1963 Ford Falcon
Only 85,665 Original Miles

*LOW RESERVE*

Ever wonder what people saw when they bought a used falcon in the late 60's or early 70's? Well now you can see for yourself. Maybe you were there and want to remember what they looked like. Well now you can. This car is a true survivor with only 85,665 original miles currently on it. I get comments and thumbs up all the time in this car and you will too.

This 4 door sedan has a 144 ci straight six engine with a 3 speed on the column standard transmission. This car starts every time and runs great and runs smooth. It has a new clutch, new muffler and new ignition switch as of last winter, manual choke, good tires, all good glass, no rips or tears in the front seat, headliner or door panels, all gages and lights work and no dents in the car at all.

The only thing that isn't original on this car, that I can tell, is someone recovered the front seat and the car was repainted the original color at some point.

So you're probably wondering about any issues it may have right?
Well I'll say that is doesn't have many but there are a few and I've listed here below. This is not an exhaustive list but as complete a list as I can put together based on my knowledge of the car.

- Back Seat- The back seat (the part you sit on) needs to be redone. It is ripped in many places. By the looks of it the material just rotted out, someone sat on it and that was it. (it is 50 yrs old after all) I put a sheet over it as you can see in the pics so we can sit on it without getting cotton padding all over us. The back of the seat is just fine.

- Gas Mileage- It currently gets about 20mpg I have talked with other Falcon owners and some are getting 25mpg I think this car could be improved with electronic points and a complete tune up.

- Radiator- It does not normally have any overheating issues at all but one hot day I did notice that it got pretty warm, like close to overheating. It didnt overheat but got close. I tested it out another time I went out on a warm day and I went up this long steep hill (about 1 mile at 12% grade) and it got a little warmer than usual but not hot. I'm thinking that the radiator is probably going to need rodded out soon. If you live in a warm climate then sooner the better so no damage occurs accidentally the one time you forget about it. Just to be clear, these occurrences DID NOT do any damage and there IS NOT an overheating issue with this car I am telling you this to let you know what you are buying.

- Rust- This is the big question in these cars isn't it? Well, I have been under the car myself looking around for issues and I can say that I didn't see any rust issues at all. However, as you will see in the pics there is a small spot on both back doors that is bubbling in the bottom corners. there is no rust under the doors but for some reason the outside panel is bubbling. It is currently little bubbles clustered together all totaling about the size of a quarter on each door. (see pics)

- Paint- As stated before, this car was repainted. Thankfully someone decided to repaint it the same color that the car was originally to match the colors up but frankly, in my opinion, the paint job is a cheap paint job. It has a little bit of flaking below the trunk area by where you fill the gas. That's the worst part of flaking but there are a couple small (pencil eraser size) spots around the car that have flaked also. Nothing major at all and I don't have any reason to believe that the whole car will flake or anything like that. There are some little drips and splatters here and there that bother me but you may not even notice them. Overall I am a bit of a perfectionist and the paint is not perfect mostly due to poor masking techniques which is why I am glad they painted it the same color as original. This car looks very nice at about 10ft away.

- Trim- There is a little ding in the chrome trim on the drivers side in the back below the word falcon. Not ugly but noticeable if you're looking for it. 10ft away it is barely noticeable. There is also a scratch in another piece of trim on the passenger side but barely noticeable at 5 feet away.

- Sun Visors- From the factory they were made of cardboard. They are both complete with no tears but both of them the sewed seam is coming out. I thought about taking it to an auto upholstery guy to have him re-sew it but never got around to doing it.

- Dome light- The dome light does work but I just noticed that you have to fidgit with the button in the door jamb for it to work when the drivers door is open.

- Gas Gage- it does work but only goes down to 1/4 tank. I just watch it go down to that point and then drive it a little more and got fill up again.

- Radio- The radio does not work at all. Never tried to get it going and didn't really care. It looks good though!

Keep in mind this is a 50 year old vehicle and even with the low miles it has on it, it has still been around for 50 years and it is a used car. So, there are little imperfections here and there like some of the silver paint on the instrument cluster is either worn with time or has flaked and some little scratches around the ignition from when I had a guy replace it and he used a tool that scratched the dash. (not a happy camper that day) Buy overall though this is a beautiful car and is by far the nicest original classic car I have ever seen.

So, why am I selling my beautiful car?  Well it's simple, we are actually selling most of our stuff to move across the country. I seriously considered keeping it but unfortunately I just don't think it will work. This is a great cruiser car that I often use to keep me grounded and bring me back to basics in this wild and crazy world but I guess I'll have to find something smaller to do that for me after I sell it... Maybe a puppy!  HAHA :)

