West Chester, Pennsylvania, United States
This is a parts car. NO engine or trans. NO interior except dash.
The Good: Great doors, may have new skins. If there's any rot in them I did not see it. Nice fenders Nice hood Nice trunk lid Grille is intact Nice windshield and windshield trim Door and quarter glass with regulators are intact and in nice condition Has the rear trim Has some body trim Decent radiator core support (car is assembled so I can not tell if there is any significant rot in it Rear bumper is rusty but probably can be chromed (check my other auction for a perfect rear bumper) Has an old set of american racing rims that are in nice condition Dash is in the car and is very nice, including the gauges, knobs, switches and aluminum trim. Color is blue. Clear XL title The Bad: Frame is rotted Quarters are rotted Trunk floor is rotted No convertible top frame No steering column or wheel No drivetrain This is a parts car. Be aware that you will need to haul it away, I recommend a roll back or trailer. I have no idea the condition of the rear end and bearings. If you bid and win I expect you to understand what you are buying. These pics are the best I can get while its in the garage. It is a complete roller and the body is completely assembled, minus what is stated. |

Ford reports $3B profit in Q4, $6.9B for the year
Tue, 28 Jan 2014Good news out of Dearborn today, as Ford announced $3 billion in profit for the last quarter of 2013, a 90-percent increase over the same period of 2012. Net income for all of last year, meanwhile, jumped to $7.2 billion from $5.7 billion in 2012, while pre-tax profits sat at a decade-topping $6.9 billion for all of 2013.
The results of the substantial profit increases are bigger profit-sharing checks for UAW employees. How big? A record $8,800 on average for 47,000 UAW workers, making 2013 the biggest year for profit sharing in Ford history. In total, $414 million will be paid as part of the profit-sharing scheme.
Now, it should be pointed out that a fair portion of Ford's Q4 profits were due to tax benefits, totaling $2.1 billion, according to Automotive News. Total profits would have also been higher, had there not been a significant recall on the Escape, as well as plant issues in South America.
How Ford plans to handle insurance and repair questions surrounding new aluminum-bodied F-150
Tue, 21 Jan 2014Building a car out of aluminum has a number of benefits - the lighter weight allows the vehicle to be more agile, more fuel efficient, make better use of its power and be more resistant to dings and dents. The downside to the advanced construction, though, is that repairs are both challenging and expensive. That's troubling for the new, aluminum-bodied Ford F-150, because it's kind of made a name for itself as a rugged, durable work vehicle.
How will the legions of Ford buyers cope when it comes time to insure and repair their new trucks? Well, according to Ford, it's expecting a ten-percent jump in insurance costs for the aluminum-bodied F-150, although Ford's truck marketing manager, Doug Scott, was quick to point out that the F-150 is generally cheaper to insure than its competition from Ram and General Motors. "At the end of the day, that's sort of a wash," Scott told Automotive News at last week's Detroit Auto Show. "We've spent a lot of time and feel very comfortable that that's not going to be an inhibitor."
The other issue facing Ford is the distinct lack of body shops that have the training or equipment to repair aluminum-bodied vehicles. AN cites an estimate from the Automotive Service Association claiming that of the 30,000 independent body shops in the US, less than 10 percent are able to work on aluminum.
