I am selling my 2002 Ford Focus SVT with 67,538 miles. I am the original owner of this car and I bought it when it first came out in 2002. The car is in good condition. I selling since I want an automatic car now. The car has a clean title and it has never been in any accidents. The car has original paint and it looks great for being 12 years old. I have more pictures available upon request.

If you don't know much about the Focus SVT, it has a 170hp engine and with a 6 Speed transmission. It has a sportier front and rear fascias and painted side mirrors, painted side trim and door handles. The interior has a sportier SVT Red cloth with black leather on the side of the seats. It has a sportier leather steering wheel and leather e-brake.

This Focus SVT has power windows, mirrors, power door locks, keyless entry, cruise control, 15% window tint, powered sliding sun roof, and cold A/C. Everything works on this Focus.

The Focus drives and runs great. I had a new Ford clutch installed, coolant flushed, timing belt checked in Feb, 2012. The break fluid was flushed last year. I had both rear wheel bearings changed this year. Spark plugs were replaced last year with new oem Motorcraft platinum spark plugs. I also had the accessory belt changed this year. I recently had an alignment done on the car and everything is in specs and it drives straight.

Stereo Upgrades:

I had a custom stereo system installed with a 12" kicker subwoofer and a Precision Power amplifier for the front and upgraded Pioneer rear speakers and a Kicker ZR series amp for the subwoofer. The subwoofer and amps are hidden away in the spare tire wheel area as shown in the pictures, so you can't see it and the trunk is still very useable. It has an upgraded Apline headunit with 4v pre-outs for the amps, CD player with MP3, and AUX Stereo input.

I have the factory head unit and rear speakers, which I can include with the Focus.

Performance:

I had a 2.5" Borla cat-back exhaust installed and CFM Performance high-flow cat installed. The exhaust sounds great with a low exhaust note. I also had SCT program the Focus with a custom tune to adjust for the increased power gain from the exhaust. I am including the SCT X2 with the Focus.

This Focus has MSD performance coil pack and spark plug wires.

Suspension/handling Upgrades:

OZ Racing Ultraleggera 17x7 silver wheels with Dunlop Direzza Star Spec tires 215/45/17 in the front and rear. The tires have little wear in the front and the rear tires need to be replaced soon. I am including two like new Dunlop Direzza ZII tires for the rear ($300 value). The Focus has Koni yellow adjustable front struts and Spax rear adjustable shocks. The springs are Intrax lowering springs for the SVT Focus. I had Eibach swaybars installed in the front and rear on June 2012. I the brakes upgraded to EBC Redstuff brake pads front and rear with premium replacement rotors. The Focus handles great with the sticky tires and stiff suspension. The wheels really look very nice on this Focus.

Interior Dress-up:

I upgraded the factory plastic A/C knobs with billet aluminum ones and changed the plastic cigarette lighter with a billet piece. I have the factory A/C knobs and cigarette lighter, which I can include with the Focus.

This is not the average Focus or average Focus SVT. You can see that I spent thousands of dollars to make this Focus handle, perform, and sound much better compared to stock. I believe I am selling my Focus SVT at a fair price. Please contact me if you have any questions. I recommend that you look at the car before purchasing to make sure that you like it.

2016: The year of the autonomous-car promise

Mon, Jan 2 2017

About half of the news we covered this year related in some way to The Great Autonomous Future, or at least it seemed that way. If you listen to automakers, by 2020 everyone will be driving (riding?) around in self-driving cars. But what will they look like, how will we make the transition from driven to driverless, and how will laws and infrastructure adapt? We got very few answers to those questions, and instead were handed big promises, vague timelines, and a dose of misdirection by automakers. There has been a lot of talk, but we still don't know that much about these proposed vehicles, which are at least three years off. That's half a development cycle in this industry. We generally only start to get an idea of what a company will build about two years before it goes on sale. So instead of concrete information about autonomous cars, 2016 has brought us a lot of promises, many in the form of concept cars. They have popped up from just about every automaker accompanied by the CEO's pledge to deliver a Level 4 autonomous, all-electric model (usually a crossover) in a few years. It's very easy to say that a static design study sitting on a stage will be able to drive itself while projecting a movie on the windshield, but it's another thing entirely to make good on that promise. With a few exceptions, 2016 has been stuck in the promising stage. It's a strange thing, really; automakers are famous for responding with "we don't discuss future product" whenever we ask about models or variants known to be in the pipeline, yet when it comes to self-driving electric wondermobiles, companies have been falling all over themselves to let us know that theirs is coming soon, it'll be oh so great, and, hey, that makes them a mobility company now, not just an automaker. A lot of this is posturing and marketing, showing the public, shareholders, and the rest of the industry that "we're making one, too, we swear!" It has set off a domino effect – once a few companies make the guarantee, the rest feel forced to throw out a grandiose yet vague plan for an unknown future. And indeed there are usually scant details to go along with such announcements – an imprecise mileage estimate here, or a far-off, percentage-based goal there. Instead of useful discussion of future product, we get demonstrations of test mules, announcements of big R&D budgets and new test centers they'll fund, those futuristic concept cars, and, yeah, more promises.

Amazon looking to bring Kindle to your next car?

Mon, 25 Feb 2013

Maybe so. The online retailer and digital media monolith recently announced the Amazon Cloud Player, an application for Ford Sync that allows users to stream media from their Amazon Cloud account directly to a Ford vehicle. This foray into automotive technology got the minds at Gigaom.com thinking about what could be next for Amazon. As Kevin Fitchard writes, the logical step is to make audio versions of your Kindle library selections available in your car. As he points out, Amazon has already laid the groundwork for such a move.
Amazon pulled the sheets back on Whispersync for Voice last year. The tech pairs ebooks with an Audible book for a small extra fee, allowing users to either read along with a narrator or switch between audio and text versions on command. Fitchard says it wouldn't be some great leap to apply the same principles to a car, where voice recognition software would allow users to pause or select chapters without ever taking their eyes off of the road.
It all sounds just fine to us, but Amazon hasn't said a thing about such a move. Still, we wouldn't be surprised to see the company come down this road in the near future just the same.

Ford Mondeo with 1.5-liter EcoBoost debuts in China

Sat, 20 Apr 2013

Does the car above, posing fancifully in white, look familiar? Well, it should. Although it wears Mondeo badges in the form you see above for the Chinese market - as it does in Europe - the car is basically the same thing sold in the US as the Ford Fusion. Of course, it's what's under that shapely skin that counts.
Ford has chosen the Shanghai Motor Show as the venue with which to unveil its 1.5-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine. We'd heard about the engine before, but now we have a few performance estimates to share: 133 kW of power (about 178 horsepower) and 240 Nm of torque (about 177 pound-feet).
Those numbers pretty much confirm previous rumors indicating about 177 in each category, and it's right on par with what Ford's own 1.6-liter EcoBoost produces. Ford is claiming best-in-class fuel economy as well, but no specific figures have yet been provided. In any case, we'll surely have all the data soon enough, as the 1.5-liter mill is destined for the US Fusion in 2014.
