THIS IS AN AMAZING 1967 FORD GALAXIE 500.  IT HAS BEEN REDONE TO A LARGE EXTENT AND NEEDS ONLY SMALL THINGS TO MAKE IT A BEAUTIFUL CRUISE IN CAR.  IT HAS BEEN REPAINTED AND TWO NICKLE SIZED HOLES IN THE REAR QUARTERS HAVE BEEN LEADED IN AND FIXED THE RIGHT WAY, OTHER THAN THAT I KNOW OF NO BONDO IN THE CAR.  IT HAS ALL OF THE TRIM AND JUST NEEDS THE SIDE TRIM PUT BACK ON, I HAVE IT ALL AND MANY EXTRAS IF YOU EVER NEED THEM FOR THE LOWER TRIM PARTS.  IT WILL HAVE A NEW SUMMIT RACING STARTER IN IT BY THE TIME THE AUCTION IS OVER. COMES WITH EXTRA TRANSMISSION COOLER LINES, THE EXTRA TRIM I TALKED ABOUT, AN EXTRA DASH PAD TO MAKE IT LOOK NEW AS WELL AS ONE ALREADY IN THE CAR, EXTRA REAR INTERIOR PANELS IN WHITE, THE FRONT DOOR CARDS ARE WHITE NOW AND ARE THE ONLY THING ON THE INTERIOR THAT DOESN'T MATCH. ALSO WILL COME WITH AN ENTIRE FRONT END POLYURETHANE BUSHING KIT THAT WILL MAKE IT HANDLE MUCH BETTER. MANY MISC. HOSES FASTENERS AND CLIPS AS WELL AS A 1967 FORD AND MERCURY SERVICE MANUAL AND SOME OTHER LITTLE THINGS I CANT REMEMBER RIGHT NOW.  THE ENGINE HAS BEEN REDRESSED WITH ALL NEW ACCESSORIES INCLUDING A NEW ALTERNATOR, WATER PUMP POWER STEERING PUMP STARTER SOLENOID, ALL NEW OR POWDERCOATED BRACKETS AND BELTS AND HOSES. NEW DISTRIBUTOR, HARMONIC BALANCER, PLUGS WIRES AIR FILTER AND BATTERY ALL IN THE LAST YEAR. BASICALLY THE ENGINE BLOCK, INTERNALS, INTAKE AND CARB ARE ORIGINAL, HOWEVER THE INTAKE IS NOT THE ORIGINAL GALAXIE INTAKE IT IS A FORD INTAKE BUT WE BELIEVE IT TO BE FROM A HIGHER PERFORMANCE FORD MODEL 289.  THE CARB HAS BEEN DECODED AS AN AUTOLITE 4 BARREL AND ALL THIS MAKES THIS THING FLY.  IT DOES HAVE STANDARD DRUM BRAKES THAT WORK GREAT BUT THEY ARE NOT POWERED OR DISK.  NEW VALVE COVERS MAKE THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT LOOK FANTASTIC TOO.  THE STEERING COLUMN IS RED SINCE THE ORIGINAL COLOR OF THE INTERIOR WAS RED. OW ITS WHITE ON BLACK AND OTHER THAN THE ROOF LINER AND STEERING COLUMN ITS ALL BLACK.  NEW L.E.D BRAKE AND RUNNING LIGHTS WERE INSTALLED TO MAKE THEM BRIGHTER AT NIGHT.  THE 15' CRAGARS AND BF GOODRICH 225/70/15 ARE NEW WITH ONLY 33 MILES ON THEM. THE INTERIOR WAS SOUNDPROOFED WHEN THE NEW CARPET WENT IN AND IS MUCH QUIETER THA ORIGINAL.  IT HAS A PIONEER STEREO NEW 6X9 REAR SPEAKERS NEW 4 INCH FRONT SPEAKERS AND AN AMP AND SUB WIRED INTO THE TRUNK. SEEMS TO CUT OUT SOMETIMES BUT SOUNDS AWESOME FOR A CRUISE IN OR A DAY OUT.  MY FIRST CAR WAS A 1967 GALAXY 500 AND I WAS HIT BY A DRUNK DRIVER, IT WAS FIXED BUT WAS NEVER THE SAME AND MY DAD SOLD IT IN 1988. I ALWAYS WANTED ANOTHER ONE AND THEN IN 2011 MY DAD GOT CANCER.  I SOLD MY VICTORY MOTORCYCLE AND FOUND THIS ONE AND BOUGHT IT FOR HIM TO HAVE SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING ON AFTER HIS SURGERY.  HE DID ALL THE WORK AND RECOVERED AND SINCE THEN WE HAVE HAD A BLAST WORKING ON IT JUST FATHER AND SON. HOWEVER AT 43, I JUST FOUND OUT I AM HAVING A SECOND CHILD AND AM FORCED TO SELL THIS TO HELP PAY FOR A MINI VAN.  YIKES I KNOW, BUT IT SERVED ITS PURPOSE AND ITS TIME TO GO TO SOMEONE WHO HAS TIME TO SHOW IT OFF.  MY INSURANCE COMPANY, HAGARTY ASKED I INSURE IT FOR 11,200.00 LAST YEAR BUT I KNOW I WONT GET THAT MUCH RESERVE IS JUST TO PROTECT THE MONEY THAT WE HAVE IN THE CAR AND I THINK IS VERY FAIR.  I CAN BE REACHED AT THREE THREE OH THREE FIVE THREE ZERO ONE FOUR NINE AND WILL BE HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS THAT YOU MAY HAVE BEFORE BIDDING ON THIS GREAT CAR. IF I THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE I'LL TRY AND ADD IT. THANKS AND GOOD LUCK BIDDING. OH AND ONE MORE THING IN THE PICTURES YOU WILL NOTICE A BLACK STRIPE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE CAR, ITS A DECAL NOT PAINT, DAD WANTED TO SEE WHAT IT WOULD LOOK LIKE WITHOUT THE TRIM SO WE HAD A COMPLETE DECAL SET CUT THAT WILL ALSO GO WITH THE CAR.

