You are bidding on a 1962 ford galaxie 500 2 door hardtop. Originally a white on red car with a 352 and cruisomatic. Car was built in Los Angeles, CA. It now has a later 390 ford big block with a cruisomatic trans. Motor runs great and trans shifts good. Chrome headers, 2 1/2" exhaust with flowmasters. Interior is very nice. The car needs minor body work and paint, the floors are solid. The only signs of notable rust are in a lip under the front roof and in two lower parts of the passenger rear wheel well and front driver's door, also under the chrome on the deck lid. No major rust issues. Looks like the roof has been repaired in places, but seems very solid to me. The front end will need to be looked at. The car drives straight, but there is a clunk when turning (possibly control arm bushings and a rag joint). The heater is not hooked up, but the fan works great. All electrical in very good shape. Not much to get this thing sturdy for the road. The car needs attention from someone who has time to finish it. I have some of the chrome trim off of the car right now and in total I have 98 percent of all the chrome for it that will go with the car. The car has new brakes and axle seals. I also have a new fuel pump for the car. Any questions, please feel free to contact me (949) 735-4726. I reserve the right to end this auction at any time. Winning bidder is fully responsible for payment and shipping arrangements. A $500 non-refundable deposit is due within 48 hours of the final bid date. A cleared cashier's check or cash is my only acceptance of payment from the winning bidder. Good luck and happy bidding!

Autoblog Technology of the Year Award Special | Autoblog Podcast #758
Thu, Dec 1 2022This episode of the Autoblog Podcast features Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore, Road Test Editor Zac Palmer and Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski. The trio begin by discussing the 2022 Technology of the Year award. Ford's Onboard Scales and Smart Hitch hauling/towing tech as tested in the F-150 Lightning won this year. Why the Ford won, how testing went down and Ford's competition — including the GMC Hummer EV and Genesis GV60 — are discussed. After diving through the Technology of the Year award testing, the three take on this week's news. A mysterious vehicle based on the Corvette (that isn't a Corvette) is supposedly on its way. Audi is giving us "Performance" versions of the RS 6 Avant and RS 7 Sportback. Plus, we discuss a recent study that provides data for the 10 longest lasting vehicles on the road today. After the news, the crew dive into the cars they've been driving this week. Greg's been behind the wheel of a Nissan Pathfinder, while Jeremy and Zac have been driving some plug-in hybrids, including the Lexus NX 450h+ and Autoblog's long-term BMW 330e xDrive. Ford adding stop-start to all major model lines
Sun, 24 Nov 2013Ford has gone all-in on its efforts to offer most of its new vehicles with a fuel-efficient EcoBoost engine, but the automaker is reportedly preparing to take another big step toward improving vehicle efficiency. Automotive News is reporting that Ford will soon expand the availability of start-stop technology, which was first offered - presumably the first non-hybrid vehicle, that is - on the 2013 Fusion (equipped with the 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine) as a $295 option.
The benefit of start-stop is reduced fuel consumption as it shuts the engine off at long stops, and AN quotes Ford as saying that drivers can save more than $1,000 on fuel costs over five years. Despite this, the option hasn't been popular on the Fusion thus far, but it could be more beneficial on bigger vehicles like the F-150. Ford also said that the next-gen Edge, which was previewed in concept form at the LA Auto Show, will be equipped with auto start-stop to help make the EcoBoost engines even more efficient.
