1962 Ford Galaxie 2-Door Club Sedan

For sale is an ALL ORIGINAL and COMPLETE 1962 Ford Galaxie that would be a great candidate for a full restoration.  Don't want to send this to the crusher.  Originally Raven Black exterior with Gray and Turquoise interior (based on data plate which is still on the car).

Vehicle does not have a title, but will provide Bill of Sale.

Odometer shows 1,614.

Car is not in running condition now and it is not known when it last ran.  Has been sitting for a number of years.  But the original 223 inline 6 cylinder engine and seemingly all its components, including Holly carburetor, are all there, ready to be brought back to life.  Dipstick indicated engine still has oil in the pan.

Interior will need restoration as well of course.  Front seats are there, rear seat is long gone.  Rust in floor is actually not as bad as many others I've seen.  See photos.

3-Speed "On the Tree" Manual Transmission - Condition unknown.

Will need new tires but the ones on it now will pump and hold air long enough for you to get it on to a trailer.

Dashboard looks like all the original stuff is there, and someone added Amperage and Oil Pressure gauges at some point.  Radio still there. Glovebox is gone.

Mostly surface rust on exterior - body is pretty solid for the most part.

Most of the aluminium trim seems to be there - it's all been removed from the car and is in the trunk, with a few pieces laying in the front seat (including original horn button).

Has that wonderful, distinct old car interior smell.

If you're looking for a good restoration project this old girl is calling your name!  Would be a great flip for a collector car dealer, or a nice father/son project to anyone with basic restoration knowledge.

Feel free to contact me about coming to see it in person.  Vehicle is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.

If you have any questions or concerns at all, PLEASE ASK BEFORE BIDDING!

Being sold AS-IS with no warranties.  No refunds or returns.

Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!

Ford settles class action suit over defective Navistar diesel engines

Fri, 25 Oct 2013

The 2003 Ford F-Series Super Duty (shown above) introduced the 6.0-liter Power Stroke diesel supplied by Navistar, and while that is an engine Ford would love to forget, it's now one step closer to putting that particular problem behind it. Automotive News is reporting that Ford has settled a class-action lawsuit brought on by problems with this engine that started right out of the gate and ultimately broke up the 30-year relationship between Ford and Navistar.
Owners and lessees of 2003-2007 Super Duty trucks and E-Series vans equipped with the 6.0-liter Power Stroke are eligible for deductible reimbursements of between $50 and $200 from the original five-year/100,000-mile engine warranty, while Ford is paying out as much as $825 for out-of-warranty engine repairs. These repairs may include the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler, EGR valve, oil cooler, fuel injectors and turbocharger, but are only covered if the components failed before six years or 135,000 miles.
In total, Ford has agreed to pay about 50 percent of the value of the repairs and deductibles paid by its customers who submit a claim before the end of this year, and $150,000 is going to the 16 named plaintiffs in the case; Navistar was not included in the lawsuit.

Ford's Farley apologizes for saying Blue Oval tracks customers with GPS

Fri, 10 Jan 2014

Ford marketing head honcho Jim Farley made waves at CES this week by telling show attendees, "We know everyone who breaks the law, we know when you're doing it." according to a report by Business Insider. Farley continued by saying, "We have GPS in your car, so we know what you're doing. By the way, we don't supply that data to anyone."
Farley has since amended his statement, saying that Ford dose not, in fact, track its customers in their cars "without their approval or consent."
Apparently carried away with a hypothetical notion, Farley was attempting to describe how Ford might be able to employee aggregated user data for things like accurate traffic reporting and pattern spotting. A Ford spokesperson confirmed with Business Insider that its GPS units are not sharing the whereabouts of drivers, though there are a few on-board services that might do so. After opting in to the services (and presumably being made aware of any/all tracking and data collection), Ford's Sync Services Directions and Crew Chief software do, in fact, allow data collection as a means of improving both systems. Farley added that the opt-in data is not shared, even when being tracked.

Ford hybrid sales rebound following MPG controversy

Sun, 31 Aug 2014

Ford hybrid customers apparently have very short memories. With two EPA fuel economy reratings in the last year, sales of the C-Max, Fusion Hybrid and Lincoln MKZ haven't been too terribly dented, Ward's Auto reports.
All three vehicles saw sales dips following the August 2013 rerating, although sales of the MKZ Hybrid had begun to rebound as early as November of that year. C-Max sales, meanwhile, took slightly longer, with sales on a steadily improving course as early as February of this year.
The second rerating, in June of this year, has had an even smaller effect on the Blue Oval's hybrids. The C-Max has actually been subject to a sales increase, while both the MKZ and Fusion saw minor sales drops (less than 400 units between the two in the month following the rerating).
