1966 Ford Galaxie 500 Fastback - One Owner Car on 2040-cars
Bristol, Tennessee, United States
I am selling a 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 Fastback. It is a one owner,
survivor car, and I have the original title. I'll attempt to tell
everything I know about it, but I may miss something, or you may have
further questions, so I encourage you to contact me with any concerns
before you bid. Shipping of the car is the sole responsibility of the
purchaser, but I will help in any way I can. I will only sell/ship this
car within the Continental United States. I require a $100.00 (U.S.) via
PayPal within an hour of the auction closing . The remainder can be paid via cash or certified check prior
to, or at time of pick up.
Original specs of the car: 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 Fastback VIN: 6U66X778598 VIN Decoded: 6 - 1966 model year, U - Louisville, KY production facility, 66 - Galaxie 500 Fastback, X - 352 C.I.D. with single 4 bbl, 178598 - Serial Number Body Tag Information: Body Code 63B - 2 Door Hardtop, Color Code 8A - Sunlight Yellow with Black Vinyl Top, Trim Code 66 (Interior), Black, Date Code (Production) 21E - May 21, 1966, DSO (District Sales Office) 27 - Cincinnati, OH (after 1-4-1966), Axle Code 1 - 3.00:1 Open, Transmission Code 7 - Cruise-O-Matic FX This car is not in its original configuration. It has a 289 C.I.D, single 2 bbl engine and a C6 transmission from a 1966 Ford Ranchero. The original owner, who passed away, did this several years ago. He also replaced the seats with leather, power seats from a 1967 Lincoln Continental and a custom made dash pad of black vinyl and red carpet. The seats actually look better than the factory seats, and fit well, but the dash pad has to go. He put in inexpensive carpet that should be replaced with something of better quality with a sound deadener. The wheels he put on it are from a 1972 Lincoln Mark IV. They also look very good on the car. I am guessing he did all of this some time in the 1980's. The seats will need to be hooked up to power. The windshield wiper motor is either not connected, or bad. The original radio is in the dash, and does power up, but the speakers are unhooked. The dash lights do not work, and I don't know if it's just bulbs or wiring. The interior lights are in the car, but not hooked up. The headlights and running lights all work, except the high beams. It needs a new floor switch. The turn signals, brake lights, and reverse lights all work. The horn works, too. The windows all roll up and down. The driver door operates fine, but something is loose in the passenger door and it will only open from the inside currently. Mechanically the car is in good shape. It has new plugs, wires, rotor button, distributor cap, battery, radiator, upper and lower radiator hoses, front brake shoes, inner and outer wheel bearings and seals on the front, and a new drum and wheel cylinder on the front left. The front left rubber brake line broke when I put the cylinder in, but I have a new hose for each side ready to be installed. I rebuilt the Motorcraft 2150 2 bbl carb and installed a manual choke, but it could stand a good tuning. I also drained, flushed, and replaced the transmission filter. Currently the gas tank is unhooked. It is in good shape, but needs to be dropped, cleaned and hooked back up. Right now the car runs off a one gallon can under the hood. Body wise, the car is straight. The floor pans are solid. The trunk has some surface rust and pitting. There is one hole in it that is about the size of a fist in it. The worst part of the exterior is the roof. The vinyl top was removed and it has glue remnants, surface rust and some pitting. If you go back to a vinyl top it will just need some sanding. If you want to paint it you will need to do a lot of sanding and filling. The fenders are good. The hood has some rust behind the trim on the front drip edge, which is hard to see. The doors have some rust on the bottoms. The quarter panels have some hasty, small bondo patches behind the tires. All the glass is good, but the windshield was taken off to remove the vinyl top, and the silicone sealer used to reinstall is breaking down. It will need to be replaced. I have some small trim pieces, but it's mostly what you see is what you get. That's everything I can think of. This car is about a 6 on a scale of 1-10. If you want a old car to completely restore to showroom condition, you may want to keep looking. You would have more in this one than you could ever get back out of it. If you want a car that you can spend a few thousand and a few weekends on, and then take it to the cruise in on Friday nights, then this one is what you want. Either way, thanks for looking, and ask questions if you have them. |

Edge will be the first Ford-badged product to come standard with EcoBoost power.
Ford officially unveiled the all-new, third-generation Edge today at its Dearborn home, announcing that the latest version of the popular crossover will ride on the same CD4 architecture that underpins the Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ. The Edge will also be the first Ford-badged product to come standard with EcoBoost power.
Ford tops mid-year ranking of brands in the US
Thu, 18 Jul 2013YouGov's mid-year Brand Index rankings of America's best perceived brands has been released, and Ford has found its way to the top. The Dearborn, Michigan based manufacturer beat out online shopping giant Amazon, The History Channel, and home improvement superstore Lowe's, to take the top spot.
Ford jumped from sixth overall in 2012 to first for 2013, but those that have been watching these rankings shouldn't be hugely surprised. Ford was rated the best perceived automotive manufacturer by the same organization last year. The Blue Oval's success on the overall brand rankings is made all the more impressive by the complete lack of other automakers on the list.
YouGov (that is, survey respondents) cited Ford's first quarter of 2013 business, which saw an increase in market share and the best earnings recorded in over 10 years. Successfully launching the Focus and Fusion (pictured) and keeping them fresh in the minds of consumers has also contributed to Ford's best overall score.
A 1985 Ford Escort for $915,000? If it was owned by Princess Diana
Sun, Sep 3 2023What makes a used car worth more than the car itself? If it was owned by John Lennon. Or Muhammad Ali. Michael Schumacher, perhaps, or Stirling Moss. This year’s edition from the Hagerty organization of its “Power List” makes for amusing reading even if youÂ’re not on it. But you can make believe that you are. Essentially, the list, which was launched only last year, tracks the impact of celebrity ownership of a vehicle on its value, as measured by its worth at auction. Nearly 400 sales of celebrity cars and bikes have been analyzed from around the world by Hagerty using market data and “expert” analytics. Hagerty is aware, certainly, that famous folks — from royalty, sports, movies and music — grab gobs of attention from ordinary people. ThatÂ’s why the 2023 Power List comprises these categories: Art Cars, Racing Drivers, Movies and TV, Musicians, Royalty, Screen Stars, Sporting Icons. But you don't have to be a rock star or a F1 pilot to get listed: Princess Diana, besides an Escort Turbo RS that she owned between 1985 and 1988, numbered a convertible 1994 Audi 80 Cabriolet and a Jaguar XJS Cabriolet among her rides. HereÂ’s a look at some of the more notable entries: Racing driver category: In pole position was an unlikely titleholder, a 1976 Ford Bronco. This was the car bought new by legendary Canadian Formula 1 driver Gilles Villeneuve and untouched since his death; it sold at the Aguttes auction in Paris last December for $148,000, a huge 210% increase over the $47,800 that Hagerty would value a regular example in the same condition. Just a note: The list doesnÂ’t include race cars, only vehicles kept privately by the drivers. Musicians: A 1974 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow had been Freddie MercuryÂ’s personal chauffeur-driven transport from 1979 until his death in 1991. Without celebrity ownership, Hagerty would value the Silver Shadow at a lowly $9,500, a car that would take a lot of time, effort and money to restore properly. But add in MercuryÂ’s aura and bids ended at $362,500. “ItÂ’s no surprise that MercuryÂ’s car dominated our Musicians list on the 2023 Hagerty Power List,” the company said. Movies and TV: For those readers now emerging from hibernation since 1968, the news is that the historic Highland Green Mustang from “Bullitt” remains at the top of the Power List for the second year running.
