RESPONSE TO QUESTION CONCERNING WHY WE ARE SELLING:

"Dear C****,

Thank you for the kind comments on the 1963 Ford Galaxie 500.

It is, indeed, a "cool car".

My wife & I decided to raise some cash to add to our retirement investments & begin to spend longer weekends enjoying a Class A RV that my wife & I just purchased, dingy towing a Jeep behind. Since we will be on the road more often & not be able to care for our collection,
we decided to sell off most of our extensive collection, raising cash for retirement at the same time. We are only retaining a 1934 Ford Tudor, 1957 Chevy Bel Air, 1972 VW Beetle & a 1994 "Ruby" Corvette, each of which one of our children have laid claims on.

The '63 Galaxie, our favorite "family" vehicle, was also our largest vehicle. Given that our youngest daughter has just moved away (finally, an "empty nest" after 39 years & 4 children), the odds of once again needing a large 4 seater for events will be nil going forward. The Convertible top, large trunk, powerful engine & the A/C made it a perfect car to take to shows & Street Rod Nationals, which we did quite often, both before & after the rebuild. Great memories...

The Galaxie is in top mechanical condition & I feel comfortable driving it anywhere at any time. Engine idles nicely, transmission is tight, car accelerates smoothly & stops well.

As items came to my attention for maintenance, they were addressed & resolved in the appropriate manner. Keep in mind that no 50+ year old vehicle is perfect & over time will need to be worked on.

If you take care of her, she will be a great addition to your collection, to your family, and to your memories.

Best regards,

Bart"

Petersen Museum celebrates 50 years of Ford Mustang with special exhibit

Mon, May 5 2014

If you're a pony-car enthusiast, this is your year. Not only has Ford introduced an all-new Mustang, but it's also the 50th anniversary of the original. Celebrations and commemorations have been scheduled throughout the year, and not the least of them is the latest exhibit at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. Called "Mustangs Forever: 50 Years of a Legend", the exhibit includes Mustangs from every generation of the iconic pony car, including the 1965 convertible Ronald Reagan drove during his California gubernatorial campaign, a 1971 Mach 1 Cobra Jet, a 1974 Mustang II, 1993 SVT Cobra, 2000 Cobra R and a 2006 Shelby GT-H. Special sections focus on motorsports, aftermarket modifiers and limited-edition models. The display opened on Sunday with the Mustang Madness spectacular and will run for the next six months, but if you're not heading to Southern California within the coming half-year then you can scope out all the action in our live gallery of photos above.

Ford Fusion demand outstripping supply

Sat, 15 Jun 2013

The attractive new 2013 Ford Fusion has done wonders for the brand in the highly competitive midsize sedan segment - the vehicle is up nearly 22 percent compared to last year. But that sales momentum may soon hold steady due to low inventory levels of the new Fusion across the United States.
According to a report in The Detroit News, citing automotive data and Ward's Auto, Ford currently has a 39-day supply of the Fusion. That might sound fine, but a normally healthy average is about a 60-day supply. If Ford were to stop production on the Fusion today, there would only be enough vehicles available to get through another five weeks of sales, according to the News.
Currently, Ford produces the Fusion at its three-shift assembly plant in Hermosillo, Mexico, and will add production at its facility in Flat Rock, MI later this year. A Ford spokesperson told The Detroit News that when Flat Rock production comes online, the automaker will need to rush new stock out to the regions with the most demand for the Fusion. Ford has doubled its coastal retail market share, with huge amounts of growth in areas like Los Angeles, San Francisco and Miami, the News reports.

Ford Mustang GT Bi-Fuel CNG

Tue, 23 Jul 2013

Highly intrigued, we recently visited a Southern California Gas Company office to check out several hybrid vehicles promising something new. Unlike more commonplace gasoline-electric hybrids, we were there to evaluate innovative gasoline-compressed natural gas (CNG) hybrids - yes, they run on unleaded gasoline and compressed natural gas. According to the experts on hand, this arrangement delivers extended range and reduced emissions while chipping in with lower operating costs than pure-gasoline vehicles. There are advantages over its gasoline-electric counterparts, as well.
The program is part of a three-way collaboration between The Carlab, a Southern California-based automotive consulting firm, Landi Renzo USA, a company specializing in alternative fuel solutions, and America's Natural Gas Alliance, a group that promotes CNG. Long story short, the team has engineered a way to allow a modified internal combustion vehicle to seamlessly switch between two fuels (gasoline and CNG) with no driver intervention. In theory, and if it works as well as promised, it's a win-win for the vehicle owner and the environment.
Parked at the Gas Company office were six different gasoline-CNG hybrid vehicles. To demonstrate the technology's versatility (just about any gasoline vehicle may be modified) Carlab brought a varied assortment of bodystyles, each from a different automaker. After taking a quick glance at the half-dozen in the parking lot, we made a beeline for the performance-oriented Ford Mustang GT - a 2012 model - with the six-speed manual gearbox.
