Rare Ford Falcon Futura Sport, Daily Driver, Work Done on 2040-cars
Valley Village, California, United States
For sale is a ford falcon futura sport coupe 200ci L6 manual. Work done, daily driver, YouTube video below.
This is a rare car, less than 6,000 of the updated '69s were assembled (then sold in 1970). This is a daily driver and lives in garage. No rust, engine was rebuilt a bit over a year ago, seals, bearings, rings, points, plugs, etc all new, carb tuned and rebuilt, (rebuilt at 100k, currently at ~32k) by a couple shop guys, that makes me the 3rd owner. Has a modern radiator too, never overheats. Paint is in great condition considering its age, though there are a few chips that have a bit of surface rust, but very small, few small dents, original gaslite glass all around. Has new American Racing wheels, was originally an automatic but when rebuilt a new manual transmission was installed (4 on the floor). All electronics work. The interior is good, seats and headliner are great but the dash is pretty rough ($30 model specific cover on rockauto.com, or as easy as a handful of screws underneath and on top to change out with a new one). Sounds great, it's loud, starts immediately, serious head turner (you will be asked about it and asked for photographs so be prepared to look a bit conspicuous). You will not see another one of these around town, and nothing in this shape. This car will be worth pretty big $$ in the not-to-far future, so consider this an investment and daily driver 'project.' I'm moving cross-country for work and would like to keep this car with its Cali plates, so here is your opportunity. Excellent car to tune, the rear suspension can be raised to fit drag slicks, you can still buy the original gaslite carb trees to make this a 3 carb L6, or even just a rejet on the current carb and an open-air filter to give even greater oomph. http://youtu.be/57N-nlOsO-c Listen to the car here, sorry about the quality Message me for more photos Ask me anything and happy bidding |

Watch NASCAR racer Brad Keselowski do a burnout... in a hotel conference room
Fri, 08 Mar 2013A vast majority of hotels frown upon smoking inside the building these days, but Brad Keselowski doesn't follow the rules. During his introduction at the 2013 MiilerCoors Distribution Convention, the reigning NASCAR Sprint Cup champion smoked the tires of his Miller-sponsored Ford Fusion stock car, adding a pair of thick, black stripes to the carpeting of the Marriott World Center's conference room.
This definitely isn't a high-quality video, but it's the perfect vantage point to watch Keselowski lay down some rubber and receive a well-deserved standing ovation after pulling up in front of the crowd. Check out the short-but-sweet video posted below.
Toyota again claims Corolla outsold Focus worldwide
Wed, 10 Apr 2013Toyota isn't convinced the Ford Focus was the best-selling nameplate globally last year. Bloomberg reports that for the second time in seven months, both Toyota and Ford are laying claim to the title. Ford cites R.L. Polk & Co. data that says the automaker moved some 1.02 million Focus models in 2012 compared to just 872,774 Toyota Corolla units. But Toyota says the actual figure is closer to 1.16 million Corolla models.
Last year, Ford said it took the sales crown through the fist half of 2012 based on information from IHS Automotive, but Toyota pointed out those numbers left out models like the Corolla-based Matrix and Auris, as well as the Corolla Fielder and Scion xB-based Corolla Rumion. Whether or not Toyota's belief that all these cars should be counted in the Corolla bucket is accurate or not is seemingly up for debate... as is the question of why it matters so much to both parties.
This time around, Ford is holding the line that the Focus is the "best-selling nameplate," with Erich Merkle, a US sales analyst with Ford saying the company's figure is, "a pure number that is verified by a third party." Toyota, meanwhile, has requested clarification from Polk.
Report: GM struggling to market turbo technology
Tue, 20 Apr 2010In the automotive realm, marketing can sometimes prove just as important as the actual product. Take, for instance, Ford's well regarded EcoBoost technology, which couples turbocharging with direct injection to produce more horsepower and reduce fuel consumption. Would it surprise you to hear that General Motors has had similar technology on the market for over three years?
It's true. GM's first turbocharged, direct injected powerplants hit the market for the 2007 model. The 2.0-liter Ecotec mills put down an impressive 260 horsepower and a matching 260 pound-feet of torque, and they were lauded by the press in the engine bays of the Pontiac Solstice, Saturn Sky, Chevrolet Cobalt SS and Chevrolet HHR SS. But few people outside a core group of enthusiasts actually remember this fact.
Says Uwe Grebe, executive director of GM's global advanced engineering, "We didn't have a badge and say, 'This is the most important thing we will put on all our brochures.'" Ford, however, did just that, and it's EcoBoost engines are right at the tips of all our tongues when we discuss today's most advanced powerplants. So, how does The General fix its mistake?
