1964 Ford Galaxie Xl Convertible Z Code 390 on 2040-cars
Hacienda Heights, California, United States
1964 Ford Galaxie 500 XL Convertible -- Z code 390 390 cruisomatic, P/S P/B Factory vintage burgundy with a tan/beige interior. The data plate numbers show that this is the original color combination. (76B – X - 84A - 24A – 74 – 1 – 4) Quite stunning actually. You see a lot of burgundy Galaxies with a black or white interior, but rarely tan. It simulates natural leather beautifully. This is an original Galaxie XL with the bucket seat interior and not some bench seat version with an interior cobbled from a hardtop. I purchased this car in 1987. When I first got it, it was a good running car that just needed some minor mechanical work and cosmetics. It has its original Z code 390 engine and transmission. Back then I repainted it, chromed the bumpers replaced the top and did some upholstery work. I drove it to shows and in parades, and then I parked it inside for 22 years. (It is amazing how fast the years go by) Now my life has changed and I should pass it along for someone else to enjoy. It was a nice straight, original, totally rust free car before I painted it. It is still shiny but sitting under a cover in the garage it has developed some chips, scratches and a ding in the fender where something fell on it. The bumpers have some defects popping through the old re-chrome but they still look nice. The seats were reupholstered in the correct pattern at some point before I got it and remain soft and comfortable. The door panels are original and have some fading and cracking. The carpet is very dirty and stained, but is not torn. The original padded dash is wonderful! It remains soft and without cracks. The top was replaced 20 years ago. It was covered for storage and has held up very well. It retains the correct glass rear window.
I recently pulled it from storage, changed the oil and fired it up. It started easily and now runs well. The power brake booster and master cylinder were bad so I put a new master and booster on it last week. It drives well but before driving it any distance I would recommend new belts, hoses and all those little maintenance things that go bad from sitting. The bias ply tires were new 27 years ago and have accumulated maybe 500 miles. The odometer shows 66,000 miles. It is tight and rattle free, but who knows how accurate that number might be. This is an honest car that remains in the condition that these cars were found and restored to 20+ years ago. It would be a fun car to enjoy as is or would be an excellent car to re-restore to modern standards. I have listed it with a realistic reserve that is on par with what people want for cobbled together Galaxie 500 hardtops.

pictures of anything just ask! If you have any other questions please ask! A $1000 non-refundable deposit within 3 days is required. The deposit or balance due will not be payable through paypal unless you wish to pay the transaction fee on sellers receiving end! The certificate of title and the vehicle will not be released until full payment has been received & cashed. I have stored it for the last 22 years and I certainly do not want to continue storing it so the car should be removed within 30 days. I will work with you to make this happen, but of course I AM NOT paying for the shipping. Storage charges of $10 a day will accumulate after that. I moved it outside of my garage (to get some room) and neither you nor I, want it to sit outside any longer than is absolutely necessary. I am being honest about offering this vehicle to you; I expect the same courtesy of having you be honest about buying it. Bids from buyers with less than 10 positive feedbacks will be summarily rejected. Your winning bid is a commitment to complete the purchase, NOT re-negotiate the deal in my driveway. The vehicle will stay with me until cleared, certified funds are in my possession. Thanks you for looking and reading this and Good Luck in your bidding. |

This is what a 3D-printed liquid metal Ford Torino looks like
Sat, 12 Oct 2013Artist Ioan Florea has encapsulated a 1971 Ford Torino with 3-D-printed liquid metal transferred onto the car using technology that he developed, and the result is a stunningly shiny, seamless design.
"The surface has the highest coefficient of reflectivity never achieved before," Florea told us in an e-mail, using "nano-materials and nano-pigments that create an internal three-dimensional structure and dictate the polymer how to behave." Sure... We'll leave it to him to make any more 3-D-printed liquid metal-transferred art pieces.
Florea grew up in Romania, and the motivation behind picking the old Ford as his canvas came from his childhood memories of what an American car is - "big and wide and fascinating," he says - and the European name of the car itself, which it shares with an Italian city.
Ford reveals Fiesta ST race car, points at road ahead for bigger things in Global RallyCross
Wed, 06 Feb 2013The 2014 Ford Fiesta ST doesn't go on sale until this summer, but fans of Global RallyCross will be able to catch the car in action before then. Announced ahead of the Chicago Auto Show, the Fiesta ST will be the car run by Ford GRC teams this season, and the model on display in Chicago will be the racecar built by Swedish tuner OlsbergsMSE driven by Tanner Foust and Brian Deegan. Ken Block and his newly renamed Hoonigan Racing Division will also be competing in the Fiesta ST.
The 2013 GRC season has not been announced yet, but the venues will also include the summer X Games events in Brazil, Spain, Germany and, of course, Los Angeles. Ford announced that it will be the sole automotive sponsor of this year's summer X Games, and it will be looking to bring home a gold medal this year after Block placed silver last year.
In other Ken Block- and Ford-related news, another Chicago debut will be a tuned Focus ST called the TrackSTer project. Built in cooperation with Block, Ford and automotive tuner fifteen52, the TrackSTer will get plenty of styling, performance and handling upgrades. Some of the add-ons include a performance exhaust and short-throw shifter from Ford Racing, a rebuilt engine, upgraded components such as the limited-slip differential, intercooler, engine controller and clutch as well as upgraded brakes.
2014 Ford Fiesta gets fuel economy bump to 41 mpg
Fri, 07 Jun 2013The 2014 Ford Fiesta is in showrooms now with refreshed styling and new performance ST model, but it's what isn't yet available that should help the Fiesta stand out from the growing crowd of subcompacts. Aside from the new 1.0-liter EcoBoost model coming later this year, Ford recently told us that a new Fiesta SFE trim level is on the way that should put the updated Fiesta at the top of its class for fuel economy.
The new Fiesta SFE will hit an estimated 41 miles per gallon on the highway when equipped with the six-speed automatic transmission. The current listing on fueleconomy.gov shows the 2014 Fiesta getting up to 29 mpg city and 39 highway, but the SFE will get minor aero tuning and a recalibrated engine controller to help bump the highway figure past rivals like the Chevrolet Sonic and Nissan Versa - both of which top out at 40-mpg highway. There's still no word as to when the small 1.0-liter EcoBoost will show in the US, but Ford has indicated that engine's fuel economy isn't expected to be released until October.
