1960 Ford Falcon Gasser Hot Rod Rat Rod on 2040-cars
Louisville, Kentucky, United States
This is a 1960 Falcon that I bought about 5 years ago. it did come out of a dirt floor garage where it had been sitting 20+ years. When I bought the car it was just a body with what was left of the button tucked interior that was done in the mid 70s. After I got the car home and looked at it a while I decided it needed an axle under the front. The out side has been left alone, just like I pulled it out of the garage. It has Dents, Rust, Bondo cracking and Faded paint. this will never be a show car if that is what your looking for. I had a friends help with this car, it has been completely apart. We started with an Econoline front axle, narrowed it to fit the falcon. New king pins, brakes including drums, wheel cylinders and bearings. The steering links are all new with heim ends. Front springs re-arched with new bushings. The stock steering box has some play, should be replaced, I may have one located. The floors had to have a few patch panels, we installed sub-frame connectors, then cleaned, PORed and undercoated them. The rear end is a 9" from a 70 Torino with 31 spline axles, 4:11 gears and a full spool, also all new brakes. We also made the custom 6 foot long ladder bars. There is a 12 Gallon Fuel cell with a Mallory fuel pump, filter and regulator. The engine is a stock bore short block from a 91 GT mustang with new rings, bearings, oil pump, Comp Cams double roller chain, Ford Motorsport B303 cam and hydraulic roller lifters, Edelbrock Performer heads that take the o-ringed head gaskets, Offenhauser tunnel ram intake with 2 450 Holleys and vintage MR Gasket velocity stacks. Steel fly wheel, blow proof belhousing and a close ratio toploader 4 speed with a Hurst Super Shifter, also custom drive shaft with new spicer u-joints. Everything under this car is new or rebuilt with less than 1000 miles, except the steering box. The wheels are vintage Rocket steel slots, the fronts are 3 1/2" X 15 with 30+ year old bias ply tires, the rear are 8" X 15 with Mickey Thompson Indy Profile G-60X15. If you looked very hard at the engine compartment you see the engine has been moved back 6 1/2" and the custom urethane motor mounts. The headers, I built them, it took a new set of Hooker headers and 2 boxes of assorted bends to get the look I wanted plus a lot of hours. Then there is the tilt front end, also a lot of hours, pull a pin, slide it forward, one person can tilt it. Optima battery, aluminum radiator, car runs 180 degree all day long. Carbs could stand to be tuned on, I have driven this car on several 75 mile round trips, it's a hand full to drive and does NOT like the expressways, remember 4;11 gears. I hate to be long winded, just trying to describe things the way they are. I have way more time and money than I will ever get back out of this, I do not have to sell it, the money would just go towards one of many other projects I have. You are bidding on a car with NO Warranty, I expect a $500.00 deposit within 48 hours of auction end, the rest in green money at time of pick up. If you are having the car picked up, YOU are responsible for ALL arrangements. If you have 10 or less feedback, e-mail me before bidding. If you have ANY questions, please ask before the last day of the auction. Thanks

2014 Ford Fiesta Titanium
Mon, 28 Oct 2013You might not be interested in owning a subcompact (B-segment) hatchback for $20,000. Let's be clear from the get go here: there are any number of reasonable arguments for staying away from the highest-content versions of these small cars. Ford's player in the B-segment arena is the newly updated 2014 Fiesta, and the Titanium trim represents the most luxurious instantiation of the model. We recently were loaned a Fiesta Titanium for a week, whose final sticker price hit $20,390, with navigation being the only standalone option added to the bottom line. By way of comparison, the most basic version of the all new, one-segment-up Mazda3 hatchback costs $19,740 with delivery and destination accounted for, and no options added on.
Hold on to that thought for a moment, we'll get back to it.
An amazing Group B rally car collection heads to auction
Tue, Jan 26 2021Kicking off in 1982, the Group B era spawned some of the most fearsome rally cars of all time. The technologically advanced pioneers of all-wheel drive and turbocharging defined a time when automakers had carte blanche to build machines with unrestricted power, without the burden of homologating a large number of road cars to qualify. The results were sometimes deadly, leading the FIA to ban the class after 1986. Now, a collection of seven Group B monsters is headed across the block in Paris as part of the Artcurial auction, held in partnership with France's famed Retromobile show. The show has been delayed to June, however. There's a 1985 Peugeot 205 Turbo 16, one of 20 Evo II models that helped the company achieve two championships in Group B's short run. This particular example was driven by world champion Timo Salonen at the 1986 Swedish Rally, where it finished seventh due to an oil filter seal failure. Bruno Saby subsequently drove it at the 1986 Tour de Corse and Peugeot entered it at the 1986 Acropolis Rally as well. It's still registered to Peugeot Talbot Sport and represents a French technological achievement, according to Artcurial, comparable to the Concorde or TGV train. Representing Italy are a pair of Lancias in the iconic Martini livery. The Lancia 037 helped Bel Paese clinch its only Group B victory in 1983, after a hard-fought rivalry with Audi. It's one of the few Group B cars that weren't AWD, achieving its success the old-fashioned way, through lightness and superb handling. A second Lancia, a 1986 Delta S4, was the culmination of the Italian firm's later Group B efforts and one of Saby's favorites. While Group B was no more in 1987, the S4 was the predecessor to the Delta Integrale that would dominate WRC from 1987 through 1992. While the collection also includes greats like a Ford RS200, Renault 5 Maxi Turbo, and MG Metro 6R4, the centerpiece is the Audi Quattro Sport S1. The ultimate Group B machine, it introduced all-wheel-drive and turbocharging to the sport. It also employed the wildest use of wings and air dams to generate downforce. Tunable up to 590 horsepower, it could rocket to 60 mph in about three seconds. The car offered for sale came straight from Ingolstadt, a 1988 model built for the Race of Champions of ex-Group B cars. The collection was amassed in the late 80s and early 90s, not long after Group B's dissolution.
Top Gear's latest trailer shows off a golden Bugatti Chiron
Thu, Feb 23 2017Top Gear is returning on March 5, and after a lackluster first series with the new hosts, the new group seems determined not to hit a sophomore slump. Chris Evans is gone, and the latest teaser trailer shows the new trio of Matt LeBlanc, Chris Harris, and Rory Reid strapped into some pretty fantastic cars, including the Bugatti Chiron and the Ford GT. All of the typical Top Gear segments appear to be present, though the quick cuts don't give us many details. The trailer shows a copious amount of powerslides from an assortment of cars, and even Chris Harris racing around Daytona. Aside from the Bugatti and Ford, cars from Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari, BMW, Aston Martin, and Alfa Romeo are all present. Co-hosts Eddie Jordan and Sabine Schmitz don't appear at all, so it seems their roles may be downplayed to focus on three guys, as was the case pre-reboot. We have some hope for this re-relaunched show and will be keeping an eye out for more details in the lead-up to the series premiere.
