2011 Ford Fusion Sel Sedan 4-door 2.5l on 2040-cars
Fairfax, Virginia, United States
Up for sale is my girlfriend's 2011 Ford Fusion SEL. She purchased this car new after very carefully researching what car she wanted to replace her older Honda Accord. She decided on a loaded Ford Fusion with as many options as possible, BUT with the 4-cylinder engine for best fuel economy. She also wanted the best exterior and interior color. When she finally selected the car, she chose this 2011 Ford Fusion SEL in a beautiful metallic Steel Blue with black leather interior. I believe that the car has all options available for that model year, including premium Sony sound system, Sync, heated seats, sunroof, remote start, heavy-duty floor mats, and back-up camera, except that it doesn't have NAV. (Audio directions are available through the Sync System paired with a bluetooth-equipped cell phone.)
The car has 25,805 miles and is still covered by the Ford warranty. It has had all required maintenance at the proper intervals, including regular oil changes, at the Ford Dealership. The car has been garaged and is in immaculate condition - it doesn't have even one door ding. It runs and drives perfectly, and all systems work perfectly. It truly is in mint condition both inside and out. The car gets great gas mileage, especially on the highway, and is smooth and quiet with a great stereo system, and performs well with the 170 horsepower 4-cylinder engine, which is a lot more horsepower than the 4-cylinder Honda Accord that it replaced. Options include : RAPID SPEC 402A COMFORT PACKAGE HEATED FRONT LEATHER SEATS AMBIENT LIGHTING DUAL ZONE AC AND HEAT DRIVERS VISION GROUP BLIND SPOT DETECTION WITH CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT REAR VIEW VIDEO CAMERA RAIN SENSING WIPERS POWER MOONROOF SONY SOUND SYSTEM WITH 12 SPEAKERS REVERSE SENSING SYSTEM OTHER OPTIONS: REMOTE START HEAVY DUTY FLOOR MATS The car has never been in an accident of any kind. It comes with the original window sticker and all paperwork, remotes, keys, etc as originally sold by the dealer. So if the car is so great, why is she selling it? We bought an older, high-mileage SUV as a third car, but she has fallen in love with it, and she says she doesn't need two vehicles. She holds a clear title to the car, no liens. If you are not a local buyer, we live near Washington Dulles airport, and could pick you up at the airport should you choose to fly in. Terms of sale are $500 Paypal deposit within 24 hours of auction end. Balance in cash, certified check, or wire transfer within 7 days of auction end. No Paypal for the balance please as the transaction fee would just be too painful. If you need to have the car shipped, including internationally, I would assist with that, but buyer would be responsible for paying for the car and shipping prior to shipment. I have both bought and sold cars on eBay before. I have been an eBay member for 16 years. I am an honest, trustworthy, experienced, professional, and courteous operator. If you choose to purchase this car you will be receiving a car that is exactly as represented, no surprises whatsoever. Check my feedback and buy with confidence! |

Junkyard Gem: 1991 Mercury Grand Marquis LS
Sat, Jan 21 2023Ford's now-defunct Mercury Division first began using the Marquis name in 1967, on a sporty full-size hardtop based on the Ford LTD, then began offering the Grand Marquis beginning in the 1979 model year. These big, boxy luxury sedans were replaced by big, curvy luxury sedans (on the same platform) starting with the 1992 model year, so today's Junkyard Gem is one of the very last squared-off Grand Marquises ever built. The 1991 Grand Marquis (or "Grandma Keith," as many refer to it today) looks nearly identical to its 1979 predecessor at a glance, just as the 2011 model doesn't differ much from the 1992 model. Ford saw no reason to follow short-lived fashion trends with its simple, sturdy rear-wheel-drive sedan. Only two Grand Marquis trim levels were available for 1991: the base GS and the (somewhat) upscale LS. The former listed at $18,741 and the latter at $19,241, which comes to about $41,494 and $42,601, respectively, in inflated 2022 dollars). This interior would have seemed comfortingly familiar to a 1968 (or even 1958) Mercury owner time-traveling to 1991. This is the optional "full grain leather seating surface," which cost an extra $489 (about $1,083 today). Dig those opera lights! Air conditioning was standard equipment in the 1991 Grand Marquis and its wagon counterpart, the Colony