Ladies and Gentlemen—Ford Lovers—First Time Offered on Ebay!

What an opportunity to own a one-of-a-kind Ford Galaxie 500XL at a great price!!

There’s no doubt that the Galaxie 500 XL is the king of galaxies.  Rarely do you find a rust free Galaxie 500 XL with a slim chance of finding another one like it.  Up for auction is a very nice 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 XL with low miles.  I bought this car from a friend of mine who was in the process of restoring it but suddenly decided to move to Florida after surviving one of the worst winters here on the east coast.  The restoration of this timeless classic to date includes:

  • Rebuilt 390 cu. inch Hi-Perf engine with 428 heads.

  • New intake, carburetor, coil, distributor etc.

  • New power brake conversion kit including calipers, rotors, brake lines, brake hoses, master cylinder and brake booster.

  • New instrument panel kit, with tach, speedometer etc.

  • New Ron Francis wiring from bumper to bumper.

  • Complete dual exhaust system with Flomaster Mufflers.

  • New Hankook Tires mounted on Rocket Magnesium Wheels.

  • NOTE: A set of re-chromed bumpers (show quality) and a totally restored console shifter is included in the sale with other parts (see photos)***

The car runs and drives great.  The floor pans, frame rails, and trunk are in very good condition (see photos of undercarriage).  All mechanical components were found to be in good condition.  All of the pot metal, bumpers, moldings etc. are in excellent condition and nothing is missing.  When was the last time you saw one of these (in this color combination) anywhere?  It has a clear title. Drive it home!

NO DISAPPOINTMENTS!

Ford Galaxie 500 XLs, in this condition, are almost impossible to find these days!

If you’ve been waiting for a very nice Galaxie 500 XL to come along then don’t let this one get away; should you have any questions, please call  Bill @ 410-271-6800.

The car is sold AS-IS with no guarantee/warranty either expressed or implied.  Successful bidder pays $500 down payment (PayPal) is preferred) for the vehicle within 48 hours of bid close and should make arrangements to pick up the car within 2 weeks of auction close.  Seller releases all responsibility for the car upon receipt of payment from bidder.  Buyer will assume all responsibility for said vehicle, including but not limited to liability.  Seller has the right to end the auction early.

Toyota again claims Corolla outsold Focus worldwide

Wed, 10 Apr 2013

Toyota isn't convinced the Ford Focus was the best-selling nameplate globally last year. Bloomberg reports that for the second time in seven months, both Toyota and Ford are laying claim to the title. Ford cites R.L. Polk & Co. data that says the automaker moved some 1.02 million Focus models in 2012 compared to just 872,774 Toyota Corolla units. But Toyota says the actual figure is closer to 1.16 million Corolla models.
Last year, Ford said it took the sales crown through the fist half of 2012 based on information from IHS Automotive, but Toyota pointed out those numbers left out models like the Corolla-based Matrix and Auris, as well as the Corolla Fielder and Scion xB-based Corolla Rumion. Whether or not Toyota's belief that all these cars should be counted in the Corolla bucket is accurate or not is seemingly up for debate... as is the question of why it matters so much to both parties.
This time around, Ford is holding the line that the Focus is the "best-selling nameplate," with Erich Merkle, a US sales analyst with Ford saying the company's figure is, "a pure number that is verified by a third party." Toyota, meanwhile, has requested clarification from Polk.

Ford Fiesta becomes UK all-time best seller

Thu, 24 Jul 2014

We may regard Ford as an American automaker, but ask a Brit and they may tell you otherwise. The Blue Oval has, after all, been selling cars in the UK since 1903, and started manufacturing there as far back as 1911 when it began local production of the Model T in Manchester. Last year Ford ended 100 years of vehicle manufacturing in the UK when the last Transit van rolled off the assembly line in Southampton, but it's still the biggest-selling automotive marque in Britain.
Ford has led the British market for 34 out of the past 45 years, selling more Fiestas than any other company sells any other car in the UK since 2009... when it overtook the Focus. In fact the Fiesta has now become the best-selling car in British history, topping 4,115,000 units since its introduction in 1976. The previous record was held by - you guessed it - another Ford: the Escort sold 4,105,961 units over the course of its 32 years on the British market.
Although the Fiesta is no longer manufactured in the UK (previous versions having been built at Dagenham until 2002), engines are: the EcoBoost line was developed at the company's R&D center in Essex and are built at the factory in Dunton, while its diesel engines were developed at Dagenham in East London. Even the 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine in the Fiesta ST is built in South Wales.

Introducing the 1965 Ford Mustang

Sat, 24 Aug 2013

Put on your space suits and diving bell helmets, for it's time to step into a time capsule. The 50th anniversary of a historic model, like, say, the Porsche 911 this year, is certain to bring flights of nostalgia. This historical trip with the 1965 Mustang, though - preliminary hype for next year's anniversary, we know - is a swell museum exhibit for anyone who enjoys bygone days of the automobile.
Lee Iaccoca gave a speech to motoring journalists on April 1, 1964 at the New York World's Fair to introduce a sporty car for younger drivers. His opening line: "Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to one of the proudest moments of our lives." The company was so excited by what it had made that the Mustang was Ford's first "International Press Introduction," being introduced to some 2,000 journos around the world on the same day in the US and 11 European cities. Even through its difficult points, no one at the time could have known how well the Mustang would acquit that pride.
After the intro, the press drove Mustangs 750 miles from New York to Dearborn, MI, reading press kits that touted features like the "vertical, three-sectional taillights/turn signals," "170" six-cylinder engine with 101 horsepower and the available Cruise-O-Matic transmission.
