“Mr. BIG RED 7-Litre”

In the world of Collector cars there is nothing much better than an amazing low mile “Survivor” car that has been restored to near perfection.  That is exactly what we have here with his gorgeous Red 7-Liter Galaxie 500.  In 2005 this red gem went through a comprehensive one year plus restoration at a high-end shop in Huntington Beach, CA.  There are well over $50K in receipts and the interior (original) was not even touched.  The interior is one of the most gorgeous originals we have ever seen on any car from this era.

Now some would say, why did a 29K mile car need such an extensive restoration.  That’s the million dollar question because one can easily ascertain this nearly virgin bodied, all original metal car is near perfection in every way.  The panel and trim fit is absolutely dead nuts from one end to the other.

This car belonged to one family during it’s entire ownership. When the nephew of the original owner got the car he decided to make it the nicest 7-Litre Convertible on the Planet Earth.  I think he accomplished his dream as this represents one of the finest restorations we have ever seen on one of these cars or most any muscle car from this era.

We cannot positively verify that the car has 29K original miles, but does it really matter since the car was completely rebuilt from one end to the other both mechanically and exterior cosmetics.

The Interior looks to be almost COMPLETELY ORIGINAL and in FABULOUS CONDITION.  This is the part of the vehicle that verifies to us that the car has 29K miles on the clock. Look at the wonderful original condition of the seats, the dash, the gauges, the carpet.  The interior does not even look like it has 10K miles on it.

Now because the interior is original and 48 years old there are just a few minor areas that we would like to point out. The door armrest plastic base chrome has lost it’s luster and the handles, ashtry lids and other white metal pieces have very minor pitting, simply from age.  However, they look WAY better than cheap replacement interior parts from China that would be pitted in 30 minutes after installation.  BTW, the original Black Vinyl Top Boot is in very good condition and shows nicely with the Concour Paint.

The Body and Paint on this 7-Litre is simply a #1 Condition. The body panels are laser straight with matching body gaps at the doors, hood and truck.  The paint is flat from the highest-quality paint craftsman and paint finishers. The Chrome is simply brand new show quality.  The trim and badging is all in matching consistent finish to the rest of the car.

The car drives like a dream.  It literally floats down the road with magnificent pull from the massive 7-litre motor.  The car tracks down the freeway like a brand new Lexus. Every mechanical component of this fine example was either replaced or rebuild to brand new condition.  There is nothing that does not work on this vehicle that we know of.  The car is sporting a brand new set of Magnum 500 Wheels and a brand new set of radial tires.

Mr. Big Red has less than 1000 miles on the clock since it was restored in 2006.

If you are looking for a car to show at the highest levels or a car to drive and enjoy for the next 25 years, this is it.  No stone was left unturned in this eye-catching mid-60’s muscle car.

There are a couple of million Mustangs and Camaros out there from this era and only 11073 of these 7-Litres were every made.  This is the type of unique and interesting cars to be collecting as the investment car world is focusing on low production examples for rarity and exclusivity.  This car is turnkey and this outstanding example is as good as it gets.

The car is available for viewing at Blue Chip Motorcars in San Juan Capistrano, CA

Ford cuts 950 Russian jobs on weak demand

Thu, 03 Apr 2014

The Russian auto market, in decline for the past year and further hit by the declining value of the ruble and recent sanctions over its annexation of Crimea, has forced Ford to cut jobs and shifts at two of its joint venture plants there. Around 700 of the 2,700 total workers who build the Russian-market Focus and Mondeo will be cut at the plant in Vsevolozhsk, near St. Petersburg as it drops to a single production shift. A second plant about 700 miles away in Yelabuga, in the Tartarstan region, will lose 250 workers. That plant builds seven vehicles, including the Explorer, Kuga and Edge.
The Moscow Times says Ford has been especially hit by the market decline, the overall market losing 5.5 percent in 2013 compared to the year before, but Ford sales dropping 18 percent in 2013 year-on-year. This year isn't going any better, with The Blue Oval posting a 21-percent decline through the first two months of 2014. That's why, though the Yelabuga plant builds the CUVs that customers are moving into, even it is facing cuts.
The job cuts in Vsevolozhsk come on top four-week plant shutdown planned so that the paint and body shops can go to one shift. In a statement, the company said, "Ford Sollers remains absolutely committed to the Russian market and is confident it has the right product plan, people and assets to deliver long-term profitable growth."

2018 Ford Expedition spied looking stylish

Tue, Sep 6 2016

The Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator got a cool reception for their 2015 warmed-over redesign. But with big, high-riding vehicles once again in vogue, Ford is pushing ahead with a ground-up redesign of its biggest SUVs. Based on these spy shots, the Expedition will continue to serve as the Navigator's more affordable twin. Yes, that's a bold prediction, considering we still haven't spotted Lincoln testing the new Navigator, but study the greenhouses on this Expedition prototype and the Navigator Concept from New York – from the arrow-straight belt line to the extra-long rear window to the aggressively raked windshield, this Expedition's overall profile is broadly similar to what Lincoln previewed earlier this year. While our spies claim the new Expedition will look to the F-150 for design inspiration, we see a departure from past Expedition tradition. Unlike the supposed Expedition spy shots we showed you nearly a year ago – which was nothing more than an SUV with an F-150's nose grafted on, this prototype's front-end styling looks softer and more aerodynamic, with a smaller grille and headlights, almost like an Escape or Edge. This kind of change would explain the additional front-end camouflage. In back, our spies rightly point out that Ford fitted a faux rear end to disguise the rear window's rake – expect the real thing to feature the angled rear window previewed on the Navigator Concept. Look at the last image in the gallery for a better idea of how the Expedition's rear window will actually look. We can't say a lot about the taillights, because of the camo, but non-LED taillights are present. We'd expect Ford to offer LEDs on higher trim levels. While the F-150's styling might not make the transition to the Expedition, its powertrains and emphasis on lightweight aluminum will. Our spies report the biggest SUV will ride on a new T3 platform and feature an aluminum body, with the F-150's 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. Expect a ten-speed automatic transmission and start/stop tech for sure, while the smaller 2.7-liter, twin-turbo V6 could slot in as the Expedition's base engine – we're less sure on that one. And we're even more uncertain of the rumors of an Expedition Hybrid. Our spies report it could mate a 3.5-liter V6 with an electric motor(s) and battery packs for a more economical full-size SUV. Expect to see the 2018 Expedition debut in January, at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show.

Mustang pinball game will feature art by Ford GT designer

Fri, 13 Dec 2013

To celebrate 50 years of Mustang, Ford and Stern Pinball are collaborating on a new pinball machine that will feature the muscle car in all its glory, Polygon reports. Even better, Camilo Pardo, the guy who designed the Ford GT, will provide art for the table; Tanner Foust, Top Gear USA host and professional driver, will handle narrating duties; and a Sony Music soundtrack spanning five decades will provide the tunes.
"The Mustang is one of the most iconic, American cars ever made... What better way to celebrate 50 years of Mustang than with the launch of the Ford Mustang pinball game?" says Stern Pinball CEO Gary Stern.
Watch the promotional trailer for the upcoming Mustang pinball machine below, which will have to hold you over until pricing and availability are announced in early 2014.
