(see picture) car runs and drives fine. brakes stop the car and the clutch works fine. key were lost, so it is hot wired under the hood to start. will need a lock and key set. electrical system will need to be checked out as gages, siginals, and other components need the key turned on to work. (I do not fool with electricity) interior is real nice. seats and door panels were redone, new carpet was installed, (non original) headliner is fine, rear package shelf is fine. the dash is beautiful. it is unmolested and has a clock and radio. after market radio and speakers added UNDER the dash. no holes cut. car has rare full length factory, one piece, vent shades, rocker panel mouldings, fender skirts, duel rear mounted antenna, and power steering, that works like a new car. plus other factory options. the car was stored wraped up in a heavy tarp. it could not breath, therefore it sweat. that is why the paint is coming off in large pieces. it was painted at the time of the do over. ( might not of been a good job?? ) you can blow the paint off with an air hose. there was rust in the front floor pans. it was fixed with sheet metal and sheet metal screws. amature work even 20 years ago. trunk floor has some rust. see pictures. frame and body mounts all appear to be fine. all glass is in good condition. no cracks, chips or foging. windows roll up and down fine. doors open and close fine. car could be a driver with a little work or a great resto. project on a rare body style. comes with a set of 4 NOS red seat belts and a 1961 shop manual. car is sold as is where is with no implied or given warrenty. you are welcome and incouraged to come or send your reprosentive to inspect the car before bidding. ask questions BEFORE BIDDING. you can call with questions. (919) 622 0815 winning bidder is buying the car, not a chance to come and look and make an offer. this car is 53 years old and is not represented as anything but a restorable car . car is for sale locally, therefore the auction could be ended at any time. a $500.00(non refundable) deposit is required within 24 hours. this is a NO RESERVE auction. so bid to win.delivery is possiable, time permitting, at #2.00 a mile several people have asked about the front brake line and gas line. the front brake line crosses under the front crossmember.( under the radiator) and the fuel line from the tank to the fuel pump is 3/8 in diam. Pickup prices rising at 2x industry average
Tue, 11 Jun 2013We've said it before, but bears repeating: Pickup trucks are the financial engines of America's automakers. Good thing, then, that the segment is in rude health - in fact, Automotive News is suggesting that pickup truck sales are arguably healthier than they were pre-recession, even though the segment's volume is still significantly down from where it was before the bottom fell out of the US economy. That's because per-unit profits on full-size trucks are skyrocketing, outpacing the industry's average price increases by more than double since 2005. According to data from Edmunds, the average transaction price of a full-size pickup is now $39,915 - a heady increase over the $31,059 average price in 2005 - a gain of over 8 percent after inflation is factored in.
Just how important are trucks to automakers' bottom lines? Automotive News quotes a Morgan Stanley analyst as saying the Ford F-Series is responsible for 90 percent of the company's 2012 profits, and General Motors isn't far behind, with the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra twins chipping in about two-thirds of the automaker's earnings.
Automotive News points out that Detroit's automakers now have the money to invest in modernizing their full-size truck offerings, in part because they don't have the same overhead and legacy costs that pushed General Motors and Chrysler into bankruptcy. Certainly, the pickup segment has seen a lot of innovations as of late, including turbocharged V6s, coil-spring rear suspensions and active aero. Those improvements in important areas like fuel economy and ride comfort have given existing pickup buyers new reasons to upgrade. In addition, automakers are piling on the tech and luxury goodies, creating more and more high-content, high-profit models like the Ford F-150 King Ranch, Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn and Chevrolet Silverado High Country (shown).
Focus STs for SEMA include Lotus and Gulf liveries, rally-fied police car
Tue, 22 Oct 2013Ford, as we mentioned on Saturday, is pulling out all the stops for November's SEMA show, bringing 57 vehicles to the Las Vegas event. Ford will be staggering the release of its SEMA flotilla, though, so expect to hear a lot about the new additions to the fleet in the weeks to come. We already showed you the Fiesta, Fiesta ST and Mustang models that made up the first batch of SEMA cars. Next up, we have a quartet of modded Focus STs joining Ford's SEMA roster.
Our first Focus ST (pictured above) sports the legendary livery of Gulf Racing. The orange-on-blue scheme, which Ford helped make famous at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, has been updated for 2013, with a more vibrant blue. This ST was built by Universal Technical Institute, while the exterior was done by Neil Tjin of Tjin Edition. Side exhausts, a Vortech supercharger and a Motiv Concepts high-flow cat allow the ST to breathe a bit easier, while Forgestar wheels contrast well with the iconic paint scheme.
Focus ST number two has been done-up by PM Lifestyle and is inspired by "Southern California car culture." Sporting a sleek, pale blue paint job, there's also no shortage of carbon fiber on the car's exterior. The 2.0-liter, turbocharged, four-cylinder engine has been massaged by the likes of Banks Power, COBB Tuning and Ford Racing, while the suspension is wearing a shiny, new set of coilovers and sway bars. The meaty brakes, tucked behind 19-inch, Rotiform wheels, come from Wilwood, while the cabin has been fitted with a pair of Sparco Chrono seats and five-point, Schroth harnesses.
eBay Find of the Day: 1987 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe is showroom fresh
Tue, 27 Aug 2013There's an ultra-rare Ford Thunderbird for sale on eBay, although it's not quite the T-Bird you're probably thinking. This is a 1987 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe, complete with a five-speed manual transmission and just a shade over 13,000 miles on the clock. The condition is said to be mint, and judging by the interior and exterior pictures, we're inclined to believe the seller. The paint is glossy and the interior looks showroom new, while the underbody is stunningly clean for a 36-year-old car.
Underhood sits a 2.3-liter, intercooled and turbocharged four-cylinder (also found in the Mustang SVO) that was producing 190 horsepower when it left the factory. Inside, the five-speed manual transmission adds to the car's rarity. The vehicle's sole owner has been as immaculate with the paperwork as he has with the rest of the car - it's all there, including brochures and other product material.
The eBay auction ends tomorrow at midnight (9:00 PM if you're on America's west coast). Bidding has reached $10,200, and there's still plenty of time to get in on this future classic. The vehicle is located in Millstone Township, NJ.
