidding. Please come and see/drive the car to verify anything you are concerned about. This car is being sold as-is, where is, without warranty or returns. $500 non-refundable deposit is due upon selecting to 'buy it now'. The remainder is due in cash at pickup. The car must be picked up within 7 days of the auctions close. If for any reason you do not complete the transaction you forfeit the $500 deposit as a processing fee. I am willing to work with you for pickup if you need more time, but this must be arranged prior to purchase commitment. |

BMW to follow Honda back into F1?
Mon, 14 Apr 2014The economic downturn wrought devastating effects on motor racing. Formula One alone lost half its engine suppliers when Honda left at the end of the 2008 season, and both BMW and Toyota followed at the end of 2009. But things are looking up again. Cosworth may have dropped out this season, reducing the engine suppliers to three: Ferrari, Renault and Mercedes, the latter of which admits that it may have left had the engine formula not changed. But Mercedes has stayed and is dominating the championship. Honda is coming back next season. And word around the paddock is it may not be the only one.
According to Giancarlo Minardi - founder of the team now known as Scuderia Toro Rosso - BMW engineers have been conspicuously spotted lately at F1 test sessions and grands prix, lending to speculation that the new engine regulations may entice the Bavarian automaker back into the series. According to Minardi, BMW's marketing division is pushing for the automaker's return to F1, with the board slated to make a decision in May. BMW would be more likely to consider an engine-supply deal rather than taking a team over like it had with Sauber, but with which team or teams it might collaborate remains a big question mark at this point.
As if that's not enough, Ford is said to be considering taking over Cosworth's aborted V6 turbo engine program to take both outfits back into the sport as well. Cosworth supplied F1 engines under the Ford banner for years, but returned under its own name for four seasons from 2010 through 2013 before shuttering its program to develop an engine to meet the new regulations adopted this season.
Ford opens the doors on its Swedish rally skunkworks
Fri, 19 Sep 2014It's always amazing to see how different kinds of racecars are made. Formula One racers are often constructed in modern architectural marvels that hint at some of the cutting-edge technology going into the racing. Conversely, rallying is all about sliding around on a varied course as fast as possible, but it often leaves a vehicle caked in mud. So it makes some sense Olsbergs MSE, or simply (OMSE) rally car shop in Nynashamn, Sweden, shows technological sophistication in a more down-to-earth setting. It builds Ford Fiesta ST racers for Global Rallycross there, and this new video gives viewers a tour through the work.
Former rally driver Andreas Eriksson runs OMSE. These days instead of racing, he and the company's 46 employees are building Ford racers from scratch. A ton of work goes into constructing each one, and according to Eriksson, it takes 400 hours to complete each body. At times, things are so busy that some of the technicians live in the shop in apartments that are on premises. There's even a restaurant to keep them fed. Sadly the dyno room is empty during this visit, though.
By the time OMSE is done, a rallycross car might resemble a Fiesta ST on the outside, but as you see in the video, it's a completely different beast underneath. Check out the work it takes to build one of them, and scroll down to read more about it in the official release.

Audi plans to give its electric vehicles looks that differentiate them from the rest of the lineup. "In early 2018, we will launch a battery-powered sports activity vehicle in the large premium segment with a range of more than 500 kilometers," says Audi's head of development, Ulrich Hackenberg. "It will have a new, very attractive design, which we are developing especially for the E-Tron range and for battery-electric vehicles." According to analysts, part of the reason the Toyota Prius was so successful was because it was easy to distinguish from other Toyota models with conventional powertrains. James Lawler used mostly scraps to build the tiny house – complete with tin roof, chimney, and stained glass window – for just $150 Australian. It took him about a week to finish. Lawler made use of his creation at the Meredith Music Festival so he didn't have to sleep in a tent. He was, however, fined by police for driving the makeshift motorhome.
