1964 Ford Galaxie 500 Big block 390 4 speed

This is one sweet car!  I recently found this car buried n an old guys garage!  The last time It was registered and on the road was in the early 90s.

The man I purchased the car from said that the motor was professionally rebuilt shortly before he parked it.  He also said that when he purchased the car sometime in the 1980's, he got it from Missouri.  Until it was brought here, it was a Missouri car only, explaining how rust free it is.  This Galaxie was wrecked back in the 1970s and the original owner in Missouri had the car fixed.  The title on the car reflects that, as it says rebuilt on it.  The car is nice and straight. It drives perfectly straight and feels nice and tight.  The car makes no abnormal noises, and the transmission shifts nice and crisp.

The pictures make this car look really nice, and it is, however I want to be perfectly clear that the car needs some work. It has been sitting for a long time, so as you might expect, some of the lights don't work, a lower quarter panel patch is showing some blisters in the paint. The car needs a good tune up, etc..

The gas has been drained and refilled with fresh gas. A new fuel pump was installed, points were cleaned and adjusted, and she fired right up!!

Apparently this car used to do some racing back in the 1960's. It has a locked rear axle which is great for drag racing, but not so great for the street, but that is just my opinion.

The interior is all original and in very good shape. It does have some small tearing on the seams of the seats.

NOTE: The wheels and tires pictured do NOT go with the sale of the car.  I will put on the original wheels and hub caps.

This car also comes with some misc parts including a perfect original hood from a 1964 Galaxie.

V6 engines will outpace V8s for the 2015 Ford F-150

Wed, 23 Jul 2014

How times have changed. Even five years ago, who would have thought the mighty V8 would be just another engine choice for buyers of the 2015 Ford F-150?
Ford is projecting about 28 percent of the next-generation trucks will have the 5.0-liter V8. That's nothing to sneeze at, but consider this: Ford figures its two EcoBoost truck engines - the new 2.7-liter V6 and the existing 3.5-liter V6 - will also each account for about 28 percent of the F-150's sales (56 percent total). That leaves only 15 percent of the pie for the 3.5-liter (non-EcoBoost) V6. The new F-150 goes on sale late this year.

Ford shutters Genk assembly plant in Belgium

Tue, Dec 23 2014

Ford has become the latest automaker to close one of its European assembly plants. The facility in question is located in the Belgian city of Genk and has been in operation since the early '60s when it started building the Taunus, Ford's first mass-produced, front-drive model. As part of the plan first announced over two years ago, the Genk Body & Assembly Plant is now closing its doors after half a century in the business and over fourteen million vehicles built. Although the plant itself employed some 5,000 workers, once you take into account the suppliers built up around the plant, the overall impact on employment in the area edges closer to 12,000. Genk Body & Assembly had until recently been tasked with producing the Mondeo sedan (which in its current iteration we know as the Fusion) as well as the S-Max and Galaxy minivans. Production of the Mondeo shifted in 2013 to the company's plant in Valencia, Spain, which also handles the Kuga crossover and Transit Connect cargo van, and will soon take over the minivans from Genk as well. The move follows a similar decision undertaken by General Motors to close the Opelwerk plant in Bochum, Germany. It also reflects a scaling down of automobile production in Belgium specifically: although Audi still manufacturers in Brussels and and Volvo in Ghent, Opel closed its plant in Antwerp in 2000 and Renault ceased production in Vilvoorde back in '97. However Ford still maintains its famous proving ground half an hour to the north in Lommel, Belgium. Blue Oval's new Cargo cab-over rig is largest "One Ford" initiative yet

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The imposing commercial truck above has a feature that might be surprising to most Autoblog readers - a Blue Oval emblem on the front. Here in North America, Ford simply doesn't play in the eighteen-wheeler sandbox, but that doesn't mean that the Dearborn-based automaker is absent in the heavy hauling space in other parts of the globe. In fact, Ford presently fields two completely different big rig ranges under the Cargo moniker - one a product of an Eastern Europe/Turkey joint venture, and another from Brazil. But that's about to start changing with the advent of this new cab-over model seen here.
Unveiled in São Paulo, Brazil, this new generation of Cargo is perhaps the largest physical embodiment of CEO Alan Mulally's "One Ford" global streamlining strategy. Instead of multiple models, company engineers have developed a new single truck that it says will better meet the needs of truckers in all markets. Designed to compete in what's known as the "extra heavy-duty segment" elsewhere in the world, this Cargo was developed jointly by Ford engineering teams in Brazil, Turkey and Europe.
Specifics remain hard to come by (read: unreleased), but Ford is promising an all-new engine enabling hauling capability of up to 56 tons while still returning excellent fuel economy. Ford's global Cargo lineup will henceforth consist of a dozen models, but Ford tells Autoblog has no plans to bring this hot and heavy-duty action to North America.
