Hesperia, California, United States

Nice unrestored 1965 Ford Falcon. The car is a daily driver. Has the original black California plates, even has the original license plate frame from the Ford dealer in Mojave Cal. been in the high desert all it's life. I bought this from the second owner and have a stack of receipts back to 1990 when he bought it. It even has the original keys. The car had sat for the last 15 years, I bought it and prepped the engine and after rebuilding carb, changing plugs and fluids etc. it fired right up and runs like a champ. I had a new master cylinder installed as well as brakes and wheel cylinders cleaned and inspected, bearings packed and four new white wall tires installed and new shocks, new thermostat housing and thermostat. That is the original white paint but at some time in the past the left front fender has been replaced. As can be seen in photos there is a minor dent at the left rear corner and directly behind the right front fender is a ripple from when he drove off a curb. There is absolutely no rust issues, this is a high desert car. The interior is original and does show it's 49 years. The engine runs strong, no smoke or problems, engine has the factory tag stating 1965 289, has the C-4 trans, 8 inch Ford rear end and is the five lug bolt pattern and is a fun little car to drive. Previous owner told me it was a column shift car originally, he had it converted and was getting it ready for paint (that is why the engine compartment is blue) marital problems caused him to lose interest and it sat. Previous owner also had dual exhaust installed with low restriction mufflers and it sound good. The aftermarket radio is no-op due to the speakers deteriorated so I pulled them out. All the glass is good, no cracks, all lights and blinkers and gauges work heater works wipers work, the horn has a push button under dash. The hub caps are not original they are 1957 caps. I have put about 200 miles on it and it runs very well, a four barrel carb would sure perk it up but as it is it is quicker than a jack rabbit on a date. The chassis is the same as all the first generation Mustangs so upgrades are cheap and plentiful. These little Falcons are definitely on the rise as affordable performance Hot Rods. This is a nice rust free 77,000 mile car from the High Desert of So. Cal. The car has a clear and proper title and is current (no non-op or such). I do have it for sale locally and will entertain buy it now offers, but please don't email me asking my bottom line. My reserve is fair and may end auction early unless it hits the reserve first. I have fairly described the car but if you have any further questions I will answer and post them for all to see. Thank you for looking.

First retail 2015 Ford Mustang headed to Barrett-Jackson

Fri, 20 Dec 2013

Want to be the very first person to own a 2015 Ford Mustang GT? Here's what you'll need to do: be in Scottsdale, AZ on January 18 for the Barrett-Jackson auction and bring a very big checkbook. Having a passion for charity isn't a bad idea either.
Yes, the first 2015 Mustang to be sold to the public will be crossing the block at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, with proceeds from the auction going to JDRF, the charity formerly known as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
"Ford Mustangs have always been among the most popular collector cars at Barrett-Jackson Collector Car events," said the president of Barrett-Jackson, Steve Davis. "While every collector wishes they had snapped up the first Mustang sold in 1964, this is an opportunity to realize that dream in a different way."

10 automakers shack up in Detroit hotel to talk Takata airbags

Sun, Dec 14 2014

Since Takata has decided not to take the lead concerning potential issues with its airbag inflators, the automakers have. Perhaps that's unsurprising, since it's the automakers, not Takata, that will take a beating on the dealership floor if consumers decide its models are a health hazards. The Detroit News reports that Toyota, Honda, General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, Mazda, BMW, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Subaru met in a hotel conference room near the Detroit Metropolitan Airport last week to sort out a way to understand the technical issues involved. So far, faulty airbag inflators have been ruled the cause of five deaths and 50 injuries around the world, but neither Takata nor investigators understands exactly why the inflators are malfunctioning. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently asked Takata to issue a national recall, Takata declined, citing a minuscule failure rate and the fact that it's still investigating the issue. Toyota and Honda then made an industry-wide appeal for "a coordinated, comprehensive testing program" that would pinpoint the problem inflators and get them replaced, and that's what the Detroit meeting was about. Numerous issues, however, will make this a long row to hoe: simply getting the parts to replace the nearly 20 million inflators in cars recalled around the world so far - even working with other suppliers - will take a years, but more importantly, no one knows if the replacement inflators currently being installed will suffer the same issue. Answers will hopefully come quickly with Takata, the ten automakers and NHTSA all independently investigating the problem.

Amelia Island 2013: 50 years of the Ferrari-slaying Ford GT40

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

Originally developed with the sole purpose of being a Ferrari rival to compete at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Ford GT40 became a prominent racing machine in the 1960s in both Europe and the US. Not wanting to leave such an important car out of the fun, the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance also took time out from its other celebrations to recognize the 50-year anniversary of the GT40.
Over its short lifespan, the GT40 was offered in a handful of configurations, but the classic short-tailed (Mk I and Mk II) bodystyles were well represented... especially in Gulf livery. James Glickenhaus (of Ferrari P4/5 fame) had his bright yellow Mk IV in the field, and there were several others in this bodystyle, including one that has seen plenty of time on the track judging by its chipped-up nose.
As a fitting statement for the car's lengthy racing history, GT40 Chassis Number 1075 won this year's Concours de Sport award. This car took home the checkered flag at Le Mans in 1968 and 1969, and racked up a total of six wins in just 11 races.
