If you have been looking for a straight rust-free hardtop platform, this might be the one for you.  Whether you want to swap chassis with your rusty classic, or build something from scratch, this body has a lot of options.
Years ago, this car was stolen and stripped, then bought from a salvage yard and stored for a few years as a parts car.  In California, the fees are up to date.  All it needs for registration is a safety inspection, when it's competed of course.
Or, if you just need the chassis to swap out with another, then of course you can use your own title.

There seems to be very little bondo on this car.  As far as the metal goes, there is a ripple just behind the drivers door that needs to be popped out - it shouldn't take much to true it out - especially with the seats and panels out of the way. There is also a dent in the rocker panel on the passenger side just below the front of the door.  Otherwise, the body is very straight how it sits and all of the sheet metal is in great shape.

The car had a V-8 and an automatic before it was stolen.  It looks like there was a B&M shifter from the rectangular shape of the cut-out in the floor pan.

What is included:  A rolling chassis sitting on an 8" rear end, 5 lug front end, doors, fenders, hood, decklid, all glass, chrome molding interior and exterior that goes around the windows, and along the roof rail. Power steering idler arm and link.  All wiring except for engine compartment.

Optional parts not included in the above price:
  • Bumpers w/ brackets - $100 each
  • Tail lights - $50
  • Instrument panel with 4 piece futura dash plastic - $100
  • Rebuilt AOD Transmission w/ shift kit:  $600
  • '65 Mustang tunnel hump with cross-member and automatic floor shifter:  $150

Ford recalling nearly 700k Escape CUVs, C-Max hybrids over two separate safety issues

Fri, 09 May 2014

Poor Escape. Ever since its launch in 2012, Ford's small CUV has been the subject of many, many, many recalls. And today, The Detroit News is reporting that Ford is adding two more recalls to the 2013-14 model year Escape's permanent record, one of them also involves the C-Max hybrid hatchback.
The first recall, covering 692,500 Escape and C-Max vehicles, is due to a software glitch that could cause the airbags - specifically, the safety canopy - to not deploy in a timely fashion during rollover crashes. According to the News, Ford says no crashes or injuries have been reported in relation to this problem.
The second recall, covering 692,700 Escapes, is related to the door handles. The News reports that the exterior door handles could open while the vehicle is in motion, and could also fail to latch properly. Once again, no crashes or injuries have occurred because of this. The National Highway Safety Traffic Administration has not issued an official notice on either recall as of this writing.

Toyota hangs on to title of world's largest automaker for first half of 2013

Fri, 26 Jul 2013

General Motors and Ford can have all the success they please, but it doesn't seem like America's two largest manufacturers are going to topple Toyota in the first half of 2013. According to Reuters, Toyota moved 4.91 million vehicles in the first six months of 2013, representing a 1.1-percent drop from the same period in 2012.
GM is on the rise, though, with a four-percent increase in global sales, to 4.85 million. Volkswagen, still sitting in third, saw a 5.5-percent jump to 4.7 million vehicles in the first half of 2013.
If this pace continues for Toyota, it'll finish 2013 in the top sales spot for the second year in a row. The manufacturer fell to third, behind GM and VW, in 2011 after earthquakes and tsunamis ravaged its production capacity.

IIHS says these are the safest cars of 2013

Wed, 02 Jan 2013

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has revealed its annual list of Top Safety Picks, an award that highlights automobiles it says offer "superior crash protection." A new and still more significant award, the Top Safety Pick+ honor, is given to those vehicles that earn good ratings for occupant protection in four out of five areas of measure. And while some 117 vehicles were given the TSP seal of approval for 2013, just 13 passed muster for TSP+.
To be fair, IIHS only evaluated 29 vehicles with its new testing procedures for TSP+ (we'd expect that the number of qualified cars will rise substantially for 2014). Luxury and Near Luxury midsize cars were the first groups evaluated, followed by midsizers in the Moderately Priced Cars category - unsurprisingly, it's only midsize cars that you'll find among the class this year.
Only two luxury sedans made the list of 13 for 2013: the Acura TL and Volvo S60. The other 11 cars on the list included entries from domestic, Japanese and German car makers: Dodge Avenger, Chrysler 200, Ford Fusion, Honda Accord (sedan and coupe), Kia Optima (but not its close kin, the Hyundai Sonata, strangely), Nissan Altima, Subaru Legacy and Outback, Suzuki Kizashi and the Volkswagen Passat all made the grade.