North American Car, Truck and SUV of the Year finalists revealed

Thu, Nov 17 2022

The finalists for the 2023 North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year Awards were announced Thursday at the L.A. Auto Show. — The Acura Integra, Genesis Electrified G80 and Nissan Z made the cut in the car category. — The Ford F-150 Lightning, Chevy Silverado ZR2 and Lordstown Endurance advanced in trucks. — And the Cadillac Lyriq, Genesis GV60 and Kia EV6 advanced among utilities.  The winners will be announced Jan. 11 in Detroit.  The finalists underscored the industryÂ’s shift to electric vehicles, as all three utilities and two of the three trucks are EVs. The finalists were culled from a list of 26 semifinalists made up of three trucks, 10 cars and 16 utility vehicles that are new this year.  Notables that missed the cut include the Mercedes EQE, Subaru WRX and Toyota GR Corolla in cars; while the Honda CR-V, Kia Sportage and Rivian R1S were among the utes that did not advance. The three trucks are the only ones eligible this year and have advanced through the voting.  50 jurors who work for media outlets across North America vote three times over the course of the year to whittle down the field, which was originally 47 vehicles. Jurors also test the semifinalists at an October group event in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Honda Civic (car), Ford Maverick (truck) and Ford Bronco (utility vehicle) were the 2022 winners. Ford made three big mistakes in calculating MPG for 2013 C-Max Hybrid

Tue, Jun 17 2014

It's been a rough time for the official fuel economy figures for the Ford C-Max Hybrid. When the car was released in 2012, Ford made a huge deal about how it would beat the Toyota Prius V, which was rated at 42 combined miles per gallon, 44 city and 40 highway. The Ford? 47 mpg across the board. How did Ford come to this place, where its Prius-beater turned into an also-ran? Well, after hearing customer complaints and issuing a software update in mid-2013, then discovering a real problem with the numbers last fall and then making a big announcement last week that the fuel economy ratings of six different 2013 and 2014 model year vehicles would need to be lowered, the C-Max Hybrid has ended up at 40 combined, 42 city and 37 highway. In other words, the Prius trumps it, as daily drivers of those two vehicles have known for a long time. The changes will not only affect the window sticker, but also the effect that the C-Max Hybrid (and the five other Ford vehicles that had their fuel economy figures lowered last week) have on Ford's compliance with greenhouse gas and CAFE rules for model year 2013 and 2014. How did Ford come to this place, where its Prius-beater turned into an also-ran? There are two technical answers to that question, which we've got below, as well as some context for how Ford's mistakes will play out in the bigger world of green vehicles. Let's start with Ford's second error, which is easy to do since we documented it in detail last year (the first, needing to do a software update, was also covered). The basic gist is that Ford used the general label rule (completely legally) to test the Fusion Hybrid and use those numbers to figure out how efficient the C-Max Hybrid is. That turned out to be a mistake, since the two vehicles are different enough that their numbers were not comparable, despite having the same engine, transmission and test weight, as the rules require. You can read more details here. Ford's Said Deep admitted that the TRLHP issue is completely separate from the general label error from last year. Now let's move on to last week's announcement. What's interesting is that the new recalculation of the MPG numbers – downward, of course – was caused by a completely separate issue, something called the Total Road Load Horsepower (TRLHP). Ford's Said Deep admitted to AutoblogGreen that the TRLHP issue had nothing to do with the general label error from last year.

Weekly Recap: Ford GT inspires guitar, foosball table, sailboat

Sat, Apr 18 2015

Ford design vice president Moray Callum had just wrapped up a briefing on the interior of the Ford GT last month, but something seemed out of place. He grinned and pointed behind him, "You might be wondering why I have a boat behind me," he said mischievously. It was there because Ford set its designers on a mission to stretch and showcase their talents: design non-automotive objects inspired by the interior of the GT supercar. Callum received quite a response, too. His team produced a guitar, a foosball table (yeah bro!), a racing sailboat, a Wi-Fi speaker and some furniture. As the veteran design chief explained, "It's a really great exercise both to highlight our designers' talents, but also to really see how our design philosophy can work and how you can use it and get a common response back from a worldwide design team." Guitar View 25 Photos The objects have been on display this week at the Salone del Mobile furniture and fashion design fair in Milan, Italy, where Ford has had a presence for three years. There's also a light exhibition that apparently was inspired by the GT, as well. While this might seem a little far-fetched for the automaker, Ford said exhibitions like the Salone del Mobile give its designers another way to be creative and ultimately produce striking interior style. Ford wants this to be a differentiator, as research shows consumers are placing emphasis on the layout and features inside when they're making a decision about buying a new car. It's a little light hearted – but it's also potentially big business. Other News & Notes Cadillac CT6 platform could be used for Buick General Motors product chief Mark Reuss said the Cadillac CT6 platform could be used for a large Buick, though "not yet," Automotive News reported. The underpinnings can accommodate rear-wheel or all-wheel drive and would give Buick the large flagship it lacks. The report jibes with comments Reuss made at a roundtable with Autoblog and other reporters at the New York Auto Show. When asked if Buick had space for a large car on the CT6 chassis, he replied, "Yeah, I think it does. Yeah, I think we do." Buick has revamped its lineup in recent years with attractive crossovers and small and midsize sedans, but hasn't added the proverbial flagship that's yearned for by enthusiasts. Buick surprised industry observers with the stylish Avenir concept at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year that raised the possibility of a halo sedan.
