As part of liquidating my father's estate, I am selling his Ford Fusion SE 2010 (low mileage.) In the summer of 2010, I was present at the Ford dealership at the time of its purchase. Through the car's life, it has been kept in the garage of his retirement home. I still can detect a new-car smell, amazingly so. The majority of the miles put on it were of interstate travel. During the weekend, he would often drive to my sister's 45 miles away. (Also, the car has never experienced a puff of cigarette smoke.) Condition--Oh, so nice! Yesterday (Monday, November 4) I had the oil changed (top grade synthetic.) The fellow there commented that my father's car hasn't even been broken-in. Uh, yep. I think the term might be "clean," to say the least, if not immaculate. There were some scratches on the side which were in one localized area. I had them buffed out and left them barely noticeable. The rear bumper also had some minor scratches in a small area which I have had professionally painted. I'm selling my father's car with deep regret, but I, myself, own a Ford Fusion 2012. Surprisingly, I like my father's Fusion better than mine. First, it has the bigger engine which makes all the difference. It also seems more solid--it hugs the road better. And it takes the bumps in the road better. Who knows why? Nevertheless, I love how these Fusions handle. They are amazing cars with great styling. If you haven't seen this particular color, SMOKESTONE METALLIC, it has an awesome look. It is elegant and understated, but it's also kind of exciting and sporty. It's mostly silver in appearance but when the light hits it just right there is a classy looking ginger color to it as well. I'm starting out the auction at what I consider a low price with no reserve. I'm a serious seller here, and I don't want to waste anyone's time (my own included.) The following is a list of the car's equipment that I got from the dealership. 4-WHL Disc Brakes @/ABS Power Steering Power Points (2) Tilt/Telescope Wheel Traction Control Interior-- 6-WAY Pwr Drv. Ford Focus was best-selling nameplate in 2012
Tue, 09 Apr 2013Last August, Ford made a few waves by claiming that the Ford Focus was, at that point, the top-selling car in the world. The automaker failed to account for variations of the Toyota Corolla wearing a different name (such as the Auris and Matrix), however. With official data from Polk coming in now, Ford is able to say that the Focus was, in fact, the best-selling nameplate in the world last year.
Using new-car registrations (which doesn't factor in fleet sales), the Polk data shows that a total of more than one million Focus models around the world. Strong sales in the US and China have led to a 16 percent increase in year-over-year Focus sales from 2011 that helped to create even more of a gap between it and the second-best global seller, the Corolla.
Ford also had the Fiesta and F-Series listed in the top 10 for worldwide nameplates, but what's even more impressive is the fact that the F-Series is only sold in North America. Scroll down to see the list (compiled by Ford using Polk data) of the top global sellers last year and a press release from Ford.
Ford F-150 RaptorTrax is Ken Block's ultimate snowmobile
Tue, 21 Jan 2014Even when Ken Block isn't starring in the latest Gymkhana video or tearing up Global RallyCross courses, he's finding new ways to redefine "awesome" as it applies to motorsports. For evidence of this, look no further than Block's latest Monster-badged creation, the Ford F-150 RaptorTrax.
Billed as the "world's fastest snowcat," the RaptorTrax started life as a Ford F-150 SVT Raptor, and then a set of Mattracks were put in place where the truck's bead-locked wheels and meaty rubber once resided. The goal was to create a truck that made it easier - and presumably more fun - for Block and his buddies to hit the slopes on their snowboards. Aside from the obvious track upgrades, this truck also received a Whipple supercharger, full roll cage, Recaro seats, an in-bed snowboard rack, a roof basket and a rear-mounted winch - you know, just in case something or someone actually manages to get this truck stuck.
The RaptorTrax will be on display later this week at the Winter X Games in Apsen, CO, but we'll have to wait until next winter for a full Block-worthy video of the truck. A full press release from Hoonigan Racing Division is posted below, and a high-res image can be found by clicking above.
Even Ford executives had issues with MyFord Touch
Fri, Oct 7 2016MyFord Touch is one of the auto industry's more controversial features. The media broadly panned the infotainment system developed with Microsoft for its slow responses and reliance on voice commands to navigate its deep menus. Oh, and Ford executives weren't big fans, either. Newly revealed court documents in a California class-action lawsuit demonstrate the level of venom Ford employees, both big and small, reserved for the Blue Oval's infotainment system. An error caused Bill Ford's navigation system to crash, leaving the family scion stuck on the side of the road in an unfamiliar area. The documents, unearthed by Forbes, detail current CEO Mark Fields' aggravations with MFT, too. A mechanic emailed an image of a cracked infotainment screen on an Edge to one of Ford's top Sync engineers, Kenneth Williams, suggesting "Mark Fields may have been a little aggravated with the system." But Ford and Fields' issues are nothing compared to the woes of the engineers that had to work on MFT. In a collection of emails obtained by Forbes, one engineer called the system "a polished turd," while another simply said, "These poor customers." And after one engineer suggested using a photo of Ford's Oakville Assembly Plant – home of the Edge, Flex, Lincoln MKX, and MKT production – as a background for the system, one of his coworkers said in an email that someone should instead Photoshop the image to read "abandon hope all ye who enter here," the Detroit News reports. Another summed up the problem, saying: "Ford's quality reputation is completely on the line ... another model year with the same crap is not acceptable." MyFord Touch almost single-handedly torpedoed Ford's reputation in widely reported quality metrics, including JD Power and Consumer Reports. Ford responded with a refreshed Sync3, a wildly improved rethink of its infotainment system that is far more responsive and easier to live with every day.
