  • Cruise-O-Matic transmission (original)
  • Wimbleton white with original blue interior.
  • 352 CID/4bbl (original engine)
  • 3:11 diff. w/31 spline axels

Truly as rust free as I've ever, a northern Colorado car. Absolutely complete! Rockers, floors and trunk are solid. Body is straight. You will have to look very hard to find another Skyliner as rust free as this. All trim is complete. Top works fine but needs usual adjustments. I have installed a 10 position switch in the door jamb where it is hidden to operate any top solenoid individually.

It has the rare factory optional "Flying Ellipse" hood ornament. It also has optional reverse lights, "day/nite" mirror, traffic light viewer, seat belts front/rear, rocker panel trim, stainless steel skirts and a trailer hitch with a flat 4 connector. Original interior except carpet has been replaced. Everything works except the clock (as usual)! It does include the hard to find "picnic basket" for the trunk and the correct wooden cover for the spare tire (sorry, no spare wheel).

This car is a fine example to drive as it is or it's completeness and condition lends itself to be the perfect example to give a complete restoration.

One picture clearly shows all gages showing good oil pressure, proper charging, full correct temp at idle. This shows the health of the engine as much as I can in a photo. I drive this car on a regular basis.

It does have hand controls installed. They will be removed (take me 10 minutes) if you do not need them. If you require hand controls I will leave them installed at no extra cost.

The things that need attention because I think you would want to know; The diff has a chipped tooth so it whines, easy fix with a new 3rd member. The top stops halfway down due to a broken wire which is also a common problem and an easy fix. The 10 position switch insures the top will always fully retract or raise even with the broken wire.

NOTE:
The rear bumper guards, hand controls and under dash record player shown in the photos are not included! (I may include them if you are a serious buyer) If you need hand controls, I will include them with the car at no charge. There is also no spare wheel or jack. I couldn't find the correct one. But it does include several spare parts and some new extras too.

  • Brakes
  • Shocks (x4)
  • 3 core radiator
  • High volume water pump
  • Belts/cables/hoses

Ken Block hoons his Ford F-150 RaptorTrax on the slopes

Wed, 08 Oct 2014

Ken Block drives Fords. Hoons the heck out of 'em, actually. Mostly Fiestas, but also the occasional Focus or Mustang. But earlier this year, the Gymkhana guru revealed his baddest Ford yet: an F-150 SVT Raptor on tracks. And true to form, here he is putting it to the test in the latest video from Monster Energy and Hoonigan Racing.
Filmed at Baldface Lodge in Nelson, BC, the video pairs Block up with snowboarders Zak Hale and Ethan Deiss for some deep-powder action. You'll want to watch the video for yourself, but the bottom line is that the RaptorTrax beats the heck out of waiting on line for the ski lift. It's enough to make us start to look forward to winter... almost.

Ford Recalling 70k Escape and Mariner Hybrids for cooling issue

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Ford is recalling about 70,209 examples of the 2005-2008 Ford Escape Hybrid and the 2006-2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid because the cooling pumps for their hybrid systems could fail.
According to the company's defect notice, it's possible for the original "Motor Electronics Coolant (MEC) Pump" to wear out and fail, which would could cause the hybrid system to overheat. If this happens, the vehicle goes into a safety mode that takes away most or all of its power. However, braking and steering still operate normally. After cooling down, the affected models restart normally. The company says that it's not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this problem.
Ford will begin repairing the vehicles in late October, and dealers will be installing improved, brushless pumps on the affected models at no charge to owners. If drivers had their pumps fail before this recall, they can contact Ford for a possible reimbursement. Scroll down to read the recall announcement from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or download the full defect notice as a PDF, here.

Junkyard Gem: 1993 Mercury Topaz GS Sedan

Sat, Aug 13 2022

As long as the Mercury brand existed — a period spanning the 1939 through 2011 model years — nearly every Mercury sold in the United States was more or less a redecorated Ford model. The Torino had its Montego sibling, the Crown Victoria had the Grand Marquis, the Cougar was based on everything from the Mustang to the Mondeo, and so on. Naturally, when the folks in Dearborn developed the Ford Tempo compact, a Mercury version had to be created. This was the Topaz, with the official launch of both cars taking place on the deck of the aircraft carrier often referred to as the USS Decrepit. You can't make this stuff up! The Tempo/Topaz, also known as the Tempaz, has largely faded from our collective automotive memory by now, since it broke no significant new engineering or styling ground (this story would be much different if Ford had only put the amazing straight-eight "T-Drive" Tempaz powertrain into production) and didn't have any endearing features other than being a cheap domestic competitor to the Toyota Corolla and Nissan Sentra. Still, close to 3 million Tempazes left North American Ford and Lincoln-Mercury showrooms during the 1984-1994 period. As you'd expect, most of these disposable cars disappeared from both the street and the car graveyard long ago. It takes a very special Tempaz for me to break out my camera while I'm patrolling my local wrecking yards; generally, this means an ultra-rare all-wheel-drive version or at least a very early model in super-clean condition. Today's Junkyard Gem is neither, but I took one look at this spectacular Bordello Red crypto-velour-and-slippery-plastic interior and recognized that this was no ordinary junkyard Mercury. It appears that Mercury had dropped the idea of clever names for base-grade seat fabrics by the time of the Topaz, referring to this stuff as just "cloth" in all the brochures I could find. That's too bad, because Mercurys had cool names for upholstery (e.g., Chromatex) in the old days. The interior is in very good condition but the steering wheel shows substantial wear, so I think this is a high-mile Topaz that got meticulous care from its owner or owners. Ford used five-digit odometers on these cars until the end of production, however, so we'll never know if this reading indicates 65,404 miles or 365,404 miles. The body is very straight, but there's some nasty corrosion behind the right front wheelwell.
