1961 Ford Country Sedan - Hot Rod Wagon For Family Fun! - Add Luggage And Go! on 2040-cars
Indianapolis, Indiana, United States
Never thought I would let this one go but I have a chance to buy a piece of real estate that I have been watching. This is a great car. It always gets a ton of attention and often steals the show. The car is real and the miles are real. The car has lead a charmed life and loved by all the previous caretakers. This car is a real sweetheart. Very easy to own. The engine and transmission have already been restored. Not just rebuilt, but actually restored with all the correct finishes, tags, lines, etc. The engine is a 292 Y block with a Thunderbird four barrel intake and valve covers. I also have a restored Offenhauser triple deuce set up that could go with if interested.
It runs perfectly and is super smooth. No smoke, no drips, no over heating, no issues. Fires instantly even after sitting. Drops into an easy idle. Transmission has been completely restored also and works as designed. No surprises. Fly in and drive it anywhere without concern. The interior is all stock and close to perfect. The seats are smooth and firm. The foam is not bagged out or saggy. The vinyl is soft and supple. It has the optional padded dash which has some small cracks. It also has the expensive padded visors which are perfect. The headliner is awesome and does not droop like most you see. The car still wears the original rubber floor mat it was delivered with and I also have a brand new ACC red carpet kit and new red windlace if you care to install it. Never out of the box. It has a new heater core and windshield along with windshield gasket. All other glass is factory and looks great. All the windows go up and down with ease including the electric rear tail gate glass. It works from a switch on the dash or with a key outside the tail gate. All the gauges and switches work perfectly. No excuses. Paint is all original also. I would never consider repainting it because the patina is so even. It would be virtually impossible to duplicate the finish that mother nature has given this car. It is totally flat with a west coast sunburn which has faded it just right. All original floorboards, body and chassis are virtually rust free with the exception of the passengers side rear door and the tail gate which both have very MINOR issues. The passenger door got creased at some point and I'm assuming it contributed to the very minor rust, but I have a rust free door bottom to make the repair. It goes with the deal and will replace the door from the moulding down. If you use it, you will need to match the paint, but it is low and should be easy to disguise. The tail gate is the worst part of the car and was loaded with pine needles when I got it. That hurt it. The base of the tail gate is solid and strong, but needs some attention. It does not affect the operation, but should be arrested if you are planning on getting this car wet. Remember this is a 53 year old car and does have signs of use. It shows honestly. The defects give it character and in my opinion make it harder to find than a restored car. You all know the drill "They are only original once, but can be restored perpetually" Car has power steering that works great. One finger to drive it! It has working AM radio that only plays songs from 1961. (not really). Car is sold with the factory 14 x 6 wide steel rims with NOS dog dish hub caps and brand new Coker bias plys (shown in pictures). The wheels and tires shown on the car are available to the high bidder for an additional $1500. I have clear Indiana title in hand. Delivery to NSRA Nationals in Louisville can be negotiated. Please ask any questions prior to bidding. Check my feedback and bid with confidence. Overseas buyers encouraged to bid. I have experience shipping cars to Europe and can assist with delivery to port. On Jul-22-14 at 17:05:36 PDT, seller added the following information: |

2015 Ford Mustang gets pricing, configurator and less weight than expected
Fri, 13 Jun 2014It's here; it's finally here. No more speculating or looking at dealer order guides, the configurator for the 2015 Ford Mustang is finally online. That means you should put down whatever you're doing and build your new 'Stang. Weight data for the new model has also leaked out, and while there is an increase, it's less than previously rumored.
The basic V6 coupe carries a base price of $23,600, plus an additional $825 destination charge for all models. Upgrading to the 2.3-liter Ecoboost costs $25,170, and the Ecoboost Premium is $29,170. If you need a V8 in your life, the Mustang GT is $32,100 or $36,100 with the Premium package. That puts the starting price up about $1,000 over the previous generation for the V6, but the turbocharged four-cylinder starts about $1,400 less than the V6 Premium, which is no longer available. Prices for both V8 models jumped about $1,000, as well.
If you need the convertible Mustang, the V6 starts at $29,100, excluding destination, $1,590 more than last year. The Ecoboost Premium 'vert is $34,670, and the GT droptop is $41,600.
Bring back the Bronco! Trademarks we hope are actually (someday) future car names
Tue, Mar 17 2015Trademark filings are the tea leaves of the auto industry. Read them carefully – and interpret them correctly – and you might be previewing an automaker's future product plans. Yes, they're routinely filed to maintain the rights to an iconic name. And sometimes they're only for toys and clothing. But not always. Sometimes, the truth is right in front of us. The trademark is required because a company actually wants to use the name on a new car. With that in mind, here's a list of intriguing trademark filings we want to see go from paperwork to production reality. Trademark: Bronco Company: Ford Previous Use: The Bronco was a long-running SUV that lived from 1966-1996. It's one of America's original SUVs and was responsible for the increased popularity of the segment. Still, it's best known as O.J. Simpson's would-be getaway car. We think: The Bronco was an icon. Everyone seems to want a Wrangler-fighter – Ford used to have a good one. Enough time has passed that the O.J. police chase isn't the immediate image conjured by the Bronco anymore. Even if we're doing a wish list in no particular order, the Bronco still finds its way to the top. For now (unfortunately), it's just federal paperwork. Rumors on this one can get especially heated. The official word from a Ford spokesman is: "Companies renew trademark filings to maintain ownership and control of the mark, even if it is not currently used. Ford values the iconic Bronco name and history." Trademarks: Aviator, AV8R Company: Ford Previous Use: The Aviator was one of the shortest-run Lincolns ever, lasting for the 2003-2005 model years. It never found the sales success of the Ford Explorer, with which it shared a platform. We Think: The Aviator name no longer fits with Lincoln's naming nomenclature. Too bad, it's better than any other name Lincoln currently uses, save for its former big brother, the Navigator. Perhaps we're barking up the wrong tree, though. Ford has made several customized, aviation themed-Mustangs in the past, including one called the Mustang AV8R in 2008, which had cues from the US Air Force's F-22 Raptor fighter jet. It sold for $500,000 at auction, and the glass roof – which is reminiscent of a fighter jet cockpit – helped Ford popularize the feature. Trademark: EcoBeast Company: Ford Previous Use: None by major carmakers.
11 vehicles from Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas worth watching
Fri, 26 Sep 2014This weekend will see the world's collector car crowds descend on Las Vegas, NV for one of the biggest shows on Barrett-Jackson's popular auction circuit. There are hundreds of vehicles up for bidding, ranging from a brand-new Lamborghini Aventador to a spattering of Art Deco classics and a huge swath of classic muscle cars.
While it's virtually impossible to assemble an inarguable list of the best cars coming during the three-day, 700-plus vehicle auction, we've sifted through the listings for this year's show - it was a tough assignment, we promise - and assembled a list of what we think will be some of the most interesting lots. We'll admit, it's a bit heavy on American iron, but if you browse BJ's listings, you'll come to a similar conclusion. Still, scroll down for our list of what we think will be the most interesting vehicles at the upcoming auction.