Park. The engine is the good old pushrod 5.0-liter Windsor V8, which would be replaced by a far more modern 4.6-liter SOHC mill in the '92 Grand Marquis. This engine was rated at 180 horsepower. A four-speed automatic was the only transmission available. The early 1990s ended up being the last gasp for padded vinyl roofs being considered mainstream equipment on new Detroit cars; this one was called the "Formal Coach" roof and cost an additional 725 bucks ($1,605 now). Such roofs were still available on a few cars later in the decade, but their time had passed. Why would such a clean Grandma Keith end up in a place like this? That's easy: it got T-boned directly into the right front wheel, mangling the body and bending up the suspension. This damage might have been worth fixing when the car was five years old, but it's a write-off when it happens to a 31-year-old Ford Panther. 1991 Mercury Grand Marquis Commercial - Savings Ad The granddaddy of them all, and on sale in South Texas! America was the unexpected theme at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show thanks to Trump
Wed, Jan 11 2017President-elect Donald Trump was not in attendance at this year's Detroit Auto Show, but it sure seemed like he was the target audience for many of the press conferences and announcements surrounding the event. Several manufacturers chose to play up existing and future commitments to the US in general and American jobs specifically in their presentations to the press, and we're pretty sure that has everything to do with Trump's recent targeting of automakers on Twitter. To us, it seemed automakers were going on the offensive to try and preempt any future tweet-shaming for investing in auto manufacturing anywhere but the US. The pro-America sentiment started the week prior to the auto show, with Ford announcing that it would build several future electrified vehicles at its Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan and also cancel a $1.6 billion factory planned for Mexico. Ford announced the two items on the same day, but the reality is that they likely have no relation to each other; the Mexican plant is being skipped because the company doesn't need the extra capacity to build the Ford Focus right now. Trump was still happy to share the news on Twitter. Then, on Sunday, FCA announced it would invest $1 billion in manufacturing plants in Ohio and Michigan to produce the new Jeep Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer, and Wrangler-based pickup. It's not as though those potential new jobs were on their way out of the US, necessarily, but FCA took the opportunity to mention that plant upgrades at the Warren Truck Plant would allow the company to build Ram heavy duty trucks, which are currently assembled in Mexico, there. CEO Sergio Marchionne confirmed that Trump and his proposed tariffs had nothing to do with the decision. We certainly believe that, but we also have to believe that the timing of the release, positive outcome for America, and zero gain for Mexico were all orchestrated. Again, Trump sent out a victory tweet as if this had been his doing. Ford then used its press conference at the show on Monday to reiterate the plans for Flat Rock and also confirm that the Ford Bronco and Ranger nameplates will be returning to the US market, and that both will be built at a plant in Michigan. Announcements of manufacturing locations are usually aimed at the UAW, which certainly has a stake in these things, but again this one was broadcast to the auto show crowd in general.
Ford Fusion production scaled back just 3 months after it was accelerated
Mon, 02 Dec 2013Three months after kicking off production of the Ford Fusion at its Flat Rock, MI factory, Ford Motor Company is taking steps to trim output in the face of heavily discounted competition from Toyota and a growing supply of vehicles.
The addition of Fusion production in Flat Rock - which also builds the Mustang - was meant to be what pushed the handsome mid-sizer past its arch-nemesis, the Toyota Camry. An extra facility building Fusions was also meant to curb the growing demand for Ford's highly profitable sedan.
But with word that Flat Rock would take "approximately" one extra week off for the holidays combined with an 88-day supply of Fusions - reportedly due in no small part to what Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas called "aggressive discounting of the Camry" - some analysts are now beginning to wonder if Ford may have overextended itself by adding a second Fusion facility to the mix.
