I am selling a very rare 2004 Ford SVT Focus ZX5, European Appearance Package (“EAP”), produced only in 2004 in the 4 door hatchback ("ZX5"). Only 408 were made (see below).

It is black with black leather interior, has 103k miles, all original paperwork including window sticker, bill of sale, and all service records.

A notebook full of service history comes with the car.

Interior is immaculate, almost like new. Carpets are clean and no rips or tears anywhere. Trunk looks like it the car just came from factory. Prior owner never smoked.

Exterior has normal wear and tear for car of its age, but very minor overall. There is mild curb rash on two wheels, but barely noticeable.

Special features:

   1.  Notebook full of all receipts and services, including original bill of sale, thank you letters from Ford, Window Sticker, etc.

   2.  Has both remote key fobs in as new condition. One fob has never even been used.

   3.  Engine bay is clean and perfect.

4   Interior is near mint. Even aluminum SVT doorsills are in great shape.

  5.  Spare tire has never been used. Compartment is same as new.

  6.  Headlight lenses are as new—no hazing or discoloration.

  7.  Almost new (95+% tread life) Continental DWS all season tires, which are my favorite tires for this car.

  8.  Condition of seats are perfect.  Passenger and rear seats appear as new.  Driver seat almost as new.

I purchased this car from the original owner, a physician who used it as his daily driver and kept meticulous records. It was always garaged--at home and at work.

At my local dealership in July, I spent $2477 (parts and labor) putting the car in top shape:

1.     Replaced spark plugs.

2.     Serviced fuel induction and throttle body.

3.     Replaced rear brake pads and calipers.

4.     Replaced timing belt and water pump valve.

5.     Replaced wiper relays.

The car has almost new (95+% tread life) Continental DWS all season tires, which are my favorite tires for this car.

For those of you not familiar with the European Appearance Package ("EAP"), it was available only in 2004 for the five door ZX5 model, and included heated black leather Recaro seats, audiophile audio system with 6 disc in-dash CD play, a 290 watt amplifier in the trunk, eight inch subwoofers, traction control, special 15 spoke argent wheels, power moon roof, and HID headlights.

Only 408 SVT ZX5's with EAP were made, and only in 2004, and 110 were black.  It is a rare, fantastic car.

Reason for selling:  I need to make space in my garage.  This is one of the nicest SVT ZX5 EAP's on the planet.

Car is located in Stanley, VA, 22851.

Thank you.

Even Ford executives had issues with MyFord Touch

Fri, Oct 7 2016

MyFord Touch is one of the auto industry's more controversial features. The media broadly panned the infotainment system developed with Microsoft for its slow responses and reliance on voice commands to navigate its deep menus. Oh, and Ford executives weren't big fans, either. Newly revealed court documents in a California class-action lawsuit demonstrate the level of venom Ford employees, both big and small, reserved for the Blue Oval's infotainment system. An error caused Bill Ford's navigation system to crash, leaving the family scion stuck on the side of the road in an unfamiliar area. The documents, unearthed by Forbes, detail current CEO Mark Fields' aggravations with MFT, too. A mechanic emailed an image of a cracked infotainment screen on an Edge to one of Ford's top Sync engineers, Kenneth Williams, suggesting "Mark Fields may have been a little aggravated with the system." But Ford and Fields' issues are nothing compared to the woes of the engineers that had to work on MFT. In a collection of emails obtained by Forbes, one engineer called the system "a polished turd," while another simply said, "These poor customers." And after one engineer suggested using a photo of Ford's Oakville Assembly Plant – home of the Edge, Flex, Lincoln MKX, and MKT production – as a background for the system, one of his coworkers said in an email that someone should instead Photoshop the image to read "abandon hope all ye who enter here," the Detroit News reports. Another summed up the problem, saying: "Ford's quality reputation is completely on the line ... another model year with the same crap is not acceptable." MyFord Touch almost single-handedly torpedoed Ford's reputation in widely reported quality metrics, including JD Power and Consumer Reports. Ford responded with a refreshed Sync3, a wildly improved rethink of its infotainment system that is far more responsive and easier to live with every day. Ford decides C-Max shoppers not interested in fuel economy

Sat, Oct 25 2014

If you say a car – the Ford C-Max Hybrid, for example – is "fun to drive," can anyone really come up with some empirical evidence against your claim? What about calling it "versatile"? We wonder if Ford has been thinking along these lines when it talks about the green little hatch. Ford is refocusing its sales strategy for the C-Max Hybrid after the model took a sales hit on both sides of the Atlantic recently, Automotive News reports. That sales dropoff may stem from the fact that Ford has had to revise its fuel-economy figures downward for the C-Max twice since last year, most recently in June. That made the company's once-proud fuel-economy comparisons with the Toyota Prius kind of pointless. Ford is going a different route, calling the model versatile (which, to be fair it was also doing a year ago), technologically advanced and fun to drive. Since the C-Max has about 50 more horsepower than the Prius, that last part may be true. Ford representatives didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from AutoblogGreen about the mpg-mention-free advertising direction, but we will update this post if we hear back. Sales of the C-Max Hybrid have suffered in the US. Through September, Ford sold 15,245 C-Max Hybrids, down 36 percent from last year. We shall see if a new focus away from the car's lowered mpg numbers helps. At least Ford can be pleased with sales of the C-Max Energi Plug-in Hybrid, which are up 51 percent compared to 2013.

Chris Harris checks out Ken Block's Hoonicorn '65 Mustang

Thu, Dec 4 2014

Ken Block's Hoonicorn, which stars in Gymkhana Seven, might still bear a passing resemblance to a vintage 1965 Ford Mustang, but underneath the skin, the car is one of the baddest custom machines to ever do a smoky burnout on the road. The ever enthusiastic British auto journalist Chris Harris is now showing what really makes Block's new ride tick on video, and Harris even gets to go for quite a ride. The only Mustang components really left on the Hoonicorn are the A-pillar, B-pillar and roof, according to Harris. Everything else is ditched to create Block's ultimate Gymkhana tool. The 845-horsepower, 6.7-liter Rousch Yates V8 sits behind the front axle, and the grunt is routed to all four wheels through a Sadev gearbox usually found on Dakar Rally vehicles. The whole drivetrain is packed with cool little touches; like that giant handbrake that also disconnects power from the front wheels when in use. The superlatives about the Hoonicorn could go on forever, but settle in and let a very excited Harris tell you about just some of them. He's like a kid in a candy store here, and the look that combines surprise, fear and joy during his ride with Block is the kind that lacks a suitable word in the English language.
