1966 Ford Galaxie Base 6.4l on 2040-cars

Year:1966 Mileage:87108 Color: are on both rear wheel arches
Location:

Cullowhee, North Carolina, United States

Up for sell is a running 2 door Galaxie with a 390, C6, and 9 inch rear with 3:00 gearing with 87,108 miles on the clock that I do believe to be fairly accurate. This was to be a project car, but I need the money to pay for school, more then I need the car right now.

The engine has a 4 barrel Edelbrock carb and an aluminum intake. I do not know the maker of the intake or the size of the carb. I cannot prove it but I am pretty sure the car had a 2 barrel carb from the factory.  The interior is worn, but the person I bought it from placed new carpet in it as well as floor mats. I believe if it was cleaned it would look great. The front seats have tears in it, mostly on the driver’s seat. I think most; if not all of the large trip pieces are with the car. They are in pretty good shape accept for the wheel arch molding witch was slightly bent and dinged up when the previous owner removed them. The original wheel covers are included. There are some small trim pieces missing.

The car started life as a raven black car with a Wimbledon white top. Sometime later the top was painted black also. The only major rust issues on the exterior are on both rear wheel arches. Both have holes in them that have been patched by the previous owner with body filler. He had also started sanding the car to paint it when he sold it to me. The battery box is also a rust issue like most old vehicles. The radiator support has some holes that would need to be patched. The bottom of the trunk has rust as well as the lid where the latch is. The bumpers are also rusted and would need to be rechromed.

The car has four wheel manual drum brakes. The person I bought it from told me that he had just had them redone so they should be pretty new. The brake pedal in the car says power disk brake, so I do not know what is original. The car has power steering and A/C. The A/C compressor and a bracket where in a box in the trunk, when I got the car. I do not think it is a factory air car, but was added on later. There is also a chip in the windshield.

The car does run and can be driven onto a trailer. The car has aluminum wheels and the tires on it are in good shape. The lights all work as far as I can tell. Headlights, high beams, turn, brake, and the light inside the trunk works. I am not sure the fuel gauge works. The speedometer does move, but I have not driven it very far to tell how accurate it is, since it does not have a tag. The padded dash is torn up and a newer cover is placed over it that matches the carpet and the radio does not work.

Buyer is responsible for pick up, but can assist in loading. Cash or cashier check only. Pick up must be within 3 days of close of auction.

Ford shows off V8-powered Ranger headed to Dakar Rally

Tue, 30 Jul 2013

Avert your eyes now if you're jealous that the global version of the Ford Ranger is not offered in the US. Ford's midsize pickup is being tuned up to take on the 2014 Dakar Rally, and the result is a truck that is probably even cooler than any F-150 SVT Raptor we've ever seen in the States. Ford is actually building two versions of the truck for Dakar, which will run from January 5 through January 18, covering more than 5,000 miles from Argentina to Chile.
Starting with a fully composite body and a 5.0-liter V8 plucked from a Mustang, nearly every aspect of the trucks have been purpose built to take on the grueling race. This includes things like the six-speed sequential gearbox, liquid-cooled rear brakes and the 132-gallon fuel tank. As proof that Dakar is more about endurance than speed, the engines used in these race trucks will be limited to around 350 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, and will max out at a top speed of just 105 miles per hour. Scroll down for Ford's official press release offering more information about the trucks and teams being prepped for Dakar.

Ford announces first non-pursuit-rated police car ever

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

Ford announced its first non-pursuit-rated Police Interceptor ever, based on the Taurus, which employs the smaller 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine in place of similar pursuit-rated Police Interceptors powered by naturally aspirated 3.5-liter and 3.7-liter V6s and the top-spec 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. Officially called the Special Service Police sedan, the car was commissioned at the request of law-enforcement agencies that desire a more fuel-efficient vehicle for detectives, administrators and campus police, who don't necessarily need pursuit-rated vehicles.
The 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine produces 240 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque, but more importantly, it allows the SSP sedan to achieve somewhere in the neighborhood of 22 miles per gallon city and 32 mpg highway, which are the civilian 2.0-liter Taurus' official EPA ratings. Ford estimates that the SSP sedan will get 20 mpg city, 30 mpg highway and 23 mpg combined, with the help of Active Grille Shutters that open to allow more cooling air through to the radiator, or close to optimize aerodynamics and fuel economy. Those numbers compare favorably to the discontinued Crown Victoria-based Interceptor's 14 mpg city and 21 mpg highway and the newer Taurus-based cars equipped with V6s, the most fuel efficient of which gets 18 mpg city and 26 mpg highway.
If it was driven 90,000 miles over the course of three years, a 2.0-liter SSP sedan would save law enforcement agencies $5,042.92 versus the Crown Vic, Ford estimates. The EPA is expected to post official fuel-economy numbers for the SSP sedan in December. Until then, read the press release below for more information.

Ford invests $682 million in Edge-producing Canadian facility

Sun, 22 Sep 2013

Ford announced that it's investing $682 million in its Oakville assembly plant in Ontario, Canada, to make it a global manufacturing plant, which the automaker also says secures 2,800 jobs there. Including this injection of cash, Ford has invested over $2 billion in Canada in the last decade, starting with nearly $1 billion for Oakville in 2004, and over $570 million for its Essex Engine Plant in 2010.
The move to make Oakville a global manufacturer of Ford vehicles means, "If consumers suddenly shift their buying habits, we can seamlessly change our production mix without having to idle a plant," says Joe Hinrichs, Ford's president of the Americas.
Ford says that the latest investment will help it meet North American demand for the Oakville-produced Edge crossover, which is on track this year to beat 2007's US sales record of 130,000 Edges. The Ford Flex and Lincoln MKX and MKT are also manufactured at the plant.
