Lovingly owned and meticulously maintained by an 85 year old woman, this Ford Five Hundred SEL was treated like her one and only child. Finished in the most desirable color combination; Dark Red with Beige Leather interior, this SEL with All Wheel Drive is a cut above the rest. Let’s take a closer look now.
Exterior: With the exception of a few minor chips, scuffs and scratches (mostly along the lower, right front area here) the 100% original factory looks great.
In this case, what lies beyond the shiny exterior speaks volumes about the loving care this Ford has always received.
Surveying the straight and smooth coachwork today, we marvel at how well the finish looks.
Combination entry located here
The Hankook Optimo P225/55/R18 radials are like new and are mounted to 18” chrome wheels which show some minor curb damage but still have amazing detail.
Speaking of detail, let us stress how straight the body is, how glossy the paint: if you wouldn't know differently, you'd think to be looking at a 6-month old, not a 6-year old car. This one is that clean!
We'll inspect the interior next, shall we?
This roomy Ford offers an airy cabin with eight cup holders, a full menu of airbags and one of the world's largest trunks (21 cubic feet) which makes it a solid bet for families. A tall seating position helps wean SUV groupies off the habit, while providing excellent visibility and easy entry for passengers. This SEL full leather trim package includes eight-way power driver seat and power passenger seat, automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, wood interior trim, an MP3-compatible in-dash CD changer, a fold-flat front-passenger seat and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Always garaged and never smoked in, the supple leather interior is absolutely flawless.
Scrutinize the leather cabin and it's apparent that designers put a lot of thought into creating an attractive and functional environment. Rear passengers are treated to equally spacious quarters, making this Ford car a good bet for families with teenagers. The rear seats fold flat in a 60/40-split and this, along with the fold-flat front-passenger seat, allows owners to transport items up to 9 feet in length. Everything from the carpet to the headliner appears untouched.
Audio, onboard computer and speed controls are located on the steering wheel
The instruments all work flawlessly and the low 67,000 miles were meticulously maintained. Miles at the end of this one-week auction will be slightly higher as the car is available for inspections and test drives.
Service receipts are included…
The CRV Automatic transmission with All Wheel Drive and traction control has amazing performance and handling features. The audio system with 6-Disk in dash CD guarantees pleasurable audio, even when traveling at speeds well above the double nickel.
All window, lock and mirror switches and pedal adjustment feature work perfectly.
Headliner is flawless and the Power Moon Roof is another factory option. Books and Owner’s manuals are in their original pouch. Both remote keys are included. Everything looks, smells and feels as if the car was delivered yesterday, not 6 years ago.
The spacious trunk has panels that fold forward
The spare wheel/tire, jack & lug wrench appear to have never been used.
A picture says more than a thousand words: this trunk is immaculate! Engine & Mechanical:
The immaculate engine compartment is all original and factory-correct.
Beyond religious oil and fluid changes, all services were performed at the recommended intervals.
As a result, this Five Hundred is mechanically as strong as it is cosmetically.
Yes, any Ford can be very tough and reliable with a bit of preventative maintenance! Safety: All Five Hundred models come with a full set of disc brakes, ABS and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution Air Bags and Traction Control. Front- and side-impact testing by the NHTSA returned a perfect five-star rating across the board. The IIHS named the Ford Five Hundred a "Best Pick" after conducting its frontal-offset crash test. Drivability: With a 3.0-liter V6 and CVT automatic, ride and handling is a strong point for the Five Hundred with a pleasant blend of comfort and agility. In any climate, the powerful engine starts every time, idles, revs and pulls effortlessly without unusual noises or hesitation and accelerates strong and smooth leaving no smoke in your rear-view mirror.
Warmed up, the oil pressure and coolant temperature remains absolutely stable, with no hint of overheating even after extended runs in rush hour traffic. The all-wheel-drive, continuously variable transmission (CVT) has all the convenience of a regular automatic but has an infinite number of ratios and chooses whichever one best fits a given situation. Fuel economy rates 19 mpg city, 25 mpg highway. Steering is precise and the 4-wheel ABS disc brakes anchor the car securely, in a straight line, and without any hint of fading.
