1962 FORD GALAXIE 500 XL CLASSIC CAR/LOWRIDER/HOT ROD/SHOW CAR

The INTERIOR of this 62 was completed with a Burgundy on Black color coordination that added great comfort and a show quality finish to the interior. The 500XL stitching on the back of the seats ads that extra quality and design to the interior. The entire floor and roof of the car has been layered with Dynamat. This has greatly reduced road noise and improved the quality of the sound system that has been added to the car. When the new headliner was installed I added a new Windshield, and added all new gaskets to every part of the car.

Shortly after the interior completion the dash color was modified by removing the factory dash pad and sprayed with a two stage Ford color-Dark Cherry Metallic paint made by DIAMONT to match the interior. It was chosen to enhance the look of this new interior. Some new dash bezels were added as well as temperature and oil sending gauges for highly accurate readings. The interior was finished off with a great sound system customized just for this car. THIS IS A SMOKE FREE CLASSIC CAR!

The SOUND:

1-JVC -50W X4 Mofset Apple/ipod/Satellite Radio-Ready in Dash CD/DVD Deck-Model: KWAV70BT

2-JBL 4”X6” 2 way Car speakers with plus one HCL Woofer cones Model: JBLP6462

1-Infinity Kappa One 1600W Class D Digital Mono Amplifier

2-Infinity Kappa One 10” Subwoofers 100.9W-2 ohms-mounted in the trunk in a specially designed box.

2-Pioneer 6X9 rear speakers

2-4” SCOSCHE speakers mounted in specially designed kick panels by Rhino Fabrication.

1 Alpine 4 Channel KTP-445U Power Pack Universal Amp.

No holes were cut inside this car for any of the customization that was done in the interior. All of the original metal panels remain intact as it was when the vehicle was made in 1962. All of the chrome trim, original radio, dash bezels and console pieces remain intact. The interior is of showroom quality. The interior dash bulbs were upgraded to a brighter more luminescent bulb that really shows the instrument panel when night driving. The STEERING WHEEL has been covered with a special order Leather Wheel Skin cover made by: WheelSkins.com

The ENGINE of this car was completely rebuilt by a professional and recently completed June 2013. It is the original Ford 390 big block with some upgrades as listed:

TO LIST A FEW:

MSD Ignition System/Summit Racing

.533 Lift/Exh. Comp Camshaft/Summit Racing

Comp Roller Rockers/Jegs High Performance

Bored .30 with High Comp. Pistons/Rings/Bearings

Edelbrock Mid-Rise Aluminum Intake

Quick Flow SS-750 4 Barrel Double Pumper Carburetor

New Chrome 7” Brake Booster

Edelbrock High Rise Aluminum Valve Covers

Edelbrock Chrome Breather

16” electric pusher fan

Chrome Oil Pan

120 gph Holley Fuel Pump…

and many extras…

This ENGINE is completely awesome, runs and performs with EXCELLENCE! There are 197 miles on the engine since it was recently completed-2013. The car is garage kept and the Engine is still going through its break in period.

THE TRANSMISSION of this car came with a Ford Cruise O Matic transmission which remains in the car. SEE NOTE BELOW in reference to the additional 3 Speed Transmission that is a part of this sale:

The WHEELS are New 17” Cragar Series 390C Chrome Street Pro 2-piece composite wheel with traditional hot rod styling. These Cragar wheels are mounted on TOYO PROXES 4 P245/45ZR/17 Tires.

The BRAKES are drum on all 4 wheels. They have been turned and have been completely equipped with new cylinders and pads. The original booster was replaced with a 7” chrome booster to allow clearance for the high valve covers. The brakes need to be upgraded to front disk brakes for better stopping power.

The UNDERCARRIAGE is rust free. Underneath the car has been stripped clean to the bare and is free of grease and dirt. Liquid Dynamat undercoating has been applied from front to rear of the car. The rear end is the original Ford 9”-3:00:1 ratio and the EXHUAST recently completed with 2-1/2” pipe that holds 2 Flowmaster 10 mufflers. The Flowmaster 10’s give it an awesome sound with a deep tone.

THE SUSPENSION is NEW and has been completely upgraded with Air Ride Technologies Level 2 Air Ride system. “The LEVEL 2 system provides more tuning with the addition of a Shockwave® front kit and the enhanced RideProe3™ control system. The front Shockwave® system is a simple bolt-on install. The single shock and air spring unit provides a cleaner appearance and offers adjustable shock valving to aid in tuning. A Ridetech 4-Link will position the rear more precisely and eliminate the flexing and instability of the leaf spring rear. The 5 gallon RidePro®e3 system provides 4 way digital control. It allows 3 system air pressure presets to provide accurate adjustments with the touch of just one button.” I ordered this system with 2 remotes that allow the system to be adjusted with a touch of a button. It rides like a new car and handles far better than you could ever get with the factory suspension.

The TRUNK has been customized and carpeted. Panels have been custom fit and covered to give it a great look as well as a great sound barrier. Dynamat also covers the floor of the trunk and the inner fender wells to reduce noise and improve sound quality. Also, covered panels have been cut to custom fit the inner trunk lid for an added barrier.

