1965 Ford Galaxie 2DR Hardtop, 390 C.I. Big Block V8, 4 Barrel Carb, Dual Exhaust, 3 SPD Automatic.
Car runs and drives fine.

Shocks and Suspension bushings recently redone front and rear. New Drum brakes all the way around. Radiator was replaced 4 years ago. The old Interior is shot, It’s all there, but the seats need new foam and upholstery. I’ve just been cruising it around for the last couple years with blankets over them. Fun to cruise with the front and rear windows down, showing off the hard top’s lines in the nice weather. The body lines are straight but it does have some rust. The trunk floor is rusted out, but elsewhere in the trunk area is rock solid. The Left rear qtr will need some work eventually. The dual exhaust sounds great. This 2 door hard top looks good cruising. Its got a well maintained “15 ft paint job” from a repaint some years ago. Garage kept for the last 8 years.

Aluminum slotted mag wheels and good rubber all around. Mechanically sound. It starts, stops, turns and rides as it should. This is a great looking old car that can be had for less money than some crazy guys spend on a set of wheels and tires. Clear CA Title in hand. It’s a 49 year old American Car. Real Steel throughout! All lights, gauges, turn signals, etc work! It’s been maintained to regularly drive around to the local car shows and cruise ins and to go to the drive in movies with your honey. I'd like to sell to an adult (motor head or even a fledgling motor head is a plus) who will enjoy it understanding it isn’t a new Honda. It’s a fun old Ford. Low reserve, Bid, Buy, and have fun!

Some very cool decoding of it’s production code:

5N66Z100312 63B - O - 57 - 28H - 22 - 1 - 4

5 = 1965
N = Norfolk, Virginia assembly plant
66 = Ford Galaxie 500 2-door hardtop product code
Z = 390 4V V-8 engine
100312 = the 312th Ford scheduled for production at Norfolk for the 1965 model year
63B = Ford Galaxie 500 2-door hardtop body style code
O = Tropical Turquoise (Ditzler Mix Code 12852)
57 = Turquoise cloth and vinyl interior
28H = scheduled for production on August 28, 1964
22 = Charlotte, North Carolina ordering district
1 = 3.00:1 rear axle ratio
4 = Cruise-O-Matic transmission
As you can see this car was one of the first that were produced at the Norfolk Plant for '65!

a Hardtop coupe with wing windows! Wing windows are awesome! It also has the neat little pull open vents in the front kick panels that are fully functional.

I reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells locally for the reserve price. If you bid above the reserve, then game on! It will be yours if you win the auction.  I've tried to accurrately represent this car. But please ask questions if needed. Yes, its ready to drive a crusis as-is today! Just expect to throw a blanket over the seats until you get them re-done.

I can arrange to meet you or your car carrier/transport service. $1000 of the purchase price needs to be paid within 3 days of the end of auction through PAYPAL or express mailed cashier’s check. Balance to be paid in full before pick up.

If the seats were already reupholstered, this would be a $7000+car. But upholstery doesn't make it run, drive, and cruise, right? As a reminder, all lights, switches, signal etc. work. thanks to those who are calling, bidding, and asking good questions

MyFord Touch getting buttons and knobs back to counter criticisms

Mon, 17 Jun 2013

Ford deserves credit for being a front-runner in offering advanced infotainment technology with its Sync and MyFord Touch systems, but continued consumer complaints over its confusing touchscreen interface and capacitive controls has made the automaker relent. The Wall Street Journal reports that physical buttons and knobs for controlling tuning and volume will be coming back to Ford vehicles equipped with the controversial infotainment system.
The 2013 F-150 with MyFord Touch gives us a glimpse of what the new layout with buttons and knobs might look like, as Ford says a similar balance of touch screen capability and buttons/knobs are what's being planned for future models. And, while capacitive controls have no fans in the halls of Autoblog, many of Ford's models with MyFord Touch do have a large physical knob for adjusting volume with integrated buttons for tuning and advancing tracks, though most of those are models with the optional upgraded Sony Audio system. Lincoln models with MyLincoln Touch, however, feature only capacitive controls for all stereo and climate functions.
Despite receiving enough complaints to throw buttons and knobs back into the mix (a move that reminds us of BMW's iDrive trajectory, among others), Ford reports that Sync and MyFord Touch have still been sold on 79 percent of its 2013 model year vehicles, a number it claims is double the rate that Honda and Toyota are getting for their infotainment systems. Ford also states that owners who do opt for the duo of technologies are more satisfied with overall vehicle quality than those who don't have it.

Fitting Retirement: Grand Marquis last Mercury off the line

Wed, 05 Jan 2011

The signs have come down and retail production ended back in October of 2010. Now, the very last Mercury model has rolled off the assembly line. This last Mercury somewhat fittingly takes the form of a Grand Marquis reporting for fleet duty. It was built at the St. Thomas plant in Ontario, Canada, which is the same facility that continues to produce the Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car for fleet and livery duty.
St. Thomas' days are numbered, however, as the factory is slated to close on August 31. When it goes, the Panther platform is likely to follow. So long, and thanks for all the fish memories.

Ford Focus 1.0-liter Ecoboost to only get manual trans in US

Sun, 23 Feb 2014

Photos of the 2015 Ford Focus leaked earlier today, but now we're able to tell you more details of the global five-door hatchback. Bucking automaker's troubling trend of ditching manual transmissions in favor of automatics, Ford says the new 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine will come only in a six-speed manual in the US, because, well, American drivers aren't as sophisticated as our European brothers and sisters.
Ford didn't come out and say it that way, but it has found American drivers are more prone to complain about automatics in smaller-engine cars, Raj Nair, Ford's group vice president of global product development, said at a press conference last week. The recent JD Power Vehicle Dependability Study backs up Ford's claims, pointing out that drivers are complaining about rough transmission shifts, engine hesitation and lack of power, particularly in small cars. In Europe and other parts of the world, drivers seem to understand the quirks of these pint-sized engines, Nair said, so they'll have the option to buy an automatic. Ford is working on tuning its dual-clutch transmissions to make them more amenable to American driver's tastes.
Ford will show off the refreshed 2015 Focus at the Geneva Motor Show in early March. The car is due for an update, having been on sale in its current form since 2012. The automaker said it is jamming the car full of new technology - like a USB port that promises to charge your phone in half the time as a regular USB port. Features like Sync and a rear back-up camera will come standard. For a more in-depth look at the car, take a look at the full press release.