Aided with traction control and 18” alloy wheels, handling and braking are superb with no rattles, shakes, shimmies or pulls. All in all, this Five Hundred is a joy to drive, perfectly reliable and ready to be driven anywhere, even across the Country, if that's where you live. Finally, with an original MSRP of over $33,000, the 2007 Ford Five Hundred has reached the bottom-end of the depreciation curve; a perfect time to buy. There's but one stumbling block on the way to Five Hundred Heaven: Immaculate, garaged, meticulously maintained, low mile examples are getting very hard to find. All the more reason to watch this one closely;

This Ford’s present condition and buying terms have been described as accurately as possible. Consumer Reports no longer recommends Honda Civic
Mon, Oct 24 2016Consumer Reports annual Car Reliability Survey is out, and yes, there are some big surprises. First and foremost? The venerable publication no longer recommends the Honda Civic. In fact, aside from the walking-dead CR-Z and limited-release Clarity fuel-cell car, the Civic is the only Honda to miss out on CR's prestigious nod. At the opposite end there's a surprise as well – Toyota and Lexus remain the most reliable brands on the market, but Buick cracked the top three. That's up from seventh last year, and the first time for an American brand to stand on the Consumer Reports podium. Mazda's entire lineup earned Recommended checks as well. Consumer Reports dinged the Civic for its "infuriating" touch-screen radio, lack of driver lumbar adjustability, the limited selection of cars on dealer lots fitted with Honda's popular Sensing system, and the company's decision to offer LaneWatch instead of a full-tilt blind-spot monitoring system. Its score? A lowly 58. The Civic isn't the only surprise drop from CR's Recommended ranks. The Audi A3, Ford F-150, Subaru WRX/STI, and Volkswagen Jetta, GTI, and Passat all lost the Consumer Reports' checkmark. On the flipside, a number of popular vehicles graduated to the Recommended ranks, including the BMW X5, Chevrolet Camaro, Corvette, and Cruze, Hyundai Santa Fe, Porsche Macan, and Tesla Model S. Perhaps the biggest surprise is the hilariously recall-prone Ford Escape getting a Recommended check – considering the popularity of Ford's small crossover, this is likely a coup for the brand, as it puts the Escape on a level playing field with the Recommended Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, and Nissan Rogue. While Ford is probably happy to see CR promote the Escape, the list wasn't as kind for every brand. For example, of the entire Fiat Chrysler Automobiles catalog, the ancient Chrysler 300 was the only car to score a check – there wasn't a single Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Maserati, or Ram on the list. That hurts. FCA isn't alone at the low end, either. GMC, Jaguar Land Rover, Mini, and Mitsubishi don't have a vehicle on CR's list between them, while brands like Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Nissan, Lincoln, Infiniti, and Cadillac only have a few models each. You can check out Consumer Reports entire reliability roundup, even without a subscription, here.
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Ford Transit can haul on the track
Tue, 19 Aug 2014Line up any two comparable vehicles, and eople are going to want to race them. Need proof? In its latest track battle, Auto Express wants to know which commercial vehicle can lap a circuit faster - a Ford Transit or Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. Let's face it, neither of these European vans were ever meant to be near the track unless they are delivering a racecar and a ton of parts for a fun weekend, but it's massively fun to watch them give it a go anyway.
The one thing that Auto Express really illustrates here is the modern marvel that is stability control. The driver hops curves, and these big vans lean in the corners like your friend walking home from a long night at the bar. However, because of the amazing stability systems, the vans mostly keep all of their wheels planted and never seem close to getting sloppy, despite their behemoth size.
Unfortunately, the two vans aren't exactly fairly paired. The Ford has a dual rear axle and a few other advantages over the Mercedes, but it's still hilarious to watch them go. Even better, the host breaks down everything happening behind the wheel like these commercial vehicles were two Porsches. Enjoy watching this very unorthodox battle between Ford and Mercedes.

Audi plans to give its electric vehicles looks that differentiate them from the rest of the lineup. "In early 2018, we will launch a battery-powered sports activity vehicle in the large premium segment with a range of more than 500 kilometers," says Audi's head of development, Ulrich Hackenberg. "It will have a new, very attractive design, which we are developing especially for the E-Tron range and for battery-electric vehicles." According to analysts, part of the reason the Toyota Prius was so successful was because it was easy to distinguish from other Toyota models with conventional powertrains. James Lawler used mostly scraps to build the tiny house – complete with tin roof, chimney, and stained glass window – for just $150 Australian. It took him about a week to finish. Lawler made use of his creation at the Meredith Music Festival so he didn't have to sleep in a tent. He was, however, fined by police for driving the makeshift motorhome.
