This is a Kentucky car purchased in 2012 at the Barrett Jackson Auction in West Palm Beach, Florida.  It has an upgraded 289cid small block, Top Loader 4 speed transmission, original Galaxie colors, new tires, 9" Ford rear end, factory suspension, dual exhaust, nice chrome and stainless with a straight body.  Beautiful example of a vehicle built by Ford to be a high performance racing specifications machine. A larger forebearer to the muscle car.  This model year was the fourth and final year of this body style.  The formal roof "boxtop" style was replaced by the slanted (fastback) roof design. The exterior features a more sculpted look and was designed to be more aerodynamic for NASCAR.  The Galaxie took to the racetracks in serious fashion in 1964 for the purpose of drag racing.

The car's interior underwent a complete restoration in 2012 with year correct seat covers with chrome trim emblems, new foam padding and burlap, new side panels, weatherstripping, new kick panels, and new trunk interior. This vehicle has been garage kept and meticulously maintained.  If your looking for a Galaxie or just looking for a MEAN driving machine, your would be hard pressed to find a nicer one!!

Project Ugly Horse alive and kicking at Road & Track

The hallways of the Autoblog campus are much quieter now that Zach Bowman has taken his prose, along with his welders, wrenches and hammers, over to the digital pages of Road & Track, but that doesn't mean our favorite project Mustang is gone forever. Project Ugly Horse is still coming along, and Zach has gifted us another update on his unfoxy Fox Body.
Last we saw of the Ugly Horse, Zach was strengthening up the '89 Mustang's chassis as he prepares to stuff the turbocharged, direct-injected EcoBoost engine of a Ford Focus ST under the hood. Ford talking unibody Ranger replacement

Now here's some welcome news. Car and Driver reports Ford is seriously mulling a replacement for the recently deceased Ranger, but the successor to the compact pickup's throne may not look anything like what we've seen from the nameplate in the past.
While speaking at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show, Doug Scott, marketing manager for Ford Trucks, said there's still a market for a smaller pickup, but that buyers expect to see a larger differentiation between the smaller utility vehicles and their full size counterparts in price, capability and fuel economy.
According to Scott, that means a vehicle with a payload capacity of around 1,000 pounds paired with a towing capacity of 3,000 pounds and "a dramatic reduction in fuel consumption." But the biggest piece of that recipe is the price tag, and Scott says to keep the MSRP far enough away from the already cheap F-150, the answer could come in the form of a unibody design. Scott says target customers in this market don't care whether the truck has a traditional frame or not, so long as it's tough enough to do the job and has the capability they need.
