2005 Ford Freestar SE edition. Dark gray exterior with 2-tone gray cloth interior. This one-owner van is in EXCELLENT condition, the body has never been hit, is a lifelong Georgia vehicle so it has no rust, and other than a few VERY minor scratches and door dings is in GREAT condition. The interior is light gray/dark gray and looks nearly new. The seats are in great condition, van is super clean, and has 2nd row folding bucket seats and 3rd row folding bench seat. Plus it has front & rear air conditioning. Mechanically the 3.9L engine runs great, does not make any funny noises, and burns no oil. It originally belonged to a Pharmaceutical rep who drove the van from when it was brand new until the lease expired. At that point he purchased the vehicle from his company for himself. So even though the title shows 2 owners, in reality it was driven its entire life by a single person. Plus it has been maintained its whole life by a Ford dealer. The following is a list of parts recently replaced/rebuilt:

  • Fully rebuilt transmission w/new torque converter

  • New A/C compressor, manifold hose assembly, & accumulator

  • New fuel pump, filter, & regulator

  • New front Monroe Sensa-Trac front struts

  • New rear Monroe Sensa-Trac rear shocks

  • New front inner & outer tie-rod ends

  • New left & right CV axles

  • New front hub bearings

  • New ECM

  • New ignition coil

Would a Mustang-based Lincoln look like this?

    Mon, 07 Jan 2013

Designer Josiah LaCalla has taken a stab at what a Ford Mustang-based Lincoln model might look like with the Continental Mark X1 concept. Make no mistake, Ford's luxury arm has made it abundantly clear that it won't be pursuing any new products outside of volume models, which means a flashy halo grand tourer like the one you see here isn't in the cards. LaColla used the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG as a basis for his creation, which explains the long nose, but we certainly don't mind the idea of a rear-wheel drive Lincoln with a cabin pushed to the aft.
While we're dreaming, there's certainly nothing stopping us from imagining what's under that lengthy hood. We like the idea of the 5.8-liter supercharged V8 from the Shelby GT500 pushing the Mark X1 down the road, but how about something a little more inventive? Something like a high-revving, buttery V12 with enough torque to push the contraption well past 200 miles per hour. Dream a little dream, people.

2014 Ford Fusion to get 1.5L EcoBoost three-cylinder?

    Tue, 09 Apr 2013

Just one year after launching the all-new 2013 Fusion, Ford is reportedly set to alter the sedan's powertrain lineup with the addition of a new 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder EcoBoost engine. A member of Blue Oval Forums apparently got their hands on the ordering guide for the 2014 model year Fusion, and this 1.5-liter mill is set to be introduced with late availability.
This lines up with other news about the Chinese-market Mondeo being offered with a new 1.5-liter EcoBoost - a derivative of the 1.0-liter triple that will come to North America under the hood of the Fiesta (note: the 1.0 is also offered in the current Euro-spec Mondeo). In the Chinese application, the larger three-pot engine produces 177 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque, which is very close to the current 1.6-liter inline-four's output numbers of 178 hp and 184 lb-ft.
What's interesting, however, is that the 1.6-liter engine will reportedly still be offered in the Fusion, but only with the six-speed manual transmission. The smaller 1.5-liter EcoBoost will only be mated to a six-speed SelectShift automatic, and will feature start/stop. This means that while the 1.5 is slightly down on power compared to the 1.6, it could easily improve fuel economy numbers, allowing the Fusion to regain the title of having the best mileage in the segment, likely besting the 38 miles per gallon of the Nissan Altima. Currently, the Fusion 1.6 is rated at 23 mpg city and 36 mpg highway.

Total auto recalls already on record pace in 2014

    Tue, 08 Apr 2014

If you've noticed that there have been more recalls than usual this year, you may be on to something. According to a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the US market is on pace to break a record for recalls. In 2013, 22 million cars were recalled. We're only a third of the way through 2014, though, and we've already halved that figure, with 11 million units recalled. That's wild.
Considering the past few months, it shouldn't be a surprise that General Motors is leading the charge, with six million of the 11 million units recalled coming from one of the General's four brands. Between truck recalls, CUV recalls and the ignition switch recall, 2014 hasn't been a great year for GM.
Other recall leaders include Nissan (one million Sentra and Altima sedans), Honda (900,000 Odyssey minivans), Toyota (over one million units in a few recalls), Volkswagen (150,000 Passat sedans), Chrysler (644,000 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs) and most recently, Ford (434,000 units, the bulk of which were early Ford Escape CUVs). So while it's been a bad year for GM so far, its competitors aren't doing too well, either.
