This is a lovingly maintained Ford Custom 300. Over the last two years I have had the car repainted, installed new custom wheels and tires, refreshed all brake components, installed new aluminum radiator and custom radiator support painted to match car body, installed a new electric thermostatically controlled cooling fan, relocated battery box to the trunk, installed custom front springs (25% increase in load, dropped 1"), installed rear air shocks to provide slight forward rack, installed new exhaust that includes stainless steel tips, undercoated entire bottom of car, installed new seat covers and carpets, removed and repainted interior trim to match body, installed new window lacing and gaskets on doors, installed custom door panels that incorporate the body colors with a bit of stainless steel. This car runs and drives great. It is not a daily driver but gets a reasonable amount of street time in the evenings and weekends. This one is a pleasure to drive and gets a ton of looks as it has the look, stance and sound of an old Hot Rod. The overdrive transmission in conjunction with the big gears provides great acceleration with very good highway manners.

I am selling this one as is where is with no warranties expressed or implied simply because of the nature of an antique. Feel free to ask any question I am willing to send pictures of anything you wish to see prior to bidding. Please don't bid if you are not serious about buying this car since I would hate to see someone miss out on a great deal on a great car.

As US exports top 2 million, is America becoming the world's source of cheap cars?

Mon, Feb 9 2015

North American auto production is booming with 2014 figures just shy of the of the 17.3-million vehicle record set in 2000. With more models being built on the continent, even more are being shipped overseas. Factories in the US exported 2.1 million cars last year – the highest number ever. About half of those went to Canada and Mexico, but more than ever have been heading to places like the Middle East and China. The upswing comes in part from from after-effects from the Great Recession, according to The Wall Street Journal. With a weak dollar and lower production costs after the financial crisis, building vehicles in the US was relatively cheaper and more competitive in the world. At the same time buyers around the world are going crazy for crossovers. According to the WSJ, BMW and Mercedes-Benz are already exporting the majority of their US production of these models overseas. Both automakers have also announced investments to expand production further here to send more vehicles abroad. Even Honda has been shipping more models out of the country than it imported here. There is a concern this international strength could start slowing because the dollar is strengthening against other currencies, though it's too early to know what the actual effect of this could be, according to the WSJ. "Of course, we closely watch currency exchange, but we don't make changes in production or allocation based on temporary fluctuations in the exchange rate," Ford North American boss Joe Hinrichs told the newspaper. 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Mon, 01 Apr 2013

Your Mileage May Vary
As difficult as it is to write this, I was actually excited about the 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid. With the beautiful looks of the newest midsize fighter from Ford and a fuel economy estimate capable of shaming even the stalwart Camry Hybrid, the battery-augmented four-door seemed like a recipe for unabashed success. But appearances love nothing more than swapping our boundless enthusiasm for cold platters of disappointment. The 2013 Fusion Hybrid gets hobbled right out of the gate with a lofty price tag, and real-world driving keeps the sedan from even approaching those EPA figures.
With so many excellent midsize hybrids on the market, is there any reason to consider the newest Fusion Hybrid? Are sharp aesthetics, a well-executed interior and capable driving dynamics enough to overcome the machine's shortfalls? Not from where I'm standing.

Detroit automakers gain market share simultaneously for first time in 20 years

Wed, 01 May 2013

While monthly sales figures might be an easy way of tracking the progression of the auto industry and individual automakers, looking at market share might be more indicative of how each company is actually standing up against its competitors. For the Detroit Three automakers, they have collectively lost almost 30 percent of the market over the last 20 years, but now, for the first time since 1993, Ford, General Motors and Chrysler have each posted market share gains at the same time.
According to Automotive News, Ford's share increased the most by 0.7 percent, GM was up 0.5 percent and Chrysler rose marginally by 0.2 percent, giving the Detroit automakers a total market share of 45.6 percent. As for the Japan's Big Three, the article reports that Toyota is up by 0.7 percent, Nissan is down the same amount and Honda has seen "little change."