Weekly Recap: Ford GT inspires guitar, foosball table, sailboat

Sat, Apr 18 2015

Ford design vice president Moray Callum had just wrapped up a briefing on the interior of the Ford GT last month, but something seemed out of place. He grinned and pointed behind him, "You might be wondering why I have a boat behind me," he said mischievously. It was there because Ford set its designers on a mission to stretch and showcase their talents: design non-automotive objects inspired by the interior of the GT supercar. Callum received quite a response, too. His team produced a guitar, a foosball table (yeah bro!), a racing sailboat, a Wi-Fi speaker and some furniture. As the veteran design chief explained, "It's a really great exercise both to highlight our designers' talents, but also to really see how our design philosophy can work and how you can use it and get a common response back from a worldwide design team." Guitar View 25 Photos The objects have been on display this week at the Salone del Mobile furniture and fashion design fair in Milan, Italy, where Ford has had a presence for three years. There's also a light exhibition that apparently was inspired by the GT, as well. While this might seem a little far-fetched for the automaker, Ford said exhibitions like the Salone del Mobile give its designers another way to be creative and ultimately produce striking interior style. Ford wants this to be a differentiator, as research shows consumers are placing emphasis on the layout and features inside when they're making a decision about buying a new car. It's a little light hearted – but it's also potentially big business. Other News & Notes Cadillac CT6 platform could be used for Buick General Motors product chief Mark Reuss said the Cadillac CT6 platform could be used for a large Buick, though "not yet," Automotive News reported. The underpinnings can accommodate rear-wheel or all-wheel drive and would give Buick the large flagship it lacks. The report jibes with comments Reuss made at a roundtable with Autoblog and other reporters at the New York Auto Show. When asked if Buick had space for a large car on the CT6 chassis, he replied, "Yeah, I think it does. Yeah, I think we do." Buick has revamped its lineup in recent years with attractive crossovers and small and midsize sedans, but hasn't added the proverbial flagship that's yearned for by enthusiasts. Buick surprised industry observers with the stylish Avenir concept at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year that raised the possibility of a halo sedan.

Michigan museum offers Model T driving classes

Sun, 29 Dec 2013

Halfway between Detroit and Chicago, there is a car museum that gives visitors a unique level of interaction with antique cars. The Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners, MI has a driver's training class to teach people of any age to learn how to drive a Ford Model T.
From the crank starter to the column-mounted throttle control, this driving school teaches people all there is to know about driving and operating a Model T. Each class lasts about two and a half hours and is only open to 18 students. There are ten sessions planned for 2014 - twice a day on May 3, June 22, July 22, August 23 and September 14. The class costs $95 (or $85 for members), and it also includes a tour of the museum's automobile collection.
In addition to this driving school, the museum has plenty of exhibits on the property, and it's open all but three days per year (Easter, Christmas and New Year's Day) with free admission for school field trips and active military. Be sure to check out the Gilmore Car Museum's website or visit them on Facebook for more info.