The EXTERIOR is a Ford color that was used on later model Ford vehicles. Dark Cherry Metallic was chosen early on for this project. One coat of sealer primer rests underneath 2 coats of Dark Cherry Metallic paint and 3 coats of Southern Polyurethane clear/ cut and buffed to a mirror finish. The exterior chrome was removed to give the car a more LOWRIDER feel and streamline effect. This is after all, a MODIFIED street rod not to be mistaken for an all ORIGINAL car. The FRONT BUMPER has been completely restored and triple chromed by Tri-City Plating in Elizabethton, TN. The rear bumper is driver quality but needs to be re-chromed. The headlight bezels were repaired and re-chromed by Atlantic Coast Plating in Athens, TN and 4 Chrome (Ford) Headlight protective rings were added for a greater appeal. The car could be cut and buffed once again if the buyer chooses to get an even better shine out of the paint. The clear coat is Southern Polyurethane 4000-1. 1:1 ratio.

2014 Ford Fiesta ST priced from $21,400* [w/poll]

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

The 2014 model year brings a whole host of changes to Ford's Fiesta B-Segment fighter, the most important of which (to our enthusiast eyes, anyway) is the addition of a potent new ST model. The US-spec hot hatch was first shown at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show last November, and thanks to Ford's build-and-price site, we've now learned that the Fiesta ST will slide in at $21,400 when it goes on sale later this year (*not including $795 for destination).
Under the hood of the ST is a turbocharged 1.6-liter EcoBoost inline-four good for 197 horsepower and 214 pound-feet of torque, mated solely to a six-speed manual transmission. Ford hasn't released performance data on its pint-sized puncher just yet, but know that these numbers make the Fiesta ST ever-so-slightly more powerful than the larger Volkswagen GTI while returning an estimated 34 miles per gallon on the highway.
Elsewhere in the lineup, the standard Fiesta also gets a smattering of improvements for the 2014 model year, including a new 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine and revised exterior styling. Pricing for the 2014 Fiesta sedan starts at $14,000, with the five-door model adding $600 to that number (again excluding the $795 destination fee).

2015 Ford S-Max adds all-wheel drive, adaptive steering

Fri, 03 Oct 2014

The Blue Oval's 'One Ford' mantra has seen rapid commonization of the automaker's products across markets, but North America still has to look from afar at most of the company's Max-branded people movers, including this new S-Max. That's a bit of a shame - we like the space efficiency and above-average driving dynamics of the C-Max models we do get, but seeing this updated seven-seat small minivan makes us want the One Ford initiative to extend even further.
The new model's changes include an updated powertrain range including a 1.5-liter EcoBoost four with 158 horsepower, and a larger, 237-horsepower, 2.0-liter model, along with a pair of revised lower-emissions 2.0-liter diesels. The big news, however, is the advent of available all-wheel drive, something that hasn't been offered since the S-Max first went on sale back in 2006.
On the technology front, the S-Max is the first European model to receive Ford Adaptive Steering, a variable-ratio technology we recently sampled in a prototype Fusion that is expected to go into production on the next-generation Edge. The S-Max also receives a new aluminum-intensive integral link rear suspension, packaged to continue to fit up to 32 different seating combinations. Safety equipment is always a prime concern in kinschleppers like the S-Max, and to that end, this new model receives pre-collision assist technology and LED headlamps.

Bring back the Bronco! Trademarks we hope are actually (someday) future car names

Tue, Mar 17 2015

Trademark filings are the tea leaves of the auto industry. Read them carefully – and interpret them correctly – and you might be previewing an automaker's future product plans. Yes, they're routinely filed to maintain the rights to an iconic name. And sometimes they're only for toys and clothing. But not always. Sometimes, the truth is right in front of us. The trademark is required because a company actually wants to use the name on a new car. With that in mind, here's a list of intriguing trademark filings we want to see go from paperwork to production reality. Trademark: Bronco Company: Ford Previous Use: The Bronco was a long-running SUV that lived from 1966-1996. It's one of America's original SUVs and was responsible for the increased popularity of the segment. Still, it's best known as O.J. Simpson's would-be getaway car. We think: The Bronco was an icon. Everyone seems to want a Wrangler-fighter – Ford used to have a good one. Enough time has passed that the O.J. police chase isn't the immediate image conjured by the Bronco anymore. Even if we're doing a wish list in no particular order, the Bronco still finds its way to the top. For now (unfortunately), it's just federal paperwork. Rumors on this one can get especially heated. The official word from a Ford spokesman is: "Companies renew trademark filings to maintain ownership and control of the mark, even if it is not currently used. Ford values the iconic Bronco name and history." Trademarks: Aviator, AV8R Company: Ford Previous Use: The Aviator was one of the shortest-run Lincolns ever, lasting for the 2003-2005 model years. It never found the sales success of the Ford Explorer, with which it shared a platform. We Think: The Aviator name no longer fits with Lincoln's naming nomenclature. Too bad, it's better than any other name Lincoln currently uses, save for its former big brother, the Navigator. Perhaps we're barking up the wrong tree, though. Ford has made several customized, aviation themed-Mustangs in the past, including one called the Mustang AV8R in 2008, which had cues from the US Air Force's F-22 Raptor fighter jet. It sold for $500,000 at auction, and the glass roof – which is reminiscent of a fighter jet cockpit – helped Ford popularize the feature. Trademark: EcoBeast Company: Ford Previous Use: None by major carmakers.
