1965 Ford Galaxie 500 with a 390 and a convertible. The car is garage kept with car cover (cover included in sale.) The vehicle is in great condition and is mostly stock minus the rims (I have original hubcaps.) The car has power steering. The engine compartment is extremely clean. Recently, the car was tuned up, electric ignition added and the carburetor was rebuilt. The entire exhaust/muffler system was recently replaced. I also just replaced the back shocks with air shocks. The car runs smooth and drives great. The car has a newer radio in the glove box and 4 Infiniti speakers that are all temporarily installed so none of the original parts of the car were ruined. I also have many of the original parts of the vehicle (wheel skirts, trim, radio etc.) The car was painted by the previous owner approximately 5 years ago. Ford cleans up painting process with cameras
Thu, 22 Aug 2013Knowing how the bacon gets made rarely entices us and, in the same vein, the same usually goes for knowing about how new cars get painted. But in both instances, however, quality - or a lack thereof - is instantly obvious. In terms of the latter, Ford is showing off its new paint quality process with 3D Dirt Detection Technology to find imperfections in vehicle paint more easily and more quickly.
This process - being performed on the F-150 SVT Raptor above - uses 16 computer-controlled cameras to create a three-dimensional model (inset) of the vehicle to detect flaws in the paint including dirt particles, which can then be buffed out manually. Ford says this new technology cuts down on time spent looking for paint flaws and gives workers more time to correct those that are discovered.
Currently, Ford only uses its 3D Dirt Detection Technology system at three factories (the Dearborn, MI facility, along with those in Louisville, Kentucky and Valencia, Spain), but it will soon spread to five more plants in North America. Ford has released a video and press release for this innovative and unexpectedly interesting process, both of which are posted below.
Project Ugly Horse alive and kicking at Road & Track
Thu, 29 Aug 2013The hallways of the Autoblog campus are much quieter now that Zach Bowman has taken his prose, along with his welders, wrenches and hammers, over to the digital pages of Road & Track, but that doesn't mean our favorite project Mustang is gone forever. Project Ugly Horse is still coming along, and Zach has gifted us another update on his unfoxy Fox Body.
Last we saw of the Ugly Horse, Zach was strengthening up the '89 Mustang's chassis as he prepares to stuff the turbocharged, direct-injected EcoBoost engine of a Ford Focus ST under the hood.
